Best

Many years ago, I had a very unpleasant experience at a Nordstrom in southern CA. Needless to say, I didn't go back for many years. I REALLY wanted a pair of fall boots to wear w...

Worst

The service ain't what it used to be. For example, I left a purse to be repaired January 1. The salesperson stated that it would take about a month for repair. No problem. It ...

Nordstrom 4/24/2006

I had the same question recently and a friend told me she takes things to Nordies - even things she hasn't purchased there. Check it out before you go - this is second-hand info - but I was intrigued. I know it's not in the neighborhood you were looking for though. . . more

Ahhh, Nordys! 4/21/2006

I love how when you walk into Nordstrom, you immediately feel like it's ok to be there, even if you have no intention of buying anything. The girls at the makeup counters are helpful and friendly - and will give you free samples of their products, if you want to try before you buy. You MUST visit Nordstrom during the half yearly sale - the shoe deals are incredible and I love being taken care of by the "shoe people" here. Always a great place to shop - a Seattle institution! more

Great customer service 4/15/2006

While the annual Nordstrom anniversary sale has not been as great in recent years, Nordstrom still knows how to draw a crowd. The crowds keep on showing up because of the great deals and fantastic customer service. You can show up with a pair of worn shoes that don't fit you and Nordstom will fix them or exchange them for free. Prices can be reasonable, especially during the sales. more

Nordstrom Grill--weird but true 1/21/2006

Beer-battered crunchiness. Tender, piping-hot fish. Nordstrom Grill has awesome fish 'n chips. Sounds weird, but I love 'em. Most fish places have a breaded outside, and the meat inside can sometimes be dry and fishy (especially when cod is used), but I was sold the first time I ate theirs at the Grill, because of the insane outer crunch and tender, high-quality fish they use (halibut, I believe). D-LISH. I have to mention that I normally wouldn't ever think to eat at the Nordstrom Grill, but I use to work at the store and it was my favorite work lunch when I was feeling kinda rich.... more

Brett Blake at Seattle Nordstrom 1/15/2006

Just before the holidays I asked if anyone knew of a great personal shopper for a man. Well, I found one. Brett Blake at Nordstrom's Flagship Seattle store was great with my husband. Here is the back story. I hatched a plan to get my husband a new wardrobe, or at least a start on one, as a Christmas gift this year. He has just had a career change and the 501s and hombre plaid that worked for him as a wine merchant is just not cutting it for a MLIS library analyst. He has great taste (in women's clothes too which used to sort of concern me...not really), but the whole thing can get overwhelming. This was not meant to be a complete and disorienting overhaul, just an update. Through a friend of a wife of a chef I found Brett Blake. Without an appointment (we called to offer, but were told to just "come on in") Brett met us for the first time and instantly connected with us (I was sworn to "listening"). He asked a lot of good questions and steered us to several basic, building-block pieces that literally doubled my husbands wardrobe through their versatility. Additionally, and this is where the value is for me, we got some general guidelines for future wardrobe purchases. Going forward, we will absolutely work with Brett again. Note: I wish I had known about Darcey Howard (http://members.judysbook.com/posts/revieweditems/service.aspx?ri=67497) while this scheming was going on...next time for sure! more

Vicki at Nordstrom 12/24/2005

I used the personal shopping service at Nordstrom (Downtown) with great success. Now that the specific shopper I worked with left Nordstrom, I tend to work with an elegant and knowledgeable woman named Vicki. You can find her in or around the Individualist department. more

The best place to get pics with Santa! 12/22/2005

We have been going to Nordstrom for Pictures with Santa for awhile...don't laugh but before I had my son my two sisters and I (also grown) would always go and get a picture for my Mom every year...hokey I know. This year is my son’s first Christmas and I wanted to do something very special and I knew right where to go. First of all, the backgrounds aren’t at all hokey, it looks very classy. Second, Santa actually looks real! And the nice thing is, even though we’re white, they also had an Asian and African American Santa if you wanted to get pictures with them. And they are so good with kids too, the little boy ahead of us did NOT want to sit on Santa’s lap, not only did they get him to, but they got a wonderful picture of him smiling. My son did wonderfully and I can’t wait to get the pictures back. The only cons are that it is on the expensive side and the pictures take around two weeks to get back. Other than that, I highly recommend Nordstrom! more

Nordstrom personal shopper service 12/17/2005

my uncle had great luck a few years back with a personal shopper from nordstroms. i've used them in the women's department and found it easy since they run all over the store looking for items while you just try things on. plus they have often brought me things i wouldn't normally try but end up liking very much. they are also great at thinking through the details like what shoes would go well with a new outfit (and don't forget hosiery and accessories). I'm sure men would also appreciate this attention to detail. the service is free and you just have to make an appointment. then you either inform your personal shopper what holes exist in you current wardrobe or what kind of events you need items for. maybe you already know all this and are looking for the actual name of a personal shopper in which case i'm sorry i can't help! k more

Luxury 11/16/2005

Nordstrom's Flagship store is located at the heart of downtown. The costumer service is excellent and the clothes are wonderful. A great location to begin the holiday shopping. One drawback is that it can be pricey in areas. more

A Lifelong Favorite 9/7/2005

I shop Nordstrom's very frequently because they have wonderful customer service. I may find an item for less somewhere else, but I choose to support Nordstrom's because of the fabulous service and quality I receive. The women's clothing sections generally are pretty fashionable and up-t-date and the teenage girl section, BP has cheaper versions of popular items, which is nice for those of us on a budget. more
