Steak House Blunders! 5/14/2003

Me and My wife attended this so called BestSteak House in Norwalk. The food was horrible the service stuck like blue cheese and the management had no control of the restaurant. I have to disagree with this rating. those are my thoughts. Steak Guy! * Out of 5*'s Pros: nice looking servers Cons: nasty food more

Best Steakhouse... Hands Down 2/13/2003

I don't have the money to go to Ruth's Chris or something comparable, so for my money, Outback is by far the best. The wait staff is always extremely charming and friendly. The food is fresh, never frozen, and they make everything fresh in the store (Dressings, sauces, even the butter and whipped cream!!) I don't mean to sound like an ad for the restaurant, but I have been a loyal customer since 1996, which is when the local one opened up. I love it! Pros: fresh food, great service, laid back atmosphere Cons: small waiting area more

No way this is one of the best.. 1/13/2003

They used to be a great vaule steak house. Good quality steaks. however, about 1 1/2 years ago, maybe they switch owner or meat provider, it totally went down hill, even the overseas chain went along with it. Strong NOT recommended more

the good stuff 1/13/2003

I have been to several places for steaks and this place has it down. Their food is prepared just as you ordered it with prompt service and festive atmosphere. more

high price-poor quality 1/13/2003

the worst steaks and chefs going. i have never gorrten a good steak yet. Pros: king crab legs Cons: poor quality steaks, poor prime rib, over crowded more

you'll like the roos 1/13/2003

my whole family like it there but can't give a woman a ring there but than again you might Pros: food, service, great people more

Outback Just Formula Chain Restaurant 1/13/2003

Outback is definitely not a top 10 LA steakhouse. It is a formula restaurant that does especially well in smaller cities with less overall restaurant competition. But to claim it is in the same category as Ruth C, Palm, Flemmings (Manhattan Beach), Morton's, Max's......is ludicrous. Outback competes with Black Angus, Applebees, and TGIF. Pros: not expensive Cons: loud, quality of meat varie, crowded more

Too Close??? 1/13/2003

My husband's birthday was on a Monday. He indicated that he wanted a steak and his exact words were "a good steak". We had previously discussed going to Outback's for New Years Eve, but yours truly was sick. So I decided to take him for his birthday. Unlike the other reviews I read, we received immediate seating, a friendly waiter (he sat down at the table next to my husband and explained each and every dish we thought about ordering). Afterwards, my husband indicated that he sat just a little "too close", but it was better than him sitting next to his woman. :-) We ordered, however, was only able to get through the garden salad and bread and shrimp appetizers! We thoroughly enjoyed what we ate. Pros: Good food, Large portions, Fresh vegetables more

great steak 1/13/2003

I had the filet mignon with melted bleu cheese on top and the garlic mashed potatoes. It was delicious. My fiance had the 12 oz prime rib and 1/2 lb of crab legs. His cut of prime was perfect! more

AWESOME 1/13/2003

THE BEST, HANDS DOWN!!! I WILL TELL ALL MY FRIENDS TO GO. Pros: SERVICE, LOCATION, FOOD more

WALMart of Steak houses 1/13/2003

You can be out for <$20 each, but you get what you pay for, and definitely should not be on the top 10 list of any major city especially LA Pros: Inexpensive, CHAIN Cons: Inexpensive, CHAIN more

I needed to Back out 1/13/2003

Just another chain with a different fluff, herd em in and herd em out. Same frozen food that is delivered to every other restaurant in town. more

Too Much Seasoning 1/12/2003

The last time I went to Outback Steakhouse, I could barely find my steak beneath the layers of seasoning that they put on it. It wasn't cooked to my order, and definitely wasn't a "melt in your mouth" experience... Pros: Mostly Inexpensive Cons: Over-seasoned, Med Quality Meat more

C'mon, They're only O.K! 1/12/2003

It's amazing that this restuarant made this list. The'yre good, but not deserving to be on any exclusive list. They are a chain afterall. It's not a putdown, but a reality. They make an above average steak. more

worst food ever 1/3/2003

Every time I have eaten at a Outback the food and service have been so bad. I will never go back to one again. I have tried them in all parts of the country and they are all the same. Pros: none Cons: over priced, food bad, service bad more

Loser 1/3/2003

I have been twice to two different Outbacks in CA. The service was poor and the food terrible. I would never recommend to even my enemys more

not a steakhouse 1/3/2003

Outback calls itself a steakhouse? it's a joke, the steak are not good. i don't know how it made the top 10 in LA!!!! more

Outhouse Steakhouse 1/3/2003

Greasy slimmy food that does not deserve to be called Aussie. It is a cheap American attempt to capitalize on the good natured Aussie friendship. Pros: Ambiance, decorating, waitresses Cons: food, greasy more

Good Food 1/3/2003

We've eated at Outback's throughout the United States. They all have great food and generally good service - you get the occasional overworked waiter everywhere. The quality of meat and portions is worth the price. more

Owner Message
  • Inspired by the adventurous spirit of Australia, Outback Steakhouse has been an innovator in the restaurant industry by creating bold, iconic flavors served in a quality casual environment.

Editorial
  • In Short
Boomerangs, Aussie flags, kangaroo portraits and faux aboriginal art honor the homeland's wilderness, but Outback delivers a polished version of rusticity with varnished blond-wood booths with matching wainscoting and casually uniformed waitstaff. Besides more than a half-dozen cuts of steak, diners can pick from large-portioned entrees like ribs, chops and shrimp or chicken "on the barbie." The Bloomin' Onion, a large onion dipped in batter and deep-fried, is an appetizer with a following.
