I took my family here as a special outing to thank them for all their support. I was told it was a good place to visit. WRONG! The food is was bland, undercooked, and over priced....

The best mediocre italian in town! 4/16/2007

If you want to wait in line for mediocre italian, the Olive Garden is the place for you. If you don't want to wait in line for mediocre italian, check out Zio Johnos. If you don't want to wait in line for good italian, the Brown Bottle in North Liberty is more up your alley. more

Olive Garden - A taste of Italy in Iowa 12/2/2006

We've eaten at OG on many occasions. Today it was for lunch with my Grandmother for my birthday. We got there around 1:30 and we still had about a 15 minute wait for a table. They were busy yet. But it is Christmas season so many weary shoppers were probably getting a late lunch too. On today's meal was: Chicken strips and pizza (for my 2 daughters) Minestrone soup for my grandmother Steak Gorgonzola-Alfredo for me For the life of me, I can't remember what my wife ordered. I know it was a pasta dish (does that narrow it down or WHAT?) I know my daughters loved their meals, they ate real well. My wife later mentioned that she wished she would have been more careful on what she ordered since she needs to be mindful of the balance of her intake. I heard no complaints from my grandmother, so I KNOW she liked her soup. With my Steak Gorgonzola, I loved the steak. But did not care for the rest of the dish. I was feeling adventurous since it was my birthday and ordered something I hadn't gotten before. We have received top notch service at OG in the past, so we were a little disappointed with the server we had today. Oh he was attentive and helpful, but still not the caliber of server we've been spoiled with previously. Also on our check we got the chance to answer their survey and get $4 off our next meal. Great! Our only complaint with the delivery of the check was the manager person who brought it basically threw the mints on the table. This is not the caliber of service that we have experienced many times in the history of dining at OG, so I know we will be answering this survey to convey our opinions to OG too. Don't let our experience shy you away from OG. They have great food and a nice atmosphere. Your experience has a high likelihood of being top notch. Check out their web site not only for the nearest location to you, but also their menu is online as well. http://www.olivegarden.com/ more

Olive Garden Restaurant 5/27/2006

This is my favorite Coralville restaurant. The atmosphere is cheerful and the service usually very good. I like the variety of menu selections even though I'm a sucker for the all you can eat Soup, Salad and Breadsticks. This is a great lunch choice. A friend and I often go to the Olive Garden for lunch after walking for exercise at the mall. If you plan to get there about 1:30 there is no wait on week-days and the staff all has more time to devote to you. The new menu item Chicken Caprese is very good. It features grilled chicken breasts on a bed of angel hair pasta, with fresh basil and grilled tomatoes and topped with a savory butter and herb sauce. Not so heavy as meals with alfredo sauce but every bit as good. more

The Olive Garden...a taste of Tuscany in Coralville, Iowa!!! 9/14/2005

Now I am a hard person to please when it comes to good Italian food. You see, I married an Italian and when I joined with his clan I quickly learned that not only is RAGU a bad word but few can make "pasta" like Grandma used to make. After 15 years I have learned to make sauce from scratch, a passable eggplant Parmesan and even appreciate Prosciutto, so when THE OLIVE GARDEN came into town I was a bit on the hesitant side. What if it didn't live up to hubby's expectations? What if their pasta wasn't al'dante'? I swallowed my fears and decided to try it at least once....and so began the long love affair with THE OLIVE GARDEN. Now I am not a big eater and since my kids are pretty picky, hubby and I began to frequent this restaurant in earnest ,when our youngest began school. Taking advantage of the soup and salad specials, we both quickly found out that not only does THE OLIVE GARDEN use quality products in their menu, but they hire some of the most personable people around to work in their establishment. The prices are reasonable both for lunch and for dinners and the array of wines available are wonderful....be sure to ask for a recommendation of wine...the waiters there really know their wine! Parking is pretty nice except on "game day" when most any restaurant worth eating at is packed full with fans. Once again I must urge the reader to give THE OLIVE GARDEN a try........it is a restaurant, with a wonderful atmosphere and personable help as well! and until later...... arrivederci :-) more
