Great Municipal Library 12/9/2009

The Orem Public Library is one of my favorite places in Utah County. Most of the staff are very dedicated to the concept of public libraries, and extremely helpful, as well as friendly and knowledgeable. One particular point of excellence is a libraries media collection. I've never seen anything like it in a public library. The checkout fee for DVDs is only one dollar per disc, and helps to support a wonderful collection of foreign films, classic, silents, etc. more

Such a fan of the Orem library! 4/17/2006

We come here all the time for books and movies. The Orem library has a really great media collection with tons of music and movies. They do charge a dollar to check out a movie, but that dollar goes towards buying new movies, so I really don't mind that at all. I've just about always been able to find what I'm looking for there, and am happy to support that trend. I always like to check out their 'for sale' area as well where books they can't use go for 50 cents to a dollar each. Every once in a while you'll find something amazing, otherwise there's a lo of stuff from the '70s. I'd also recommend poking around the children's book area. They have some cute and fun displays there that are always worth looking at. Enjoy your public library! more

Good media selection for a small price 4/5/2006

One thing that sets the Orem library apart from others in the area is its media selection, particularly the videos and DVDs. Their selection is by far the largest I've seen at any public library in the area. They even carry new releases. However, the catch is that movies aren't free. They are $1 per week, but this allows the library to offer the selection it does. Their cds and books on tape/cd are also great as far as selection goes. They also just added a lot of new board books, which my daughter loves. The library also houses the Parent Education Resource Center where you can check out free educational toys, games, and videos for your kids. Finally, the library is one of the great supporters of Orem's annual Timpanogos Story Telling Festival. Needless to say, we visit often. more

Underfunded Public Library 8/18/2005

The Orem Public Library has issues. First off it shares its facilities with the Orem City Center which in and of itself makes it a rather odd location, but further the rates at which DVD's must be checked out ($1 per rental) makes it more like a Blockbuster or Hollywood Video than a real library. The library still does have a good selection of materials however, but I would recommend the Provo City Library instead. more
