Perfect date place 7/27/2006

My husband and I had our 2nd date at Pipa and have been back several times with friends. The dining area is very romantic - low lights, candles. Though the food is a bit pricey, it's a great combination of food and flavors - my favorite tapas is the Piggy Back Date - a date stuffed with almonds, wrapped with bacon, and blue cheese, yum! Other tapas are great, too, such as the octopus and the flatbreads and paella are excellent. This is a wonderful place to come either to share a few tapas on a date, or with friends so you can share dishes large and small. If you're not into the whole tapas thing, the bar is also a great place to have a drink before heading someplace else. more

Thinks a bit to highly of itself 3/12/2006

The room is beautiful, but the tapas are merely okay. They're also quite large and pricey, which sort of defeats the tapas concept unless you go here with a big group -- which can also be problematic, as you must reserve with a credit card,a nd if you don't give ample notice in canceling your reservation they charge you a fee! Get real, I know rude diners and cancellations in New York are a problem, but a well-located, hot restaurant like this is never going to have a problem filling a table with walk-ins -- and the place isn't fabulous enough to justify the attitude problem. Also, it's _really_ loud in there. more

Not worth it. 9/25/2005

This place is cool inside, but that's about it. The tapas stinks, everything was really oily and very, very over priced. Moreover the Sangria was ridiculously sickly sweet, and like the food way overpriced. It seems as if they had to jack up the food in order to pay the decorator. more

good food in this atmospheric tapas lounge 8/18/2005

the atmosphere in this tapas lounge is what sets it apart. attached to ABC Carpet and Home, you can wander through for brunch on a weekend or have dinner after an afternoon of shopping. Take your pick from any of the chandeliers -- they're all for sale. the food is wonderfully flavorful (the spicy calamari one of my favorites). the dessert menu doesn't really have any must-indulge items. in the summer enjoy eating al fresco more
