FROM BEST RESTAURANT TO WORST 9/27/2010

I had a group of friends in town and could not wait to share Nolita House with them! It has been my favorite brunch spot for about 2 years and recommend to everyone. Boy, was I wrong. Either they are under new management or it was just an extremely bad day! What I used to consider the 'best bloody mary' in the city was quite possibly the WORST. Portions are considerably smaller - we only received fries with our meals instead of the usual skinny fries with house salad. Apparently they only give one items now, not both as the menu still indicates. The Eggs Benedict and Casserole were both over done - overall, one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had in the city. My old staple has been retired. more

GREATTT !! Pros: 2 for 1 drafts n $5 drink special! $2 tacos Cons: wish they had more sit at the bar!! more

good food,good value 2/23/2009

Stopped with my grand daughter for an early dinner. Most surprised as to how good it was. I was expecting a typical but mediocre dinner and was impressed by the quality of the food. Pros: food more

Nolita salad Super.. 10/27/2008

Wonderful service & great food at very reasonable prices are hard to find these days in NY, but the Nolita House has all 3. \r \r So far, I've been here twice and we've tried the Chicken wings, Schrimp Tacos, Steak, and the nolita. All are very YUMMY! \r \r It gets crowded pretty quickly, so I suggest coming early as there are no reservations.\r Pros: salad, service more

The Nolita Salad is FABULOUS! 7/30/2008

Seriously, I think it is the best salad! Restaurant is very cool and relaxed. Seems like it would be fun for happy hour. Highly recommend it! Pros: cool restaurant, food more

Better than most 7/15/2008

I finally got a chance to get back to Nolita House!!\r My freinds always call the shots. We enjoyed the food and and the bartender was cool. I missed the manager and his personal touch. I was not able to locate him and they said he hadn't worked there since forever. \r The menu has changed some but they still had my personal favorite, Mac and Cheese.\r They use like 6 different cheeses in it and bake. I first visited during the world cup and will continue to as long as they make macaroni and cheese.\r It looks as though I need to go for bluegrass brunch after hearing all about it. Chow for now. \r Pros: Macaroni and cheese Cons: change in workers that I knew more

Best Brunch 5/11/2008

Greatest brunch that my kids took me to. There were eight of us. Food came out perfect & tasty. Everyone had a great time. Love the free mimosas & sangria! Wait staff, very friendly & band was fun. Different than your typical jazz. Highly recommend to families. more

Never Bring Large Groups Here! 5/5/2008

I had a terrible experience here with a large group on a Saturday night. The restaurant charged us a ""room fee"" of $10 a head for dinner and didn't even give us a room. We were thrown into a corner by the window which had large cracks and caused the temperature to be unbearable. The service was painfully slow. The whole 3 course meal took 3.5 hours. The kitchen couldn't handle our request and as a result, our food came out cold. Additionally, the restaurant tried to charge us the room fee and prefix fee for 2 people that didn't show up even though the manager had specifically told us that we would only pay for the people who came. It took a lot of arguing for them to remove the 2 no show charges from our bill. The whole experience left me with a very nasty taste in my mouth. Cons: Very bad for large groups, poor service, overpriced weekend prefix, very cold by the window more

Decent Food for a Long Wait 8/22/2007

The wait time was ridiculously long for brunch. Over an hour. The hostess was honest about the wait time though. The waitstaff are very nice here. The place had decent food with a band playing in the background. The place is a bit cramped but I think that's the draw of the place. Overall, a decent place to try. Pros: Decent Food Cons: Long wait more

great brunch and comfort food 8/5/2007

Great place to have brunch. No frills casual dining experience for those mornings when you just wanna eat. The mac and cheese w bacon is out of this world. For brunch the brick oven eggs were great, a nice little spin on a frittata.Brick oven french toast was more like bread pudding but still tasty.could not ask for a better bargain in the city. will definitely be back for more. Pros: great food and service Cons: none more

A ""must try"" in NYC 6/17/2007

We were trying to find a restaurant in a good location, close to the night life in both Soho and Bowery Street, had a variety of great food, good service and was not too expensive...Nolita House surpassed all requirements! I was a little nervous since most reviews talked about their amazing brunch and we were going for dinner but it was an amazing meal. We each had something different, ranging from the mushroom risotto with shrimp and truffle oil, goat cheese/mushroom pizza, turkey burgers and empanadas - and we were all incredibly happy with our meals and did quite a bit of sharing. The pitchers of sangria were also above par and a great value. Above all, our service was great! Our waitress was incredibly prompt and attentive, yet not too over-bearing and she was so friendly. I only wished I lived closer to Nolita House, but I will definitely return! Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere, Value Cons: Not closer to my apartment! more

Nolita Nouse Bluegrass Brunch 6/7/2007

This place is great! I have been In NYC for 25 years and this is one of the best places to have brunch that I have run across. The Burger and fries Tops! cheeses and salads great! Beer and Wine! \r lots to choose from!\r And If you go in for Brunch on Saturdays 12:30 - 3:30 you will hear some of the most authentic Bluegrass and Country music around these parts! The band on Saturdays is called 'Copper Kettle' and they do partys and weddings too! Love it! Pros: All good fun! more

Bluegrass Brunch 5/21/2007

As a Southern transplant, it was such a treat to find a place that had a bluegrass breakfast! Music was fantastic, but doesn't start until 12:30 or 1:00, so keep that in mind for timing your visit. I had the French toast, which was more like fruit-topped bread pudding than a traditional slab o' bread--unexpected, but DELISH (best I have ever had). Friend had a burger, which he said was ok. Brunch includes a cocktail (mimosas or sangria, but alas, no bloody maries), soda or juice and prices are extremely reasonable. The restaurant itself is really cute (schoolhouse theme with a cheeky twist) and the service was good. Will go back! Pros: Great French toast, good deal, bluegrass Cons: A little cramped (but no more than a lot of other places in NYC) more

Can't wait to go back 3/31/2007

I went to Nolita House for brunch with a friend a few weeks ago. The restaurant is lovely, very nice and mellow. The space and decor are cozy and warm, really inviting and un-pretentions. The hostess was wonderful and friendly. There was some wait, and she was totally honest about how long it would be (not your standard 10 minutes that turn into an hour). We didn't want to wait for a table and ended up eating at the bar, which was just fine. I had excellent baked eggs with ham and cheddar. And my friend ordered french toast that looked almost like bread pudding, tasted amazing, and made me regret ordering the eggs. There was also a live bluegrass band playing that was very good and did not overwhelm conversation. Can't wait to try Nolita House for dinner. I highly recommend it! Pros: Excellent comfort food, great ambience more

Cute And Cosy 12/29/2006

The Nolita House is reminiscent of a brick stoned bar that is situated on the second floor but happens to be a cosy spot in the Soho area where one can enjoy great food. The cheeses, pasta, and salmon were all very well prepared and the staff was quite nice although lazy at times. Prices weren't bad, probably fair given the amount of food that was provided. Beware of bringing large groups here, considering the place is not very large and space is tight. Consider bringing a date here for the wine and scene. Pros: Food, Ambiance Cons: Parking, Service more

great cheeses, owner is knowledgeable and friendly 11/15/2006

i love this place! a friend and i went one night and had a nice long meal without being rushed at all. we started with drinks, an appetizer, a cheese plate, and then a main course. the cheeses were so lovely, especially with the wines that were recommended to us by the owner, who definitely knew what he was talking about. my only complaint is that the vegetables that came with my main course (a delicious roast chicken) was a little too salty, but otherwise i am definitely going back here! more

great food! 9/23/2006

Great food! Excellent service! Great price as well! I also love the specials on different weekdays. A great and fun place for brunch or dnner. more
