Amazing Desserts ! 10/5/2011

My friends and I go here often for an end of the week pick-me-up and the cake cannot be beat ! The portions are enough to split with somebody and the price is fair for the quality of food ! more

Dinner for two? 6/20/2010

We went for dinner. The service was great, the staff very friendly and helpful The portions were quite small. I had the scallops and angel hair pasta w/squash. Their idea I believe, was to take two or possibly three, small scallops and quarter them for the sauce. The pasta serving was less than a cup and 1/4 of that was stuck firmly together. I will say the sauce had a very good flavor, if only the rest of the entree lived up to the sauce. My husband had shrimp w/asparagus. The shrimp was okay, but the asparagus tasted as if it had not been cleaned prior to cooking. A very generous slice of lemon cake for desert was a let down for an establisment that is well known for deserts. We expected a bit more for the money. If we ever go back, it will be only to give them a second chance on desert. Pros: Great atmosphere, friendly staff, good wine and bread Cons: small portioned entrees, lackluster desert more

Best desserts in town- great ambience 7/2/2008

Well, I know a lot of people have dogged the food and I can't speak to that...but they do indeed have the best desserts in town. Our service has always been great. I would recommend to request a table in the back room which is where all the art is, however I think the tables upfront may be slightly more comfortable. Pros: Great desserts and ambience Cons: A little pricey more

AWFUL 4/11/2008

Terrible food, My steak was cold and the sides looked like something from a freezer that had been frozen for far too long. Just stay away!!!! Pros: atmosphere Cons: food more

A bad omelet??? 2/11/2008

worst ever 10/20/2007

so i go to dinner here. we seat ourselves and wait for help. After about 10 minutes, we are still unhelped. I ask one of the waiters if they can help us and then like 5 minutes later he is back, oh yeah the restaurant is not crowded either. We order drinks and an appetizer at the same time. The next 5 minutes is the worst 50 in my life. We never see our waiter again until 50 minutes later...our drinks, brought out shortly after we ordered them are never refilled. Our appetizer comes out 50 minutes later. I say ""we dont really want this any more"" he goes ""what! you dont want your spinach dip"" I go ""yeah, we wanted it like 45 minutes ago""then he goes ""we'll we will take care of that for you, and your food is coming out right now""...yeah because that makes sense, bring the food out with the appetizer thats great . Then our food comes out. The food is about the size of a tiny filet and cost 15 dollars each, oh yeah it was absolutely horrible. Since when did a tiny thing of pasta cost 15 dollars> i could have made the same food at home for much cheaper. So after we scarf the food down in about 30 seconds because there is so little we ask for the check (we originally came here to eat dessert too because the desserts, from what I hear, are good) I didnt want to wait another hour for some dessert. They said they were slammed but they barely had anyone. I wasted 45 dollars on nothing. Ive been working in fine dining restaurants for 6 years and I could run circles around them and make the food by myself. The waiter was awwful the food was awful and being hungry after 45.00 spent on food is the epitome of awful Pros: trendy Cons: slow service, slow everything, small portions, overpriced more

Great Lunch 10/20/2007

My husband and I just had a great lunch here last week. Ron had to be out in 30 minutes for a meeting which didn't upset our server. We had two fantastic sandwiches - me a Rueben and Ron the Monte Cristo (we both really loved this one). Nonnah's is definately worth a trip the next time your in the area. We will pay this one another visit in the future. Enjoyed all the artwork in the gallery. Sorry we didn't have time for dessert as the cakes aroma was intoxicating. Pros: food, service, price Cons: parking more

Horrific 10/1/2007

Simply put the worst food ever. My food was ice-cold and just bad. Service was appalling, I cannot believe this place stays in business. TERRIBLE more

Cool, intimate dessert bar 11/24/2006

Upscale little place in the vista, great to share a dessert and conversation with friends. It is a little too limited on the dessert menu, however, and service can be slow. Still, the music is nice and relaxing. Pros: Nice atmosphere for date Cons: limited menu more

Disastrous place to buy a meal. Stick to the desserts, which is what everyone else but me was doing. I was a tourist. I didn't know better. 8/26/2006

I ordered the filet mignon dinner, which came with mashed potatoes and zucchini. I was the only one in this rather empty restaurant to be ordering a meal, which tipped me off pretty early on. Unfortunately, not early enough! I had already ordered my $18.00 entree, plus $3.50 extra for a tiny salad that was saturated with dressing. When I saw the waitress bringing my plate I was immediately dissapointed. It was obvious that this meal was a rip off as the plate was descending onto the table. The filet was small and thin (it looked like no filet I have ever seen), and had a strange color. It tasted awful. Too salty. It was tough and grizzled. It was much worse than any steak that is included with scrambled eggs at a highway truck stop for $5.95. Much worse. Somebody doesn't know how to buy quality meat at this place. The chef did not know how to cook high quality food. There was no presentation at all. Small portions just placed on a plate. To add to this travesty of a meal, the mashed potatoes were obviously not homemade. I could not believe this restaurant had the gall to pretend to be a fine dining establishment and then try to pass this mess off at the prices they were asking. Really atrocious. The hostess/waitress seemed embarrassed about my dismay at this meal and was very sweet about everything. I was given a 20% discount, which I felt was a decent handling of the situation. But something has to be done about this WAY OVERPRICED menu, and whoever it is that buys the product the restaurant is passing off as high-end. Pros: They were willing to try and make me feel better about my bad food and what it cost. Cons: Worse food and prices I have ever had anywhere. more

Awful! 2/14/2006

I've never written a review on this site but after a horrible Valentine's Dinner at Nonnah's last night, I had to--first visit and last. The restaurant itself has a very nice, intimate atmosphere. But the service was poor, the menu was odd and overpriced (we were told the house salad was a ""free extra"" with each entree on account of Valentine's Day--the bill arrived and we were charged $2.00 ""special fee"" per salad. On top of that, the coffee arrived lukewarm and weak (when we asked for a refill, the waiter picked up our cups and took them to the kitchen to refill!?!) and the food was not only awful it was cold. Cons: Expensive, No clue on service, Food horrible more

good dessert selection 1/12/2006

They do have a great dessert selection. The menu is a little overpriced, but it's expected for a small cafe. We sat at a small, uncomfortable, wobbly table and enjoyed the coffee and tiramisu, but I've had better. Our waitress was nervous and obviously new. She must have stopped at our table 20 times while my friend and I chatted. I haven't been back since. more

Delicious! 11/9/2005

Best desserts in town. HUGE selection -- something for everyone. Wonderful coffee. Cool after-show crowd following arts performances downtown. Elegant atmosphere. Great first-date place for dessert. Pros: Big menu, Ambience, Taste Cons: A little pricey more

Awesome desserts, good apps! 9/9/2002

This place has great small entrees - appetizer size - and fabulous desserts! A sure bet! more
