Best

One of my favorite restaurants in Los Angeles. The atmosphere is wonderful. The food is superb. Great place to go with a large party or on a romantic date. Must try... Pros:...

Worst

My date wanted to go to Pace so instead of mentioning my previous bad experiences I said sure. We were seated right away, ordered water and waited and waited. Our server finally...

what happened to good ol' Pace 3/28/2007

I used to go here for dinner all the time with fellow Laurel Canyon friends and now I drive by on my way home each day and feel saddened by the changed Pace. The prices have SKY ROCKETED. Shame on the establishment for once catering to a cool unique crowd and now charging a crazy place for a simple piece of salmon and salty pizza. I prefer to take the hill down to a place where I dont shake my head at a disgustingly overpriced reciepts and feel excited by changing menu's and a dinner worth while. What happened? more

Good, but not worth the price 3/22/2007

Wow. Went to Pace last night for dinner, and while it was good, as it has been in the past, it is absolutely not worth the price. We brought our own bottle of wine, expecting a corkage fee, but $30?!? I'm sorry, but how do they justify that? My husband had the night's special pasta - which was also $30. $30 for a small plate of pasta? As previous commentators have mentioned too, $3.75 for one cup of decaf coffee. I like the food and the atmosphere, but who do they think they are? For a casual Wednesday dinner for two (even bringing our own wine) the bill came to over $150. No thanks. Won't be going back any time soon. Pros: Good food, atmosphere Cons: WAY overpriced for good, but average pasta more

Good food, horrible reservations and attitude 2/3/2007

I've been here twice, and the food it always great. HOWEVER, the place is always way too packed...I think they must have a fire marshall on the payroll to get away with this crowding. What made our experience so TERRIBLE was that we had a reservation made a day in advance when we called to confirm a few hours prior to our seating. They told us we couldn't be seated for at least another half an hour and to come in at 9:30PM. We arrived at 9:25, and they said they were off track because of traffic (?) and we should wait outside. We didn't get seated until 10PM and then only in the outside area where a breeze blew through the plastic covering and made for a pretty unpleasant meal. Yes, it may have a good name, location and food, but service like this is going to ruin it eventually. I hope they get their act together. Pros: Great tasting food. Cons: Inability to stick to reservation schedule and bad attitude more

Horrible Business Policies 1/27/2007

We ordered from Pace from their on-line menu. The price of the chicken entree was $17.00 on-line and when the bill came it was $23.00. The manager refused to honor the price on the website and just said "they have to update it". We also ordered the pasta special which had truffles added, but they neglected to tell us that it was $45.00!!! This restaurant is a rip-off. Cons: Bad service and value. more

$15.50 Chocolate cake 12/2/2006

I went to Pace two years ago and was impressed. I went there again this month and was disappointed. The bread was good, and the pasta was good. A bit over priced but nice atmosphere. Disappointing was the fact the cake was $14.50 (and average) and a $1.50 was added for ice cream (a la mode) even though the cake was $14.50? Sorry, will the cheapskate running Pace just include the measly extra scoop of icecream and not charge extra? Or include it in the price... it's the principle, not the $1.50. Pros: pasta dish, ambience Cons: over priced chocolate cake and coffee more

Over all the place is nice but over priced and a bit rushed service. I will hesitate before returning. Pros: pasta dish, ambience Cons: over priced chocolate cake and coffee more

One of the best restaurants in Los Angeles 11/5/2006

This restuarant is one of my absolute favorites. I have been here half a dozen times and it never fails to be less than excellent. The food is so good. The service is great and the atmosphere is perfect. It is tucked away in a charming building on Laurel Canyon. You definately do not feel like you are in LA. I wish there were more restaurants like Pace. The pizza is really really good. Pros: great food, great atmosphere, great service- they also have these great little rooms in the back for large parties more

Romantic, elegant, warm and cozy with great food and wine - always satisfying. 10/29/2006

Pace is elegant, romantic, warm, sophiticated and charming. It is hidden away in Laurel Canyon under the little convenient store. It's a true gem! Pace is owned by the same people who own the fabulous Cheebo on Sunset Blvd. But is a little more sophisticated and high end. The food is to die for. The steak will melt in your mouth. The salmon is cooked on a slab of cedar and the wines are all top of the list. This is a fantastic place to bring someone that you really care about. Pros: Everything about this place is a pro! Especially the ambience. Cons: None more

Always a good time 9/15/2006

I wind up eating here a little more than I like, because it's close by and my girlfriend's favorite place. I really don't understand - it's in a basement, very loud, and too dark. I guess she likes the cozy feel. There is always interesting people watching, however. The service is pretty decent here - efficient, but not overly personable. You can tell they are always busy. In the kitchen, they do great work with vegetables - from the salads to the sides - always very tasty - great flavors from the sauces and dressings, but you can still taste the essence of the vegetables. They really stick it to you on the price of the specials (a lot of restaurants do that). I've really enjoyed the BBQ spare ribs and the lamb shank, but the burger disappointed. Pastas are very good, too. The olives they bring to the table with the almonds when you get started are some of the best I've ever tasted. Desserts are good, too - everyone loves the molten chocolate cake you have to order with the rest of the meal. Pros: good food, cozy Cons: no windows more

Our favorite restaurant in LA. Best atmosphere in town. 7/7/2006

We eat at Pace about once a week, and have never been disappointed. The food has only gotten better over the years, and the service is great. We even had a wedding party there- rented the whole inside for our rehearsal dinner, and everyone loved it. This is also a great place for a gathering of friends. Definitely make reservations if you want to sit outside. And you do want to sit outside. The atmosphere is fantastic. We especially like the endive salad with goat cheese, apple, and currants. The fish dishes and specials are always great, the wood burning oven pizzas are amazing, and the wood grilled chicken is also very good. Pros: Atmosphere, great food, great service Cons: none! more

Used to be great.... 6/3/2006

I went back to Pace last week. The menu is smaller and more expensive than before. The wine list decreased and is pretty much restricted to expensive wines now. The service is OK. The place is still a nice spot for date/friend dinner. But totally disappointing compared to what it was 8 months ago. more
