i am currently learning to kiteboard while down here in la vetana, baja mexico. before starting this endeavor i thought i would be a quick study due to my athletic ability and experience with both board sports (snowboarding & wakeboarding) and experience flying big trainer and foil kites on land and snow. well... i was in for a rude awakening. kiteboarding is definitely one of the harder sports i have tried to master on my own. \r

after a few days of struggling here in the bay i decided to seek professional guidance from jim and his crew. i went out on multiple days with both owen and jim and i have to say i am so so so impressed with their teaching abilities. owen is a ripper and totally got me fired up put all my skills together and ride. his passion for kiting definitely makes you want to be a life long rider. :) \r

after i started mastering the basic riding and kite flying skills jim took me out and i was completely impressed at how fast he can pinpoint trouble areas in your technique. before i had finished 2 laps down the bay he had tearing up rides on both my left and right sides. they use 2-way radios so even when you are out on the water alone they can feed you helpful input right into your ear... and still pick you up at the bottom on a quad... saving you from the newbie walk of shame back up the beach.\r

i definitely plan to continue my lessons while i am here with new wind. they have very competitive pricing and you can't beat their experience both teaching and riding. i feel super safe being with this crew on the water… jim has not only been an instructor for something like 2 decades… but he also was an instructor for IKO, which means he taught the teachers how to teach. and you can definitely tell in his concern for both safety as well as making sure you end the day with a big smile on your face! muchas gracias new wind. :)
