Great bar, awesome tunes and a fun crowd filling the dance floor. Barman mixes one of the best Apple Martinis in the blink of an eye Pros: Great tunes

I've ended up at this place accidentally three times so far for parties. After the first, I wouldn't have gone again if I realized it was the same place. It seems constantly crowd...

Good Birthday Party Spot 5/26/2010

I had my birthday party here last year and it definitely did the trick. I was looking for something a little more dressy than an Irish pub/sports bar, but nothing too pretentious or clubby, and this was a great in between. We got there around 10/10:30 which was early enough to score some couches (crucial for bags and coats) and we danced the night away in the dark bar. Overall I was very pleased and would definitely revisit. more

awesome 6/20/2009

id been here once and the muzik was soo good i had a bday party here a few days later. loved it compared to other places that tried to charge me an arm & a leg!! i needed seating for 15 but only got enough chairs for about 6 ppl but we were dancing/at the bar all night so it didnt really matter Pros: great staff, cute boys, good dj, no cover! Cons: reserved seating more

great, friendly service 5/21/2009

Fun, lively and loud...drinks are fairly cheap, bartenders are quick and friendly (especially Jonah!) and the music is great. will be back soon. more

real new york bar, one of my faves 3/13/2009

I have been to No Malice a few times and it has always been a great place to hang out. On the weekends they have awesome d.j.s and music to dance to, and there is a great energy in the place. All the staff have always been very friendly, even though it gets really busy. Sometimes i've had to wait to get in, but its always worth it and i've never had to wait too long. I live in the east village, and i've stopped in a couple times on the weeknights and its been a really relaxed neighborhood feel. good drinks, good music, good service just about all i need in a place. Pros: great djs, relaxed atmosphere Cons: What are the drawbacks? more

Bouncers are the worst 3/1/2009

A friend of mine was having a birthday thing there. Unfortunately there was a line, but fortunately a couple of his other friends had already arrived and let me jump into line with them. I understand it's a pain to be a bouncer in the city. I've been here 10 years and for the most part I just take it in stride. The whole time the bouncers were hassling the people waiting, organizing us oddly into two parallel lines and telling us not to face each other so it was weird even talking when we were waiting. Not to mention that they didn't even put the people into the two lines in order and thus made some people wait longer than people who got there after them. more

Terrible Service -- They Overcharge you! 1/2/2009

Terrible place! The bartender charged me 18 bucks for two amstel lights (he said they only had 2 beers and no draught). Then I ordered another 2 amstel lights from another bartender and he charged me 12 dollars. When i closed my tab and left no tip for such ridiculousness, i was asked ""did you have a problem with the service."" when i told the other bartender what had happened, he just shrugged his shoulders and basically couldn't care less. I won't ever go back. Pros: Good looking women Cons: Terrible Service more

You're beautiful. Don't ever change!! 4/16/2008

So I recently moved to NYC and I'd been missing my old watering holes in San Francisco. Nothing around here seemed to make me feel at home. A good friend of mine asked me to come along on a Friday nite to what she called the biggest, baddest hole in the wall bar of all time, the No Malice Palace. While I'm not one to take another's opinion at face value, I was intrigued by the name. As soon as we walked in, I was completely taken by the atmosphere. The dim, red lights. The cozy living room feel. It was awesome!! Not to mention the great music. I'm not sure of the DJ's name (maybe I'll muster up the courage to approach him at some point) but he's as cute as he is talented! Hiphop, funk, reggae and even the occasional freestyle joint fill the air as the bartenders make you feel like you've been visiting them for years. Thank you No Malice! You'll be seeing me again and again! Pros: Cool staff, great drinks, awesome music. You can dance and there's no cover! more

This place IS the East Village!!! 4/11/2008

I just can't get enough of the NO Malice Palace. Every weekend I mean to go somewhere else but always find myself back here. Its my cheers of the East Village as far as the comfortable, welcoming, layed back, unpretentious vibe goes, but with super hot bartenders, and kickin hip hop. Drinks are good and strong, a real ba*g (wow! very strict rules about language on this web site) for your buck. Service is fast and friendly, (not to mention the staff seems to be having as much fun as the crowd, and did I mention they're real easy on the eyes). You're sure to have a great time here, and if you don't, just stay home the next time! Pros: great music, dancing, atmosphere, service, Cons: none come to mind more

No Malice forefills its hype 4/11/2008

last week i had one of the most enjoyable experiences, in my NY city bar career. I tend to go out to spots on a regular basis and at the no malice palace i found great blend of hip hop, and reggae, a bit of other stuff. It was pretty busy and when i looked at the bar i was a bit nervous. thinking it would take a long time to get a drink, but i was in and out in know time. i stayed practically the whole night. leaving cause my peeps were ready to go, im assuming exhaution from the dancing. Recommendations on this spot were true, and i had a great time. They'll definetely see me again. Pros: Fast service great music more

Awesome East Village Bar with huge crowds on the weekends 4/11/2008

The No Malice Palace has always been one of my favorite local spots in the East Village. Its comfortable, well-designed and staffed with friendly (and s*xy) bartenders. During the week it's the perfect spot to chill with friends either at the bar or on one of the sofas (one comes complete with a crackling, fake fire). There's also an outdoor patio for smokers who don't want to block the sidewalk. Pros: Ambience, location, friendly staff Cons: Not really more

I was disappointed 4/6/2008

After seeing all the good reviews on citysearch, I went there on a Saturday night with some friends. We got there around 2am, were expecting the place to be packed. However, it was probably 80% full and no one was dancing. The crowd was rather on the sketchy side. The music was good though and drinks were cheap. more

""Below Average"" sums it up. 10/19/2007

I've ended up at this place accidentally three times so far for parties. After the first, I wouldn't have gone again if I realized it was the same place. It seems constantly crowded and way too dark. Drinks are overpriced for their size, pour, and quality. I don't know what everyone here found so alluring about the atmosphere - the place is pitch black aside from some lounge seats, and any time the DJ found something danceable that didn't sound like it came off of ""Club Hits 2000"", it was too crowded to actually dance. Pros: I have to say, despite its other drawbacks, the service was friendly and fast Cons: Just about everything else. more

Funny, Chill, No Frills Atmosphere 6/28/2007

The music, mood and drinks are right. Bartenders are great with ocassional buybacks and there are comfy lounges to sink into. more

Great music with dancing, atmosphere, drink prices and staff! 6/11/2007

I can only say great things about No Malice Palace. I have had 3 parties there in the last year and every time I'm more and more impressed. The dancing is great with a live DJ all the time. There is an outdoor seating area where you can cool off and carry a conversation on with friends. The bar staff are pleasant to work with and they always are good looking. Pros: Great dancing, music, prices, staff Cons: none, love this gem! more

Well Done... 5/9/2007

LOVED this place. The staff was wonderful - no pretension at all - same with the crowd. Was a little b & t at the beginning of the night, but by midnight, they were gone. The music was EXCELLENT - Evan is an awesome dj... Pros: everything Cons: nothing more

one of my favorite bars in the city 2/27/2007

awesome bar: great staff, cheap & well-made drinks, SUPERB music. Pros: MUSIC, staff, drinks more

Forget ""ehhhh,"" this place is cool 8/11/2005

You know what? I've only been to this place 2 times, and both times were a bucketful of fun. I like this bar. I've lived in Alphabet City for 3 years but only discovered the aptly named No Malice Palace recently, and in addition to having a great name, the staff is nice, the people look good, and the atmosphere is a refreshing balance of hip and friendly. Pay the Palace a visit, I say. Pros: atmosphere, friendly staff, good crowd more

Ehhhh 7/24/2005

Went here on Saturday night. Not very impressed. It was sooo dark and loud and way too crowded, you need supersonic earplugs and night vision goggles just to get by. Was glad to leave. The only decent thing was the drink prices. $10 for two beers and a cranberry & soda. Pros: cheap drinks more

Who let all the kiddies in? 5/1/2005

Before it filled up on Saturday night, this place looked promising -- comfortable setting, nice lighting, lots of room, but then it filled up with obnoxious drunk 22 year olds in lip gloss and halter tops. Horrible DJ, ridiculously overpriced drinks -- $4 PBR?! -- and horrible atmosphere. If you're looking for a laid back bar to drink with your friends, go elsewhere, but if you're looking for a meat market, you'll love it. more
