Old Town Fitplex has a little bit of something for everybody. The membership rates are higher than your average Bally's or Extreme Fitness in Chicago. However, if you're interested in rock climbing or martial arts, the gym has both. The rock climbing staff is experienced and dedicated with their route setting and the community there is friendly and fun. The wall is not very high, but because of the care taken to reset the wall frequently and set good bouldering and rope routes, there is great variety. I have progressed from a newbie to a 5.10 climber in a year here.
Besides the wall, there's also classes, a pool, a racquetball court, and a sparring rink. The martial arts coaches are well respected (you'll have to go somewhere else for more detail on this).
