Hmm, not number one 4/8/2011

While on vacation in Orlando over the holidays, we asked some locals for a few suggestions and one person recommended Numero Uno for ""reasonable, authentic Cuban food"". Being from Chicago, I'm a little spolied with good food- but not picky. The dinner was not great. I've had Cuban before in Miami and Chicago made by Cubans and was very pleased. The meals here were mushy and all tasted the same. We had some really overcooked food and under cooked food. Unfortunate since we ordered like half of the menu to sample it all. Our service was great- but the only thing we were really pleased with was the sangria. I even called back and asked if I could know what was in it- but I received a very hostile ""I can-NOT tell you what is in it"". Well, honey. That's all you got going for you so I understand. more

Great Cuban restaurant! 10/20/2008

We really love this place...it's a great Cuban restaurant. We found Numero Uno after Jose's closed and we think they have great prices, terrific service but most importantly great food! They are always friendly, fast, they remember us! They have tasty sandwiches, really rich soups, tender black beans and the best mango slushies! Great place to eat for lunch or dinne they will work hard to get you in & out if you are in a hurry but let you kick back if you have time to relax. Plus they have efficient takeout. . We highly recommend them! They are right across from the new SuperTarget on Orange Avenue. Pros: Food, service, prices Cons: Parking can be tight. more

Authentic Cuban Food- I think not!! 3/27/2008

Whoever said that this restaurant serves authentic Cuban food has obvioulsy no clue what it is!! My father is Cuban and my husband and I were born and raised in the Cuban capital of the US- Miami. We recently moved from Miami and were desperately searching for Cuban food. We needed to order to go and happened to spot Numero Uno and were very disappointed with the food. I ordered a MediaNoche and 2 croquetas (ham croquettes) and my husband ordered a Pollo a la Plancha (grilled chicken breast) with congri and plantains and a side order of mariquitas( fried plantain chips). My sandwich was cold and the the cheese was not even melted, the croquetas were made of I don't even know what and certainly did not even resemble croquetas and my husband's food was so not made by a Cuban cook. Never again will we eat there! This is a Numero Uno place not to eat at!! =( more

Great food, reasonable price, more than enough food! 4/23/2007

This restaurant is great! Great service, great food and very reasonable prices. When you step into the restaurant it has a nice cozy feeling and you also see all of the awards it has won in the time it has been open. I reccomend this food to anyone who has a taste for hispanic food that is great! Pros: great service, food, and variety Cons: small parking lot more

I Love This Place! 2/22/2003

I've never been to Cuba, but atleast I can say that I've had AUTHENTIC Cuban food. The menu is huge and you can't beat the price for the portion you get. If you like authentic cuisine (i.e. not chain restaurants), this is a must eat. more

Missing Numero Uno 12/1/2002

My husband and I moved from Orlando to St Louis and we miss Numero Uno soooo much. We never had any thing bad there. The roast pork melts in your mouth. The rice and beans are too die for. Believe me when we come back to visit this will be one of our first stops. more

Great dining ! 10/7/2002

Staff happily greet you & seat you promptly. They also guide you through the menu & describe any foods that you may not have previously eaten. The food is freshly prepared & is truly delicious ! This restaurant is truly a great dining experience - great food, attentive servers & well priced. The only drawback for me was that I wish they would update the interior and exterior of the establishment. It's outdated and needs freshening up !! Pros: Great food, Good service more
