When it comes to sushi you need to be sceptical and careful. This place is pristine clean and serves very fresh cuts. The Chillean Seabass is the best I've had in quite a while. Fellas feel confident showing off here. The ambiance is quiet and classy and their sushi platters are sure to please. We'll come back again more

The Worst Food!! 4/9/2010

I live in the neighborhood and always pass by this place. My husband and I decided to try it out. The food was horrible!! We started out with the hamachi w/ balsamic dressing. The hamachi was warm and not a good combination with salad dressing. We sent this dish back . We also ordered the Lobster ravioli, which was cold and no flavor. The chicken and shrimp dumplings were very oily and tastless. I this point we lost out appetites completely. There are many other better sushi places in the neigbohood. This place is more for tourists than actual New Yorkers who know great food. more

Seared Salmon was Simply Amazing! 2/21/2010

We were in town for our annual conference when the craving for sushi hit. Hard. Yelp to the rescue! Since we were seeing God of Carnage, we wanted something within walking distance. Enter Natsumi! Solid reviews, let's set it up. \r \r We ordered miso soup (tofu, seaweed, scallion) to start and then decided to split several rolls. As the beau is not a huge sushi fan, we kept it pretty simple: seared salmon and seared tuna sashimi, Philadelphia roll, spicy rock shrimp avocado roll and shrimp tempura roll. \r \r The soup arrived within minutes of ordering and was delicious. The sashimi and rolls took a little longer to arrive but the presentation was gorgeous and everything tasted wonderful. The star of the plate was the seared salmon, it was so melt-in-your-mouth buttery I'm surprised it didn't just dissolve into a happy little puddle of goo on the plate. Phenomenal. \r \r Extra star because it's in a great location for a little sushi bite before or after catching a show! more

I have been to Natsumi several times and I?ve never been disappointed. They have excellent sushi/food, service, and atmosphere. OMG! The seafood toban yaki is to die for and the sake and drinks are all wonderful! love this place 6/12/2008

At Natsumi my entire dining experience was superb!! The fusion style cusine was truly unique in chioce as well as delectable in taste. The sushi here tastes and is presented like none other The entire staff was extremely pleasant and seemed more than happy to help me in making a selection and make sure that everything was up to my liking. The restaurant 's mordern interior is exquisite and features a bar on one side of the building and a dinning area on another. I will most definitely dine at Natusmi again very soon and highly recommend it to others more

Great food, atmosphere and company. 5/13/2008

I have eaten here many times and even brought friends and business associates here as well. The menu has traditional sushi offerings as well as updated rolls created by the head chef. The menu also offers hot dishs which range from traditional to fusion-ish. I think the sea bass dish is the best, both in terms of taste and proper cooking of the fish (never over cooked!), that I have ever eaten in midtown. If you want sushi, I recommend the chef's sellection. It cost a few bucks more than the standard sushi plate, but it is worth it, IMHO. \r The staff members are very pleasant and aim to please (as all waiters/waitresses and bartenders should be!), and provide a pleasant and fun environment to relax over some drinks. The bar has a good selection of up-scale brands and also has a good sake selection (though not really my thing). Also, it is not unheard of for the members of the cast of some of the near by plays to drop in after the last show for some drinks, and from time to time a rapper and his crew have been known to wander in too. Pros: good food at midtown $ and friendly service Cons: No shochu at the bar! more

Cozy Bar and Best Sushi 4/10/2008

Best Japanese Food!!! 3/24/2008

I have been in several Japanese restaurants and this one is really nice the athmosphere is really cool, we were there after Valentines with all of our friends, eventhough we didn't make reservations (meaning that you must make it) they figured out how to sit us down and we had an awsome time.\r The service was really good well explained all that was in the menu and also I will recomend the Dumplings and the Spring Rolls they are really good.\r It can also be romantic.\r Pros: none more

Great food, atmosphere, and service!!! 3/24/2008

At last, a place to enjoy sushi and other Japanese delights at their best in the heart of the Theater District. The food is fresh every time and the service always friendly and pleasant. (believe me, I come here often! ) This is the perfect spot pre-theater or to start a night on the town. The bar/lounge is pretty lively and fun spot for after work drinks. They serve delicious drink creation along with an extensive Saki list. \r \r Recommendation- Try the King crab dumplings and the Gold leaf roll Pros: Great food, atmosphere, and service more

My first sushi bar experence 3/21/2008

It was my first time at a sushi bar and what better place then Natsumi, (which I never heard of until now) The food was great: first I ate at the restaurant I didn't know what I wanted so I asked the server what would she recommend, she said I should try something called Rock shrimp tempera. And man was she right, it was delicious, the service was great, our server was very nice I never had to call her, she would just check on us and make sure me and my friends were happy. Then I had a mixed grilled which not only looked amazing but taste amazing as well, it was grilled shrimp and chicken and sauce I don?t know what kind of sauce. But it was incredible!! I?m actually getting hungry writing this review. Pros: Great food, Great Service. more

excellent atmosphere!!! 3/18/2008

I went to Natsumi with some friends the other day and had a blast! We had dinner in the restaurant part and then went to the lounge on the other side of the hotel its in and had drinks. Dinner was great. Sushi was really fresh and I tried the mixed grill my friend ordered and it was amazing. The lounge was my favorite part though. I had the best mojito in NYC and one of my friends had the ginger cosmo. Mmmm. We were planning to go to Lotus but ended up staying till close. Great service (our bartender Laura was awesome!) great food and great fun! Take your friends, family, co-workers, or go alone. This place rocks! Pros: Great fun, great food! Cons: none... more

Best Italian-Japanese fusion food EVER! 3/18/2008

This AMAZING restaurant, Natsumi, is a "" you HAVE to go"" place! I love the service and food there! And the scenery is so beautiful! The workers there (the chefs, waiters/waitresses, hosts/hostesses, etc) are just so full of life! They are very hard-working, and yet they have time to have a little chat and joke for their customers. And the food is sooo delicious and very attractive artwork! Pros: service, management, food, etc. more

Awesomeness~ 3/18/2008

I love Natsumi! The beautiful settings, wonderful service, artistic foods, and exotic drinks! During the night, everything is lit up like the city of New York! Plus the huge windows allows you to see the beautiful lights on the streets. Natsumi gave me, my friends, and family a warm, welcoming feeling as we entered! It's a MUST GO!!! I highly recommended this unique restaurant to ANYONE! Pros: Thumbs WWWWAAAAYYYYYYY up! the service, the food, everything! more

Amazing Sushi and great Mojitos!! 3/18/2008

I loved the decor in the lounge and the waterfall with tv cool. The bartenders were fun and friendly and sold us on some house specialty sushi that was incredible. The Natsumi roll was delicious. I wasn't sure what to think about Italian influences (as they put it) in sushi. I was pleasantly surprised how the basil, apple and sauces complimented the sushi. Last but not least......go for the Mojitos...especially the green tea mojito!! Pros: Attentive staff, great food, great drinks. What more can I say. more

Natsumi breaks new ground with their innovative modern Japanese cuisine. Barbara Matsamura and Chef Haru Konagaya team up here to create a strikingly new destination?two separate experiences in two adjacent sites: an elegant restaurant and a trendy Tokyo-chic bar/lounge. The word Natsumi, defined as "the reflection of the beauty of summer," is certainly evoked in this tranquil and colorful setting. In fact, the whole room is infused with a warm golden glow and earth tones. To set the mood, you'll certainly want to start with one of the distinctive and refreshing drinks or great selection of wines. Fortunately, the wine list is international, with white, red, sparkling wines, and champagne by the glass and bottle. Because Natsumi specializes in modern Japanese cuisine with a touch of Italian ingredients, you'll find a striking array of creative dishes such as sashimi arugula salad, new style yellowtail carpaccio, and a truly innovative lobster green tea ravioli. The creative menu relies on unique preparations with dynamic flavors. The restaurant is divided into distinct dining areas, a cozy space with intimate booths, a sushi bar where diners can watch the chefs compose, and in the front, the windows open to the street. Natsumi is a continuation of owner Matsumura's successful career as a restaurateur, which has seen her open fifteen thriving restaurants in the tri-state area, including Ms. Matsumura and Chef Haru's expansive chain of Japanese restaurants and sushi bars, aptly titled Haru. While he may lend his name to other ventures, Natsumi consumes the large portion of Haru's personal attention, where he adds unparalleled flair and zeal to the creation of the city's most delectable dishes.
