Denied me use of a coupon for a free 30 day trial because I had a membership there 7 years ago. Nowhere on the coupon did it say ""not valid for previous members"". This is sending out false promotional advertising. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 11/23/2012

This is the Best gym with the most floor space and more than enough equipment. It has everything you need to look your best and stay healthy and fit. The pricing is reasonable and the training staff is always helpful. I've been working out there for more than a year and I have never been more satisfied. more

nice gym 2/27/2012

I have worked out in several gyms over the years. This gym is pretty big and has alot of cardio equipment. At night its pretty busy with all the classes but I stick to the free weight section which is huge. All around its a nice gym with everything a person could want..except a pool. But that's ok. more

Love this place-Just won the biggest loser contest 2/8/2012

I would have never lost the weight if they had not challenged me. Plus I won $500.00. If you are looking for a great place to work out I recommend it. I have been there since it opened and the equipment is is real good for me. I like the machines over the free weights. Plenty of elipticals. Never have to wait. Got a great area for me to practice dance steps all by my self. Derek and the staff are nice people to deal with. more

Really, Don't Join - Worst Gym Experience Ever 1/19/2012

So, I've lived pretty much everywhere and had a gym membership in each city.... Omni is by far the worst. The reasons listed in no particular order as follows: A) the gym is extremely unsanitary. The locker rooms are carpeted which means all of the various liquids get absorbed into the floor, and they don't have any wipes or spray on the exercise floor like most gyms do so you can disinfect the main parts of the machines before use. B) The equipment is not well maintained. While I was a member there were several pieces of key equipment that were broken and to this day they still have ""Out of Order"" signs on them. This usually means that when I went to do cardio, if it was anywhere near peak hours, then I had to wait forever for someone to finish or just go home. C) Their membership contracts are a joke. I'm still trying to get mine cancelled after moving 1,000 miles away, mailing a copy of my lease, and calling and speaking with the manager twice. This has been going on for over a year and they are still charging my credit card. Trust me I'm not stopping until they've refunded every single month's worth of fees. Bottom line - if you are looking for a gym in Mobile area, join Planet Fitness which was right up the street by Bruno's and is a million times better even if it is a little smaller. more

Ridiculous! 12/13/2011

Horrible experience! Unfortunately this site is not allowing me to post my entire review, but you can find it on other review sites. To sum it all up, I was accused of cheating the system by the manager, Derek, because his employee(s) issued me a free pass when I went to sign up. This was done as Peter wanted to get me an affordable monthly rate as I had just been laid off. Apparently this upset Derek as he said he told me before that I couldn't have any free passes. This is untrue as the only time he and I really ever spoke was when Omni mailed me a 3-month free promotion over the summer and he told me that I really shouldn't be qualified for it as I worked out under my dad's membership before. Less than a week of me using my pass, Derek storms into the gym (he wasn't even working that evening) and walks up to me and my group of friends sitting on the couches. An instructor was also present. He starts yelling at me and belittling me in front of everything. He wouldn't even listen to what I had to say. I was so embarrassed and shocked that this was even going on. I didn't understand what I had done to deserve this, and I had no idea why he was SO angry. He continued to yell at me, and even went as far as to mock me. I kept my cool as I was not going to stoop to his level and yell back, which is obviously what he wanted me to do. Please find another gym to attend. There are plenty of others in our city, and I'm sure their managers won't act so unprofessionally, rude and angry. more

Poor Business Practices (to say the least)! 12/6/2011

This gym has very bad business practices (to say the least).\r \r When I signed up I explained that my job would be transferring me to another state in a few months. I was told by the manager Derek that I could pay $10 additional per month along with the first and last months fees, then my membership would be month to month and I could cancel at any time. He explained that when my job relocation takes place, ""just give us a 30 day notice and there would be no problem."" When my job relocation took place, I gave my 30 notice as agreed upon. I also provided a copy of my drivers license with my new address. A month later, I noticed a charge on my credit card for my monthly fee. I called and spoke to Derek, the manager. He explained that a drivers license with the new address was not enough to cancel a membership. He requested a copy of a signed lease. I immediately faxed him the signed lease. A week later my credit card received two additional charges. I called and spoke to Derek again. He appologized and explained it would be taken care of same day. He even called me and explained it was done. After several days of reviewing my credit card activity looking for a credit, I called my credit card and disputed the charges. A month later I received notice from Omni they were turning the amounts into collections.\r \r I am very disappointed with Omni Fitness. I had a membership with them for over 2 years previous to this membership. I highly recommend customers take my experience into review when considering signing up with this gym. more

Place is a rip-off 9/6/2011

I was a member of Omni Fitness and my member id: 9301-123501. Mine is a month to month membership I called National and Omni fitness many times and asked them to cancel it but I was asked to send a fax instead, as they cannot do cancellations online. I did send a fax back in June but I was still charged in the months of July and August. So I called to check why I was getting charged and they told me I have to mail them but not fax. I do not know why they asked me to fax when they know that they need it in mail. I am sorry to say but I did not like the way the customer service is working here. I am going to call my credit card and let them know that National fitness is charging me even after canceling my account. This is not my mistake as I faxed them as was asked. This place is a complete rip-off and do not sign any contract with them. They would keep charging you even after canceling your account. more

Nice place 3/6/2011

So, this gym has everything. It has every machine possible and class to help in your individual goal, whatever that may be. The reason it's only a 3 star is because they need to be a little more organized. Their main thing is the nursery/daycare. They need to add more to the daycare to make it better. Also, if you do have children (young children, diaper age children) if they go number 2 then you will be pulled off the floor to go and change them. The problem with this is that you only have 2 hours for the nursery. Now, I prefer to take classes and by the time that I am pulled out of the class to go and change the diaper it could have already been done. But, not just that I've lost about 15 minutes of class time...and my own time of working out. The nursery needs alot of updating and needs alot of attention put to it. When I called to suggest this I was told that I needed to speak with the daycare director. \r The other reason it's only a 3 star is because really, this is the type of gym where you negotiate your contract. It seems that they are only interested in how much money they can get out of each individual. If they would have a consistant price policy and special they would benenfit alot more. This gym could be so much more if they could just get it together. It's beautiful and like I said has everything necessary for your individual goal and potential. \r The instructors are great. I love taking the classes. They help push you through the workout. The classes are big and it is hard for them to know you individually, which is okay as long as they keep up the motivation in the class. \r Hope that they can take more advantage of their best selling point which is the nursery/daycare. And get organized alot better so that I will remain a member of this facility. more

Best Gym Experience Ever!! 1/12/2011

This place is a fantastic place to workout! I must admit, I was a bit skeptical at first (especially with the signature of a 2 year contract), but I can honestly say this gym is the best one I've ever joined. I've trained at two other gyms before (Anytime Fitness and Snap). Both were ok; the staff were nice but they didn't genuinely care about your success. Omni is different. After signing up, you're scheduled a consultation with a personal trainer and a nutritionist to help you reach your fitness goals. The staff are friendly and always smiling, the smoothie bar is excellent, and best of all, fitness classes are included with your membership (no extra charge!!). The restrooms/lockers are the cleanest and nicest facilities I've ever seen in a gym, the cardio cinema is awesome (time flies while you're working out and watching a movie at the same time), and there is a women's only exercise room, which is a nice change of pace if you're self-conscious at first. Trust me--this gym is the best one in Mobile (hands down)! more

Glad to see this gym going in a good direction again! 1/11/2011

I have been a member of this gym for three years and was a former member of planet fitness. For the past the past year, the customer service had dwindled down to nothing and it seem like all they were after was money. About a month ago the manager at the time left and a new manager, Derek, is here that seems to be more about the customer than the money. The environment is back to what is used to be, the staff is nicer, and place is a little bit cleaner than it used to be as well. I know a lot of people left within that time because they were so dissatisfied with how they were being treated and being cheated out of their money. I was so close to leaving this place but the direction that Derek is taking the gym made me change my mind for the better and I hope that many people who left will give this gym a second chance. Many of my friends are returning and I hope others do the same. more

Best Gym in Mobile 1/11/2011

I love the gym and the entire staff is great! They are very helpful and are always available to answer any questions I do have. The gym is very large and there is plenty of equipment to get a hold of especially during the times of 5pm - 7pm when the after work crowd is there. I have been to many gyms before but the environment is so great here, I will be staying here for a while. more

Nothing worse than a thief.... 11/13/2010

Scumbags, the lot of them. Omni and National Fitness are all the same company with different names. The owner Johnathan is in business with the dirtbags at National Fitness, his business partner owns National Fitness. Don't believe for a second that they aren't tied together. After we canceled, and sent them our documentation that we had moved, they first tried to say that a utility bill wasn't proof enough of a move. Finally got a letter from them declaring the account closed, and that they would issue a credit for the last charge. They then tried to charge me an additional four times, in addition to not issuing the credit that they promised. It wasn't an error, as they actually charged me more than the monthly amount.... I'll post again as I am currently having my bank reverse the charges and let you know what Johnathan has to say. My advice is to not deal with them. Don't bother signing a contract -- they don't honor their commitments, so why enter into an agreement with them? Little reading at rip-off report ... You can't post a link here, but if you search for National Fitness at rip-off report. more

Will take your money!! 5/26/2010

They will get you sign a contract and automatically renew it. When you try to cancel, Omni will not help you. They will tell you to write a letter to National Fitness in Layton, UT. National Fitness will then tell you that no letter was received and continue to bill you. I signed a two-year contract and moved before the contract ended. With no successful attempts to cancel, I paid the remainder of my contract. Then I was told that my contract was automatically renewed. DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT WITH THIS GYM!!! more

DO NOT TRUST THIS GYM!!!!! 5/24/2010

I signed a contract with Omni in Mobile, AL. I was told several times that if I needed to relocate to let them know. I did, then I was told they no longer deal with membership cancellation and to contact National Fitness by letter. I did, only to later find out that my letter was not received. I paid the remainder of my contract. Then, I found out that my membership was automatically renewed. Once again, the only way to cancel is to contact National Fitness by mail. DO NOT TRUST THIS GYM. FIND ANOTHER ONE. IF YOU STILL DECIDE TO JOIN, DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT. THEY WILL NOT LET YOU OUT OF IT. THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY!!! Pros: No pros after trying to leave. Cons: THEY WILL LIE TO YOUR FACE!!!!! more

Poor Billing Service 7/18/2008

Although the facilities are clean and well-maintained, the billing service is terrible. They will sneak in plenty of extra charges and automatically renew you if you don't cancel and get that cancellation confirmed in writing. Be careful with these guys... Pros: Good machines and classes Cons: Sneaky Billing, Mediocre Staff more
