Stray away from this place at all costs!! 1/7/2011

My grandfather had a hip replacement in November 2010, shortly after he was put into The Oaks. At first things seemed to be okay, everyone I spoke with seemed to be nice and have a good attitude. But within the last week things have greatly changed. On Wednesday I met with the social worker, Nancy and some staff to discuss my grandfather's discharge. It seemed to me that what they were saying was valid, that medicare was going to stop paying because my grandfather was not really progressing in therapy. So it was arranged that my brother pick him up on Friday (1/7/2011). He did, but shortly thereafter I got a text message from him saying that my grandfather was in the ER because his hip was out. NE GA Medical Center advised and told my brother there is no way that my grandfather could be cared for by one person, let alone two. The guy can not walk and he's very confused. When the hospital contacted the social worker, Nancy, she told them that we wanted him released. Which is very untrue. My statement at the meeting was, ""Well since he has to be released, his attitude for things might change at home and do better, because he's told me previous times he doesn't like it here"" , so yes I was willing to deal with it had what they said was true, but it was not, and Medicare was not the issue, the issue was this cold-hearted place manipulated my brother & I to not have to deal with my grandfather anymore, what good are they then at a nursing home if they can't handle a patient. In fact, he had 100 days on Medicare and hasn't even hit 60 days yet. So, my word of advice stay away from this place. I will be personally starting an investigation of this place with some help. All in all, I have some very harsh and cold words for these people. STAY AWAY IF YOU LOVE YOUR ELDERLY FAMILY MEMBERS!!!!!! I recommend Bell Minor out off of 129, they were great to my grandfather in 2009 after his first hip replacement and he was actually content there. more
