Editorial review from Citysearch 1/3/2013

Excellent! Dr. Schwartz found the cause of my cat's illness after 6 years of taking her to other vets! He was wonderful, explaining everything and letting me stay with my cat during her procedure. I was able to hold her inbetween her tests -- it's amazing they let people in the treatment room. I could oversee everything and my cat was treated well. Dr. Schwartz is way more savvy than anyone else. He even returned my calls on holidays. He's very caring and I'm so glad my cat is finally getting help! If we had gone to him sooner, my cat wouldn't have had irreparable damage caused by 6 years of the wrong treatment at other places. more

Dog suffered unnecessary and painful death 3/19/2012

My dog suffered for months while his very diagnosable and treatable disease was left untreated. All I got were shrugs from Dr. Schwartz. I had so much built up trust for Dr. Schwartz. I just cannot believe what happened to my precious dog. There were signs that something was just very wrong. Someone else posted that she had the same feeling. I could never get a diagnosis for this festering illness. It was always about treating the symptoms. We all know how well that works. more

Schwartz L A Dvm - our vet for over 25 years 8/21/2009

Dr. Schwartz has been taking care of our families dogs for 25 years. He has checked them out as puppies, taken care of vaccinations, treated them for all sorts of ailments, and taken care of them to the end. The staff is knowledgeable. The only flaw we can say is that he tends to very thoroughly explain what is going on more

Overland Veterinary Clinic is reliable, thoughtful, convenient 8/11/2009

I have taken my dogs to Dr Shwartz for about 18 years and felt that he understood us and our animals and tried to keep expenses to a minimum wherever possible. more

Dr. Schwartz is the best! 8/22/2008

Dr. Schwartz is the best vet I have ever been to. He has seen my dog, my rats and my bunnies and is very knowledgeable, patient and compassionate. I highly recommend him to anyone with a fur or feather kid. His staff is very friendly and they make a stressful experience pleasant. I recommend him to everyone. more

Excellent & Compassionate 8/17/2008

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Schwartz and the whole staff at Overland Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Schwartz was the vet for my cat for nearly all her 19 years of life. He is highly knowledgeable, gifted and compassionate. The people who work for him are understandably loyal, and everybody in that office loves animals. Dr. Schwartz is the best vet I have ever encountered. Even after I moved from West L.A. to Redondo Beach, after briefly trying a vet closer to my new home, I returned to Dr. Schwartz. No one could have provided better care for my cat.\r \r Their address is actually 3465 Overland Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90034 - not on Fairfax! more

Good vets: explain thoroughly what is going on and don't try to run up the bill 8/15/2008

I took our cat to them after being very dissatisfied with our previous vet. The cat was quite ill at this point. Both vets who I saw took a lot of time in examining the animal and did a fantastic job of describing exactly what was happening, what they were doing and what we needed to watch for. Unfortunately, the cat was too sick and ended up being put to sleep to prevent him from unnecessarily suffering. They were extremely sensitive about this process, and even lit a candle at the reception. Also, they did not try to run up the bills. My experience with them was extremely positive. more

Horrible - don't ever go there 5/30/2008

The doctor messed up a spay on my poor little dog and accidentally tied off her bowels. This resulted in her very slow and painful death.\r \r Don't go to this vet. more

Save your dog. Stay away from this place 5/30/2008

They were supposed to spay my dog. Instead they accidentally tied off her bowels. This caused her to die a slow and horrible death. Fortunately, I took her to another vet just before she died. This other vet did the autopsy and found what this vet from Overland had done. Overland didn't even apologize. They were horrible. Pros: nothing Cons: incompetent more

Overland Veterinary Clinic 5/9/2008

On Overland near Palms. They can usually fit you in. But sometimes you may have to wait too long, and then you discover that it's because they spend a lot of time with you and your pet. They do care about your pets! more

Avoid it ! Vets intentionally make your cat sick longer for money! 10/30/2007

I have a diabetic cat and been treated at this clinic for about a year. Every visites I made, I asked a vet if I shoud change my cat's diet. The owner vet always gave me the same answer saying "" Not nesassary, just sitck with dry diet."" So, I have fed my diabetic cat the same dry food and continued to five 5 unites of insulin. But I felt someting was so wrong about my Vet, who is a owner there by the way. Thanks to my instinct, I took my sick cat to some clinic at Santa Monica, and a vet suggested me to feed canned food. After visiting to the vet at Santa Monica only 3 times, i was told that my cat no longer need insulin ! All my cat needed was to swich diet!! Well, now i know why the vet at overland clinic never wanted me to swich my cat's diet. That would be the end of my expensive vet visit! The vet at this clinic was waiting for my cat to have kidney disease, which is a common complication of diabetes. Avoid it at any cost! Pros: convenient hours, Cons: immoral vets, more

Worst Service-Rude Office Staff- 10/21/2007

I have visited several times at this clinic. People at the front desk are so rude. Every time I call in to make an appointment over the phone, I get very shabby treatment. What is worse, they do not keep patient's medical record right. Wrong contact info, Wrong numbers on test result, and etc. Even I asked to update and correct my info, they never didi. Pros: convenient hours, clean office, Cons: Rude Office staff, Poor managements on patient's medical records more

terrible experience with ZERO customer service 5/27/2007

I made an appointment for my cat, who is 16, and is suffering from a problem that makes her back legs lock up and it is very frightening to witness...I made an appointment...on the books !!! I arrived and was taken at my time--this happens, but I waiting in the lobby why others, who seemed like repeat clients, simply walked in and were seen--THEY DID NOT HAVE APPOINTMENTS. I continued to wait while my 16 year old cat stayed in her box next me FOR 45 MINUTES. I witness the dr. talk over and over again about the same thing to one of his ""repeat"" clients, while I had to wait and observe...I told the receptionist that they had five minutes before they lost my business...I called friends to ask who they take their pets to, and I found several within 10 minutes who were willing to take me because of the condition of my cat--and remember, I HAD AN APPOINTMENT !!! Needless to say, I was not going to leave my cat in her box any longer than neccessary--THEY LOST MY BUSINESS AND YOU SHOULD NOT GIVE THEM YOURS !!! Pros: LOCAL Cons: zero service and care for this pet owner in need more
