CALL SOMEONE ELSE FOR YOUR REPAIR!!!\r Awful experience- Called to have my washer repaired. Manoli was sent out rather quickly which was great. Problem is he said the washer needed $430.00 in repairs. I gave him a $100 deposit check. After he left I called my husband, he said look up the problem online. Within two minutes I knew what the problem was. Ordered the part- cost $100 and took me literally 3 minutes to install (this includes the time to take the lid off of the washer). Manoli told me my washer need a whole new motherboard and it would take along time to repair. NOT TRUE AT ALL! Called the company back after I knew the washer was fixed to request my $100.00 back. Lady told me the manager would call me back. Well I bet you can guess that no one has called me back and when I tried to call again- NO ANSWER to my calls. THEY RIPPED ME OFF FOR THE $100. Do yourself a favor and look the problem up online. If it is an over your head repair CALL SOMEONE ELSE! more

Wonderful Service 7/31/2007

My husband call Northern Refrigeration on Monday to get service for our Sub-zreo. We were told about the service call in advance which was great to know most companies dont tell you this. Also we were told a techician would call us in about an 45 min. and within 30 the tech called and said he would be at our house very shortly. The tech came and was in and out fast fixed the refrigerator and we were charged a fair price. I will call the company if I ever need help with any of my appliances. Thanks Keep up the great work. more


I called Northern Refrigeration Friday at 9:30am, and I requested a service call on my refrigerator. The nice gentleman told me I would recieve a call shortly. The service man called be back fast and he showed up at 11:30am. This was fast and great. Will call again if ever needed. more

The price quoted, ""which applies towards repair"", sounded very competitive. An appointment was offered for the next business day (Monday) between 8-10 a.m. The technician was to call with specifics. At 9:30 Monday, we had not heard from the tech and called to confirm the appointment. The same woman we spoke with Friday seemed confused and said she would have the technician call. The tech called 20 minutes later, said we were out of his way and that his first appointment for our area would be Wednesday. He then noticed he would be nearby later that morning and said he could keep the appointment after all but would arrive later, around 11:30. He said he would call in an hour with a more specific ETA. At 2:00 p.m. (still no phone call or technician) we called the office again. Again, we were referred to the technician who called and said he was one his way. The tech arrived around 3:00, complaining about our location and the ""lack of parking"" (there is free parking in the building, which he failed to notice). We told him the washer squealed loudly on spin, the timer on the dryer was broken and the dryer would not heat. He set the washer on spin and said the loud squealing was normal. He turned the timer dial on the dryer and said it was broken. He turned the dryer on and it heated fine. He explained the dryer had overheated (due to the broken timer) causing the unit to temporarily shut down the heating mechanism; this function had reset itself. The tech told us it would cost $450 to fix the timer, and suggested we use a kitchen timer (like the one we had sitting on the dryer). The entire visit took ~15 minutes. The tech said he wouldn't charge us for the washer that was ""normal"" but he charged $98 ($29 more than quoted) for discovering for himself that the timer was broken and explaining the dryer had reset itself. He gave us his phone number saying, ""Advice is free"". Apparently the $98 dollars and day off of work didn't count. Suggest you try elsewhere. Pros: Technician seemed friendly Cons: Zero customer service: long waits, calls not returned/don't answer phone, price higher than quote, ""diagnosis"" and ""solutions"" were common sense. more

After calling two times and speaking with a ""George"", I was told that a technician would get a hold of me by the end of the day. I was left with no reply the first time. I called a second time, and the gentleman told me the same story. I responded by saying if I don't hear back from a technician this time I will take my business elsewhere to which George replied, ""That's fine."" Horrible customer service which is surprising considering I chose to contact them based on the ""good"" reviews I'd seen here. This company obviously is not concerned with networking or having their business expanded. more

Super Service 5/11/2007

I had called several other companies and they all told me it would be next week before we could get service. So I called Northern Refrigeration and the nice lady that answered the phone told me that she could get a service guy out to our business today and all I could do was laugh, I just didnt belive that. But guess what the guy showed up 1 hour later. I was so relieved and he fixed the refrigerator on the spot. This company has great customer service and great service men. I highly recommend you get their number and keep it on your refrigerator. Pros: Wonderful customer service Cons: nothing bad to say about this company more

Best Service I have ever had in Chicago 5/11/2007

I made an appointment to have my Sub-Zero looked at. I really thought I would have to wait a couple of days for someone to come out. Within 30 mintues a tech. called me and said he would be there in one hour. The tech came and was very polite and found out the problem real quick. Plus another thing that was awesome was he carried parts with him,so that saved me for having to set up another appoitment. The tech was really great he even fixed the hindges on my dishwasher for free. Pros: Fast service, Great pricing ,Great Techs more

Never Showed Up 3/8/2007

I arranged for a technician to come to our apartment and fix our broken washer. He told me the next available appointment was in two days time, he would arrive between 11am and 1pm and would call me before coming over. Well, 1pm came and went and I heard nothing from either the technician or the company. I called the both and left messages asking what happened. I never heard back from either. I tried calling again the next day and again could not get ahold of anybody. Although the quoted price was VERY reasonable compared to other appliance repair companies, I would not recommend Northern Refrigeration based upon this experience. If something seems too good to be true, it usually is! Pros: Price - I guess, since they never performed any service Cons: Never showed up! more
