Nook Restaurant

I've been coming to the Nook for close to 5 years now, 2 or 3 times a week. At first the folks there were nice. We enjoy going there because of the bright airy feel and lots of locals go there. If It weren't fore Melinda, I wouldn't go there at all. It was lke a place to go see friends. However, after yesterday, we are never going there again. Melinda wasn't there, and I usually don't go on her day off (Thursday), mostly because I have a hard time getting a refill on our coffee when she is not there. The other two waitstaff act like you are putting them out. They are not attentive at all unless you are a man. Sometimes I will ask Joseph for a refill, he says Yes or No as a joke and then never brings it. Twice in one week I have found insects in my food: a small fly on my toast and another sort of pest in my salad. The manager was my waiter yesterday and she asked the men at tables all around me if she could refill their iced teas. She sacheted right by me a few times, if she were a good waiter she would see that I needed a refill but she just paid attention to the men in the cafe. When she did bring a refill it was the bottom of the carafe. I used to like going there, it is convenient and the prices are right. But I just got sick of the staff ignoring the refills...the insects in the food....the measly portions .I ordered a fruit bowl for $3.50 and the fruit barely covered the bottom of the bowl. There may have been 7 cubes of melon, TOPS. They do have a high turnover in the kitchen. I wonder why.....could it be the manager's attitude? Her daughter Melinda is SO nice, she is attentive and is everything you'd want in a waiter. Always smiling, brings you what you need and want. I overheard the manager one day when I asked for a refill of coffee, she said to someone in the kitchen that ""the old lady wants another cup of coffee"". I have left there angry many times, NO MORE! We just recently joined St. Anne's Catholic Church and were looking for a good breakfast after Mass; and wanted something other than a crowded IHOP or Denny's. After an internet search this morning, we found the Nook. and decided to give it a try. We had a wonderful breakfast with friendly and prompt service. It's a very small place which required a short wait, but we definitely enjoyed our breakfast and will return. Pros: Food very good; friendly service Cons: Very small with only a few tables more

I have been a customer of The Nook for about 20 yrs. & today was my last visit. I frequently order food from there to take back to work for myself & other employees. When ordering today at the window I was waited on by an unfamiliar rude employee. I placed the order with a request of extra grilled onions on the burger & on the patty melt. When the order was received I checked it & found grilled onions on the patty melt & chopped onions (not extra & raw looking) on the burger. I showed the burger to the employee & was given an explanation (in a very irritated manner) that the melted cheese on top of the onions would cook them. I gave her the box back & asked for the extra grilled onions like the ones on the patty melt. She still insisted they were the same so I started to open the box containing the patty melt to show her the difference & promptly had the window slammed in my face. A few minutes later the window opened, I was given back the burger box (not in a friendly manner) & the window was immediately shut. I checked the burger & found extra chopped onions on it (slightly grilled), decided it wasn't getting any better & left. By this time I was so upset from being treated in such a disrespectful manner that I was almost shaking, so halfway back to work I turned around & went back to The Nook. When I pulled up the manager opened the window, so I told her what happened & that I would like to return the food & receive my money back. She replied that she had been in hearing distance & nothing wrong was said or done by the employee. ENTIRELY WRONG! I would bet that if she had been in my situation & treated in such a rude manner she would of gone inside & demanded to see the manager immediately! Originally all I wanted was to return the food & let enough time pass to forget the bad episode before I went back again. After today's experience there will be no going back. Apparently management does not care how the employees treat customers. more

I was looking for breakfast and found The Nook Restaurant. I wish I had found this little restaurant a year ago when I moved to Tomball. Very good food at a fair price with very attentive and friendly service. I'll make this my breakfast stop rather than the chain restaurants. Pros: Good food, friendly service, fair price more

If you find yourself passing through the ever- growing town of Tomball, or simply interested in taking a little road trip on the weekend, then The Nook Restaurant is well worth your stop. Open for breakfast and lunch only, the quaint restaurant (located in the Klein's Supermarket Shopping area)offers exceptionally delicious food and wonderful service at very reasonable price. Located just off Hwy 249 on Main St., it is trully well worth straying off the ""beaten path"". Pros: Inexpensive, GREAT Service, Nice Atmosphere more
