I Have lived in Houston since 1981. Every time I return home to MI I make sure to bring my spouse, Dad, Aunts and Uncles and kids to Niki's in Royal Oak. I love it so much we come back multiple times a week while we are in the area! The prices are extremely reasonable as though stopped in time. This is NOT the "New" Royal Oak but like Hermann's Bakery the old Royal Oak from years ago.
The food is all prepared from scratch by the Greek owners. The menu is extremely varied from American to Greek, breakfast served all day, etc. My favorites: the Gyros plate and daily lunch specials, my Dad's favorite: the breakfast specials.
The pies vary daily and are exceptionally good. Prices are cheaper than equivalent Royal Oak, Ferndale, Berkeley, etc restaurants. This is NOT a chain restaurant instead a family owned true GEM of Royal Oak. If you want a down home, family style restaurant for breakfast and lunch that will meet the needs of cross generations this is it! This is a great place to bring picky eaters as owners will modify menu and have something for everyone to enjoy.
