I love this place, especially in the summer when you can sit outdoors underneath their real grape vines. If...

I've been going to The Neighborhood for several years. If this review had been written 3 years ago, they would easily receive 4, if not 5, stars. Sadly, the once always reliable h...

I hate this neighborhood restaurant. 9/26/2009

Whats up with all the good reviews? This place sucks. My friend invited me here. She told me about their great oatmeal. She was like you are going to fall in love with it. When we got here I finally could not wait to taste it. It was the worst oatmeal ever. It was not sweet at all. I could not believe it actually tasted salty. Who does that, put salt in oatmeal? Salty oatmeal gross!!!My mother makes the best oatmeal. This place needs to close. If they can't make a simple and tasty oatmeal they need to go. Truereview here to tell you the truth. more

best bang for your breakfast buck 3/22/2006

The Neighborhood is probably the best value in town for breakfast - but like all places, you usually have to wait a bit in line. The wait is worth it. With all breakfasts you get a yummy bread plate for the table, full of wonderful muffins, breads and rolls. Plus they serve you great warm cereal, that is a secret recipe! (I'd kill for it!) Then whatever you order from the menu is fresh and delicious. The egg, bacon and toast combo is my favorite. In the warm weather you are seated outside under a grape vine arbor, and in the winter months you sit in a small and crowded dining room - but the food is so good it won't both you a bit! more

Giant Breakfests under a grape arbor 9/6/2005

I have eaten here dozens of times, and whenever I have out of town guests I take them here for a "special" breakfest.. The breakfasts are excellent. I recommend Waffles mounded with fruits, and Omelets made with spicy linguica. The meal starts with malted cereal and a plate of breads. When they have them, the popovers are the best choice. The food is too much for one person so I usually split a meal. They charge an extra $3, but even with 2 people I have never finished all the food. The coffee is not so good. I usually bring a cup from my house. It is usually burned or nasty tasting. Depending on the time of morning the waits can get long as hung over people amble over to union square in search of something greasy. more

This place really is "The Neighborhood"! 8/15/2005

If you are looking for a place to eat where you can meet a real crossection of the Union Square neighborhood, this is certainly the place to go! The best time to go is brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. Try to get there somewhat early (before 10:00 am should be fine)... be prepared to wait for a table. It is a wonderful place to "people watch". The portion sizes are large and the price is usually very reasonable... the food is great too! We usually can get out for $8 or less per person. This is really the place that reminds me of a nice summer morning in Union Square... lots of good food and fun memories! Enjoy! more
