Good price, decent food 9/26/2011

I went to Nonna yesterday for dinner. I was sat right away which was great. The restaurant is a bit cramped which wasn't a huge issue for me but I would have liked it more spacious. The waiter was okay. I am in food service and I completely understand how it is... however, he only checked on us 3 times... for a drink, the food, and the check. He didn't ask us how anything was, if we needed anything, etc. The food was okay. I ordered the fettuccine alfredo and honestly, I've tasted better. I love garlic but I think it was too overpowering and almost made the dish taste burnt. I don't know if I would go back. I've been to better italian restaurants so this would probably be last on my list right now. more

Surprisingly great! 9/8/2010

I have been to this restaurant many times with my wife, and it never ceases to surprise us- we thought it was going to be just a neighborhood second-rate eatery, but every dish is actually quite delicious. The mozzerlla is homemade, and the wine list is reasonably priced with great choices. i strongly recommend it. more

Uninvited dinner guest 5/29/2009

My friends and I went to Nonna the other night and I was excited after reviwing the menu online and reading the reviews....however the last thing you want as you sit down and start to sip you wine is to look down and see a giant insect (we know the one I'm talking about, but this siterdoesn't allow it to be used-very interesting by the way) walking on your purse! The diners next to us also experienced a disturbing ""guest"" during their meal as well. The wait staff was told, but really didn't seem phased by what had occurred. more

an Italian gem! 11/23/2008

Sometimes you seek out treasures, other times you discover them. My father and I discovered Nonna last year. It's a rustic, warm and welcoming place that seems to say 'life is great' the minute you walk in the door. The decor is like an Italian villa that's been re-purposed for a restaurant. Wine bottles trim the ceilings and old photographs of past guests cover the South wall. The waiters greet you with genuine smiles and the manager is always circling without hovering. Pros: everything more

Prima! 4/3/2008

I went here last night (Wednesday) with a date and could not have been happier with the experience. We were seated right away, at a window seat no less, and the waiter was extremely attentive. The wine list had alot of interesting options and we were extremely pleased with the one we rather arbitrarily chose based on description alone. My entree of pork wrapped around sausage over polenta was perfection - with the pork being extremely tender. My date's mushroom pasta was likewise delicious and the simplicity + quality of it was similar to Italy. Also, the bread had a really unique texture which I thoroughly enjoyed (flatbread strips that were crunchy on the outside with a slight chewiness on the inside). Would definitely go back to Nonna!! Pros: ambience, value, bread, food, everything more

My husband and I went to Nonna about two days ago. There service was really good. The staff was so kind to us. The food was also great, and the menu gave us alot of option to choose from. Great value, Delicious Italian, Romantic 4/16/2007

I went to Nonna for dinner with my boyfriend upon realizing that the Chef Sammy DeMarco used to work as sous-chef under Gray Kunz, who we love. We decided to try Nonna out and had a lovely, romantic dinner. We were thrilled with the reasonable prices - $5-7 for aps, entrees in the teens, and nice wines by the glass. The space is cozy and warm, and the food was very good. Pizza had nice flavor, lasanga was rich and delicious, and pork with polenta was perfectly cooked. What a find! We will absolutely go back - I think we have a new neighborhood haunt. Pros: Good food, Great prices, Romantic Cons: Busy servers more

Great antipasto and wine 4/1/2007

Wait forever for a table 12/27/2006

Went on a wednesday after we called and were told it would be 20 min for a table, when we arrived they said 10 min- parked us at the bar and it was ONE and A HALF HOURS for a table, the food is okay but definitely not worth this kind of wait, at least if theyd been honest we could ve left and gone somewhere been here multiple times theyre always out of half the items on the menu and though somethings are great a lot is just so so..... more

I Can't Believe I Ate the Whole Thing 1/1/2006

The second I walked into Nonna, I knew I was in for a good meal. The decor was pleasant to look at, not over done like some restaurants I've been to. I went to Nonna on a Sunday, when you can get a course six meal for about $20. All the food was tasty, although nothing was exceptional. In all I give Nonna a thumbs up. Pros: Good Food., Great Decor. more

great service and food 12/2/2005

i visited nonna a few nights ago. right away i noticed the warm, homey environment. we declined a two person table right next to the door, and the host offered us the next available table, which was a large one in the back in the corner, a wonderful change from the often snobbish behavior often found at other restaurants where they will not seat two people at a table that can seat four because they're waiting for that larger party that half the time doesn't even arrive. the portions were perfect, not over the top like some italian places, and the food was fresh and delicious, the service attentive but not intrusive. i very much enjoyed the rigatoni with wild boar sausage. nonna is a great neighborhood spot! Pros: service, food, atmosphere more

Cute place! 9/26/2005

Cool, quaint UWS Italian 8/26/2005

i was wary of this restaurant given it's changed it's name & theme what seems like 3 times in the last 5yrs, but nonetheless we went and really enjoyed ourselves. we were a little baffled that they had run out of mozzarella, but nonetheless we plowed out and we're very pleased. the chef whipped up a special cold antipasta plate for us that we could used as our entree of all three of us, it was huge & awesome combination of flavors. also very happy with the pasta, the serving size wasn't monsterous which was very nice and the food was everything we had hoped. totally like it, no strikes against this place Pros: Antipasta, Serving Size, Ambience more
