Made my Top 5 Food Experiences of All Time! 4/2/2011

It had been several years since we had been down to the 'Chuck Drive. But we were definitely up for some fresh oysters and having worked hard (driving through the rain from Portland heading to Vancouver, BC) we deserved a treat. The Oyster Creek did not disapoint. In a word it was spectacular! From the farm fresh Kumamotos, and the unbelievable Pacifics to the Oysters Gratinee, I knew it was going to be special, like we were in Bowfingers in Paris. What I was not prepared for was the out of this world Oyster Stew, followed by the evening special of crab stuffed ravioli. The meal was accompanied by heralded wines (white from the Willamette, and blended red from Walla Walla) recommended by the executive chef/owner Thomas Palmer. Our service was overseen by a very knowledgable server Duane. Absolutely professional. The meal ended with a perfectly prepared Grand Marnier Souffle, followed by a special three bean espresso accompanied with a Chartreuse. All in all it was a spectacular experience which I am all too eager to share. (I want to emphasize that until this evening I had never met Thomas Palmer or server Duane, and I have absolutely no personal interest in this establishment). I look forward to our next visit. more

If only the food was as good as the view 3/5/2009

The location is spectacular, and the ample windows maximize your enjoyment of the waterfall and the creek. Unfortunately the food is not equal to the ambiance. While the food is ok, it is not as wonderful as the price would imply. Stop in for a drink and enjoy the view. Then go to Chuckanut Mannor or The Oyster Bar when you want good food. more

WAS the most fabulous place to celebrate a special occassion, or a wonderful day, or... 7/16/2008

Today was a very sad day for me. I took two visiting friends down beautiful Chuckanut Drive to my favorite restaurant, The Oyster Creek Inn, only to find it closed and for sale. I called my foodie son, whose first request upon arrival in Seattle was to go to the Oyster Creek Inn and his reply was, ""Oh no, this is a tragedy!"" I told local friends who were as saddened as I. There is nothing to compare in the area to the Oyster Creek Inn.\r \r Pros: Food, Service, Ambience, Views, Room! Cons: IT IS NOW CLOSED! more

Wonderful atmosphere and delicious food! 6/25/2006

The only other review for the Oyster Creek Inn is not a review about it but rather a review of the Oyster Bay Bar, down the road a piece. The Oyster Creek Inn boasts a gorgeous view of the woods and a small waterfall and creek! The atmosphere is lovely, (with linen), the service impeccable and every dish we've eaten there (numerous times) has been simply delicious! Don't leave without tasting the vanilla creme brulee! Yum. The Oyster Creek Inn is one of our favorite places to dine. My dad comes from Denver on vacation and requests to eat there every time! Enjoy! more

slow, slow, slow 8/1/2005

20 minutesf between courses and it was not even busy. Ordered the Boulabaisse (sp?) and it had so little fish, shrimp (1), and clams (2) in it, I was amazed that it took so long to prepare. The waitpeople have the ol' game down in repeating how wonderful the chef is, etc, etc, etc. It is a poor value. If you want a beautiful view of the bay and the water, this is definitely the place. Snuggle with a drink, then go somewhere else to eat. more

This one-room, rectangular dining room just off scenic Chuckanut Drive feels like the interior of a well-appointed treehouse. Massive windows overlook a deep plunge of leafy forest, and in nice weather, diners on the deck relax to the murmur of a bubbling brook below. If you like oysters, you'd be crazy not to order some here, thanks to the proximity of oyster farms. (The entrance to Taylor Shellfish Farms' driveway is just outside the restaurant's door.) The menu offers them raw on the half shell, topped with cheese, baked, broiled, pan-fried, scalloped, wrapped in bacon, roasted and topped with spinach and Hollandaise to create a version of Oysters Rockefeller. We liked every preparation we tried. An oyster sampler, available in both appetizer and entree portions, included five preparations. All are made with the big Pacific Bay variety, so don't be surprised if you get one the size of a child's fist. Stick with oysters, or with seafood prepared simply, such as grilled fish or steamed shellfish. The kitchen is less consistent with more complex dishes, such as seafood stew in a thin, underwhelming saffron broth. A Northwest version of salade Nicoise combined luscious mussels, crisp mixed greens and a standard dressing, but pink salmon in the mix was bland and a bit overcooked. For non-seafood fanciers, the long menu offers meat options. If you can't find what you want, friendly servers will deliver special requests, such as a fish-and-chips platter, to the kitchen. The wine list covers just a single, legal-sized page, but even so it's impressive: vertical offerings of Leonetti and Woodward Canyon, and a respectable set of half-bottles. House wines under a proprietary label from nearby Mount Baker Vineyards are reasonably priced by the glass or bottle. —Kathleen FlinnScene:
