We've been trying to reach Nick's Moving Company for over a week now. Nobody picks up the phone and the voice mailbox is full. We are trying to get delivery of our belongings that they have in storage.\r \r We actually went to their location in Somerville, and found that they'd moved out. The people there said that Nick's had been evicted in November (2016). If that's true, then why hasn't Nick's notified us of their new location or contact information? We are still paying for storage monthly! more

I recently used Nick's Moving Company for help unloading a truck. The two men who came were very helpful; they did the job and they did it well. However, they arrived from helping another client with a HUGE truck that they mistakenly thought they could easily park in Brighton. They spent about an hour driving around trying to find somewhere to park the truck, and then I was OVERCHARGED $60 for the time they spent parking a truck that wasn't even used for my move!!! \r \r I called Nick's Moving Company, who was very apologetic about this mistake, and was told that I would be refunded this charge ""by the end of the week"" over three weeks ago. I have since called five times and have been told they're ""going to refund"" me and will ""forward my complaint to the manager"" who will get back to me ""at his own discretion"". Most recently, I was HUNG UP ON by another fraudulent idiot at this ""company"" trying to brush my complaint under the rug and steal my $60. I am days away from taking this to small claims court.\r \r I chose this company because of the great reviews of movers, which I agree with 100%. However, I think everyone needs to check their bank statements to make sure they're not being overcharged by this FRAUDULENT joke of a ""business"".\r \r Easily I can say I will NEVER use this service again, will NEVER recommend them to anyone, and will leave my NEGATIVE review about them anywhere possible. more

Save Yourself the Trouble & Use a Different Moving Co. 1/21/2012

DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY! I used them to move in 2009 and at first I was pretty happy with them-- they showed up late but the move got done pretty fast and they assembled my bed. The final bill was more than what I was quoted but I paid it just glad to have the move behind me. As I unpacked I soon realized that a bag of clothes and part of a shelf were missing.... easily totaling over $600! I quickly called the company who assured me they would check their trucks and were sure the items would turn up. Over 2 months later, nothing showed up and the managers were unresponsive to my phone calls. When I got a lawyer involved and sent them a certified letter, I finally received a call back. After being extremely frustrated, we agreed on an amount (much less than what was lost) but at this point I just wanted to put the whole situation behind me. FAST FORWARD 2 YEARS LATER and I STILL HAVE NOT been paid what was promised for my lost items!! I have faithfully been following up, only to receive rude and curt responses from management that they ""don't have the money."" So unless you want to lose hundreds of dollars, be ignored, and be jerked around for 2 years over a few hundred dollars... DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY! more

Hire Nicks! 4/26/2011

I can't say enough about Nick's moving! I've moved 7 out of the last 9 years. For the past 4 moves I've hired companies - started with Gentle Giant - who were good but very expensive, then Precision Moving for two moves who did a good job and were less expensive but took a little longer than i'd expect, and this last weekend I used Nick's. This was the biggest move - a full condo on the third floor, moving into a house with two sets of stairs, with the most breakable items I've had thus far, and the longest distance I've had to move things. 5 guys, 3 hours, and not a single item broken! They were professional, hustled, took great care with our items, and moved the most things in the least amount of time. It cost me the same amount that it cost to move a quarter of the things I moved with Gentle Giant. more

Excellent & Professional Moving Company 7/9/2010

I have used Nick's numerous times moving from different residences (i.e., condo (with and without elevator) & home) and they have done an excellent job each time. I would highly recommend them for any type of move. Most recently, they assisted with moving large furniture within our home and were great and eager to place the furniture perfectly. When you're moving, you want to deal with movers who exude confidence without being abrupt or condescending. The scheduling staff and the moving staff from Nick's were personable and candid. The moving staff were polite, apologized for being late at the start, promised to make it up at the drop-off end. And they did. I've moved about 30 times (yes, I'm old) and Nick's movers are just about the best I have had. Pros: Personable, professional, organized.. Cons: Started 30 min. late, but made it up later. more

My experience with Nick's was great! I selected Nick's because my brother used them and had a great move. I believed my brother more than I believed the recent web reviews. Pros: Fast, Fast, Fast Cons: None that I know of more

Worst Company Ever - Just ask the Better Business Bureau 11/17/2009

Do not use this company under any circumstances. They did my move in late August. Lets see, first they drove over my neighbors yard and proceeded to get in a verbal argument with said neighbors. Then they backed into the other neighbors car. Then they managed to scratch at least 5 pieces of furniture and tear open both arms of my brand new couch. After at least 7 phone calls with the manager Dave, he explained that they don't actually have any insurance and can't even cover the damage they caused. I filed a report with the Better Business Bureau which was unable to solicit a response from them after 2 attempts. Upon further research, i found at least 8 similiar unanswered complaints on the BBB site. Do yourself a favor and stay away! Cons: Damaged all my furniture, Don't Carry Insurance more

After being quoted a price over the phone by Ben and leaving a deposit I immediately began noticing red flags with these crooks. First, my non refundable deposit was not run once, but twice, and when I called their office to inform them of this I was treated as though I had made some sort of mistake, zero marks for people skills. I then assured them of their error ( i am a CPA ) and when I asked to be refunded I was met with a haggling of sorts, i.e, ""well, we're gonna be there in a few days anyway, why don't we just credit it towards your final bill."" sort of line. Again, very unfriendly, uneducated sounding office person with some airy welshman with an accent acting as the manager. I was stressed out as was and just didn't have the energy to argue. During this period NICKS was supposed to drop me some supplies so that I could prep my house for the move, I asked for Pads, wrapping paper, some bubble wrap, tape and various boxes. All of which I was encouraged to get from them by them, and all of which I was assured would arrive at the latest, 5 days before my move, all of which turned out to be LIES. Nothing showed up, I called, I called I called and was met with hostility from two of the office people and some very lame excuses from the rummy welsh manager, ( I know we are in a recession, but that doesn't explain why my moving supplies aren't in my home 2 days before my move.) needless to say, they never arrived. So, the day of my move, My four movers was reduced to 2 movers, (some how my rate only went down 30 bucks though) one spoke no english and clearly had no prior knowledge of moving, he broke almost everything he touched, the other, I am fairly certain was using coke in my bathroom and threw up several times during my move, so, after all my things get trashed, lost and most certainly pillaged, i get my bill. i wasn't surprised to see i wasn't credited for my double deposit, and was actually billed for the supplies i never got. AMAZING! I contested the bill, was met with more hostility by my druggie mover, ( was also strong armed for a tip and told to ""go to an ATM I have no doubt my mover was using druugs"") and spent 2 hours waiting to speak with someone who could ""adjust"" my balance. In the end, what was supposed to be a 5 hour venture from start to finished turned into a 5 day odyssey complete with liars junkies, and a thieef. Most of my items were damaged, some lost or stolen, and my original 700 dollar move ended up costing me an estimated 2500 plus, ( that includes damages, and time spent haggeling with these crooks. Dave, Eric, Ben, Richie and Henrey you ought to be asshamed. Pros: They didn't set anything on fire.. Cons: Where to begin..... more

This company rocks! 8/19/2009

Henry and Pedro were OUTSTANDING. It was a hot day in August and they had many many stairs to climb, but they did it! They arrived EARLY (how often does THAT happen?!?) and were 100% courteous and communicative not only with me but with each other. They wrapped everything up efficiently and handled it all with extreme care, and even offered tips about unpacking, maintenance, and future furniture purchases! I couldn't recommend them enough. Excellent Job 7/28/2009

Rich, Jeff and Ross moved a lot of furniture to three separate locations and none of them had easy staircases to navigate. Everything went quick, smooth and all of our furniture and boxes arrived in the same condition as when we left. Pros: Fast, polite and worked hard more

I just moved from Central sq. in Cambridge to Davis Sq. in Somerville. Nick's sent me two great movers, Bob and Jeff they cleared out my one bedroom apartment in less than an hour from the second floor! In the end these guys were polite, careful, and cheaper than they estimated over the phone. I have heard some horror stories about friends moving experiences, but now I will just tell them to use Nick's and they will have no worries! Pros: Fast, careful, affordable more

We have used these guys twice now and have had a good experience both times. I got a quote from gentle giant and Nicks were way cheaper. James and Jon made my move look so easy even though we moved to a third floor. Nothing was too much trouble for them. I would recommend them to anybody. Pros: respectful, polite and so quick ! more

Best movers I ever had ! 4/2/2009

Thank you so much to Richie, Jon and Jeff ! I called them last minute as I realized i could not move my stuff on my own. Their office took my info and these guys were at my doorstep two hours later. It was freezing that day but these guys just laughed it off and continued to climb up and down my third-floor staircase as if it were fun to them. They put everything together for me at the new place, and the whole thing was done in three hours. I couldn't tip them much so I thought id mention them by name. It was a great experience. I urge folks who are moving to ask for these guys ! Pros: Friendly, easy going and on time more
