Careful, you'll dream of these burgers in your sleep. There's no better burger in New Mexico.

Great food, great atmosphere! I have been bringing my family to The Owl Cafe for over ten years, food and service have always been fantastic! The Malts are the best, and the greatest part is what the owner does for the community. I read in the paper the couple who own this diner have donated over 50 grand in charity. I will definitly recommend this place! more

The food is just ok . The owner/manager is an ass 12/25/2010

The food is ok. I haven't been there in years because when I would go the owner/manager? would be in the front with a bad attitude. I don't remember the food being memorable, but do remember the staff being on edge because the owner/manager would be a jerk. It made for uncomfortable dining for mediocre food. Part of the dining experience for me is to relax and destress, not eat in an uncomfortable setting more

Far and away the best. 8/29/2010

Yummy! 3/18/2009

The Green Chile burger is awesome!! The best greasy home made style burger! The atmosphere is great, good old nostalgic diner! Love it! Pros: Green Chile Burger! Cons: nothing more

Relax with a great shake 3/13/2008

I\r \r \r I love the Owl Cafe ! Their hamburgers are the best, juicy and filling. I love 50's style cafe's and the Owl is one of the finest. It's relaxing, they don't hurry you and they have great shakes and floats. If you are not a ""hamburger"" person, they have other things, i.e. sandwiches, salads and even mexican food on certain days. You can't go wrong at the Owl Cafe !\r \r Pros: Hamburgers Cons: Cost - a little high for what you get more

Having Been to Both. . . 5/29/2006

I've been to both the original Owl Bar (not cafe), and the Eubank spawn, and I must say: the original has an exceptional green chile burger, and the Albuquerque one has truly baffling milkshakes. The burger in San Anton is small, true, but it is so messy, so delicious, so heart-meltingly full of NM green-chile goodness that one hardly notices; it's the very paradigm of what a NM green chile burger should be. The shakes at the Eubank one defy reason, the peanut butter one alone so heart-rendingly succulent as to totally obliterate the memory of any other milkshake one has ever had-anywhere. Both these places have unbeatable atmosphere: the original, dark faux-dive, the progeny cheerful 50s nostalgia. Pros: great green chile, atmosphere, milkshakes Cons: crowded (Eubank), limited breakfast more

Always good food 7/8/2004

I ate at the San Antonio restaurant many times and consider the Owl in ABQ to be just as good. These burgers are they way burgers are supposed to be made. Pros: Homestyle food, Ambience more

Green Chili Cheeseburger 9/4/2003

When you have an""Owl Cafe"" burger, you feel like you died and went to heaven. The green chili cheeseburger along with their chili cheese fries are absolutely wonderful! Pros: Service is fast, atmosphere is nostalg Cons: More parking needed more

generic dining 2/9/2003

Regarding the green chile burger. nothing spectacular here. In fact, most truck stops could compete with this restaurant for quality, and beat it in price. As far as the fries are concerned, I think they pushed the envelope in grease content and still keeping it in a semi-fry shape. more

Over Rated 12/29/2002

Overall, I would say that this establishment is over-rated; The menu extremely limited (steaks are available), and the price is high for what you get. The burgers are delicious, but small. It was hard to find or taste the green chile in the burger. Order at least a double meat burger because the patties are small. One unique item you will find here is people sign dollar bills for which the cafe posts on their walls throughout. At some point, the owners take the money and donate it to charity. There are also several pictures of ""Stars"" posted on the walls throughout the establishment. I don't see what the hype is over this ""famous"" place, but it was fun and not too bad. For a family of five it costs us $29.00 not including the tip for burgers, fries, drinks, and two beers. Pros: Tasty, Unique, Friendly Cons: Pricy, Over Rated more

Heaven 12/13/2002

The Owl Cafe has the WORLDS best green chili cheese burgers you will ever sink you teeth in. The chili has great flavor and little heat. Add fries to the order and you are going to be full for a long time. Pros: Food, Service, Enviroment more

OUTPOST 12/6/2002

(I have been to many NM places, many times) Ancient Secret - go to Carrizozo for the best green chile cheeseburger... because the Owl Cafe is merely a pretender to the throne. The service deserved the rating I gave, they are too comfortable to care. At the Owl Cafe I had their signature entree and the Root Beer. it just isn't the best. It is better than a McDonald's with Bueno Chile, but to TRULY find the best, travel a little and you will find it. Or settle for an approximation. more

Best Burgers in New Mexico 12/6/2002

The Owl bar is a nice 50's style restruant with a very friendly staff and overall great food. The owl bar is the most famous for there green chile cheese burgers, which unfortunately are so good that they are usually about the only thing I eat there. Pros: inexpensive, good food, nice people more

The burger they'll serve in Heaven 10/19/2002

This is a real live green chile cheeseburger; not for the wimpy. Add a side of onion rings and it will remind you why it's good to live in the ""Land of Enchantment."" Pros: food, shakes, jukeboxes Cons: sometimes crowded more

Best Green Chile Cheeseburger 8/26/2002

The Owl Cafe serves the best Green Chile Cheeseburger hands down. Celebrities visiting Albuquerque drive out of their way to have one. You can't beat the Owl Cafe for a great burger at a reasonable price more

you gotta be kidding? 7/16/2002

overpriced, medocre burgers. To continue typing to meet the 10 word minimum is bumming the Dude out :) more

Owl be back! 6/8/2002

The first thing that attracted me to the Owl Cafe was the vintage car show that was going on as I checked into the Howard Johnson's just behind the restaurant. This is a twice a month event. I did not notice the Owl facade until the following morning. After checking into the hotel after being on the road for 12 hours, I was ready for a feast and a drink or two. The Owl Cafe came through on both accounts. The green chili cheeseburger (their specialty) was prepared to perfection and the portions, generous. The hip-hop atmosphere was alive and well and matched the little known history that makes the Owl Cafe famous. You have to go to find out what it is. You will be surprised. Overall, I had a very enjoyable experience at the Owl Cafe and highly recommend it. It is conveniently just off I-40. Pros: History, Atmosphere, Food quality Cons: Slow service more
