Beautiful Flowers 8/19/2005

Recently attended a wedding held at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens. It was absolutely beautiful. The garden area for the wedding was set up wonderfully and allowed the wedding party to concentrate on more important things--the wedding. The staff was welcoming and created a wonderful romantic enviroment for guests. Great wedding location. more

Norfolk Botanical Gardens Fishing 8/19/2005

Not too many people know it, but there is a prime fishing spot tucked away off of Azalea Garden Road, near the Botanical Gardens in Norfolk. Right before you enter the gardens, you will see a little parking area to your left. Park and walk into the wooded peninsula and fish right off the pier. You never know what you will catch! Watch out for the snapping turtles. more

Not just a bunch of flowers! 8/18/2005

The Botanical Gardens happens to be my absolute all time place to visit. It has so many different things to do and see. I love walking the gardens and seeing the statuaries. They are fabulous. The lakes and lillyponds are breathtaking and being able to take a boat ride makes that all even more special. Kids thoroughly enjoy taking the boat ride through the Gardens or they like the train and it is great! How do you even explain how beautiful it is here? It is also home to the NATO building and that is also a very unique place to see. There is a gift shop and an eatery on the grounds too. more

Norfolk Botanical Garden 8/14/2005

If you want to spend a lazy day enjoying a beautiful scenery, you should go to Norfolk Botanical Gardens. You can be adventurous and sign up for the classes which they offer... it's a great way to spend time with the family and receive a souvenir in doing so. The classes are pretty pricey though. If you plan on incorporating the classes in to your regular schedule, it might be wise to sign up for a meembership. That way, you can receive a discount. On the other hand, if you're there to visit the flowers, trees, and the wildlife, there are many different array of gardens to satisfy everyone's taste. I love the Fragrance Garden; just a reminder, do take your allergy pills if you have allergies before coming here. The landscape and hardscape is beautiful... if you're a homeowner, you can get lots of ideas here before you start/change your own garden. more

Great way to spend an afternoon! 8/11/2005

Norfolk Botanical Gardens is a nice way to spend a relaxing afternoon. You can walk around the gardens and view the variety up close. You can take a tram, which is a nice ride and the guide explains what you are looking at as you around the gardens. You can also go out on a boat ride and see the nautical side of the gardens. I recommend doing all three. You can also eat here and they have a really cool gift shop where you can purchase all sorts of cute things for yourself and others. I went here with a child, my mother and grandmother who was having a hard time walking. Everyone of us was able to enjoy the day. So if you are looking for something to do for people of all ages, this is a best bet! more

Beautiful Flowers 8/8/2005

The botanical gardens are a great place to go on a warm, sunny day - the entire park is well landscaped and maintained. The holiday lights display they put on every winter is also great fun, and is fun entertainment for the entire family. The hot chocolate and cookies that they sell during the holiday show are decent but slightly overpriced - however, since you stay in your car throughout the duration, feel free to bring your own stuff to keep the price down. Recommended! more
