Upscale but fun 5/26/2006

Orleans has a lot to offer. I like the food there and I like to dine in the nice atmosphere of an elegant restaurant but at a much lower price. At the same time it's a good place to get together with your friends for drinks. The restaurant is very accommodating to both small and large groups. If you're with 5 or so of your friends and want just a drink there are plenty of hight tables and of course there is the lounge. If you can grab it.... It's often occupied as this is a popular part of the restaurant. more

Strawberry and Basil infused vod..ka 5/25/2006

If you haven't been to Orleans in a while, you might not know, but recently you can get some infused vodkas at Orleans. Yes, we all know... bars always try to get fancy shmancy with infused beverages, but this one is special.. It's strawberry and BASIL infused. You'd think it be quite bad, but in fact it's the best vodka ever. Those two flavors go so well together, although you would've never expected it. more

Great for large parties 5/23/2006

Orleans in addition to food and drinks is also great for large groups, whether for dinner or just as a party. The restaurant/bar area is very spacious and combining tables is easy. However, if you'd rather not sit around a long table, you can reserve the lounge area. It can sit up to around 12 - 15 people (depending how crowded you want to get). It's so much better than sitting around long table. Try it. more

Live Music on Friday nights! 5/20/2006

If you visit Orleans as frequently as I do, you know that the choice of entertainment for the venue are dj's -- and they are pretty good as well. However, recently I discovered that Orleans decided to move into a live music scene as well. I went there last Friday and to my surprise, instead of a dj they set up a little stage and two guys with guitars started playing decent covers of known songs. AND THEY WERE GOOD TOO. It was perfect addition to the martinis that we ordered. Check it out -- Friday nights -- I have no idea what the name of the band is. more

Free Wi-Fi too. 5/18/2006

I've read the reviews and I agree that Orleans is a cool place. One thing that everyone forgot to mention is that they have free wi-fi (unlike all the coffee shops in Davis). Ok, cool, so maybe you'll look a bit like a dork when you show up on Friday night with your laptop.. but it's a perfect place to do homework during the day or on the weekend at brunch/lunch. It's kind of nice really. The place is usally quite empty during the day. I must say that I enjoy sitting on the couches, with the windows wide open, eating eggs benedict and playing around on my laptop. Oh, and if you go in and just get a soda or coffee the staff won't be nasty to you. I've done that and they are quite cool about just hanging out even if you only buy $2 worth of stuff. more

The PATIO opening soon! 5/18/2006

Now the the rains have stopped I heard that the patio will be opening soon and that they have made changes this year. I've been there last week and noticed that they put in a door that goes directly from the bar area to the patio, which means that the quality of service should improve (not that it was bad before). I think this is the only place in davis that has this large and nice of an outdoor dining area. YESSS! more

Creative Drinks! 5/17/2006

I like Orleans as a bar more than a restaurant, although the food is quite decent. I usually just on weekend nights. The place is usually hopping with young adults, and there are barely any students. I recommend the mojitos. Probably the best place in Boston to get those. more

Something for everyONE 5/16/2006

People are often confused by Orleans. They go in and don't realize what the place is all about. I must admit, it took me a while before I realized that this place was designed to fulfill every patron's want and need. You want an elegant dinner - there you go. You want to chill by the bar -- yep, the friendly bar tenders will be more than happy to take care of you. You just want to stop by for some nachos and a beer -- the booths are right there for ya! Or do you want to chill 'downtown style' -- the comfy lounge is right there and you're welcome to stay as long as you want, drinking your martinis and listening to the dj spin some cool tunes. You see this place doesn't work like the rest. There is no set formula, no strict rules. You come in here and you make it your own. more

Reliable, Semi-Upscale Neighborhood Bar/Restaurant 5/13/2006

My friends keep coming back to Orleans for its fabulous mojitos which have a fruity kick to them. I come back for a cold glass of chardonnay and a window seat after work, or for an outdoor appetizer (they commandeer Comcast's parking lot after hours, and it's not as bad as you'd think) in summer. The place gets really hopping at night and is packed on weekends. The food is usually good and the Sox game, for better or for worse, shows on big screens all over the place. It gets loud in here so prepare to scream after sundown. Also a decent brunch goes until 3 or 4 and is never crowded, although the atmosphere is awfully sterile. more

Great Food, Awesome Hang OUt 5/12/2006

Orleans is one of those unique places. Within it you will find a elegant restaurant, a well stocked bar, a casual place to eat, a lounge, or a dance club. Any given night it can be the place for you. Each section is quite separate from the other. The food is great and so are the drinks. They get quite innovative and it's one of the few places in Boston where you can get more than one kind of mojito. Friday and Saturday nights gather big crowds of late 20 somethings which makes for a fun atmosphere. Check it out. more

good for drinks with friends 8/6/2004

Orleans is one of the few bars around Somerville's Davis Square. They serve dinner, which I heard is pretty decent, but I have not tried it myself. The place is more known for drinks later in the evening. There are several couch areas for groups to hang out. The place is nothing special, but if you're looking for drinks around Davis Square, definitely stop by. more
