TERRIBLE SERVICE, TERRIBLE ATTITUDE 8/24/2009

I had the unfortunate pleasure of being asked to step outside and wait for food that had been purchased because a disgruntled patron decided to walk up to me and a friend and tell us that the seats we were sitting in were for people who were eating, he would have had a valid point if there werent several additional seats for him to sit in and if we werent waiting for our food! \r \r When we told him he was incredibly rude, he proceeded to be nasty with us, while the entire wait and cooking staff in the go portion of the restauraunt watched. \r \r Thier solution was then to ask us to just wait outside because the altercation was disturbing others...\r \r I will never go back to this restauraunt because I never want to run into the nasty man again for the fear that I might whip his ANGLE SIDE SIDE on sight, and the management team handled the situation poorly, because if they would have intervened when he approached us, we would have never had to address him directly. more

Coincidences of Life? 1/10/2008

I have never eaten at Naples 45, but I found it surprisingly funny that two different users writting a review could thing exactly the same. If you look at llauren234's text (""Authentic Neapolitan Pizza"") and sps424's (""Best Pizza in New York"") is really amazing to see how 2 different individuals could think the same way and express it with exactly the sames words (albeit the Title) about the restaurant. Funny coincidence. Or maybe some management insider trying to boost this place reputation for a lack of a better thing to do.... or a lack of customers... maybe. Just a thought. BTW, these users had the same recomendations about other places reviewed here in Citisearch. more

Best Pizza in New York! 10/25/2007

Naples 45 is definitely the best pizza in New York! My office is in the Met Life building, and I go there all the time for the authentic pizza. Its not your typical, greasy NY slice. The cheese is the freshest youll find and the crust is flawlessly cooked. They make rectangular pizzas exactly like the pizziolis do in Naples, Italy, and have received a seal of approval for authenticity. If youre not a pizza fan, the salads are full of tasty ingredients, and my boyfriends a huge fan of the pasta dishes. They also have a shop full of gourmet delights, and they deliver!\r \r Pros: Great atmoshphere, friendly staff, outdoor patio more

Terrible 9/21/2007

I had the misfortune of chosing this restaurant for a business lunch. Service was mediocre as was the food. The major problem was that they ended up charging my credit card A FEW TIMES OVER with various incorrect charges.\r In trying to correct the situation, I had to make countless phone calls, leave unanswered messages and faxes to the corporate office. Situation has still yet to be corrected\r \r AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!! more

Nightmare 2/1/2007

Okay. I live in NY so I know all about snooty waitstaff etc. But I must relate an experience my wife and I had at this place. It was beyond belief. We were having drinks and a series of apps and pizza at their really nice long bar. The appetizers arrive -- no silverware. There was no other silverware available anywhere at the bar area [WHAT FOLLOWS IS NOT IN ANY WAY EXAGGERATED] The bartender is either too busy or too unconcerned to pay attention to our hails. Five minutes go by. Ten minutes go by. I get up and approach a table in the completely empty side dining area. As I'm about to pick up two sets of silverware I'm angrily confronted by a young waitress who demands to know what I ""think I'm doing?"" After I explain the situation, she demands that I ""do not remove the tables forks & knives"" -- that she will bring us over two sets. OK, I say and return to the bar. After another ten minutes, the bar tender asks ""why don't you guys have any silverware?"" and finally brings us some. The waitress with a tude never appears. I did not leave a tip (only the 2nd time I've ever not tipped). On the way out, I complained to the unconcerned manager who told me it was unfair of me not to tip. Pros: decent pizza Cons: staff who shouldn't even work at McDonalds more

Great Pizza 11/15/2006

We came here for dinner, without a reservation. The restaurant is so large that it seems there will generally be some room. The decor is reminiscent of an upscale diner. The service is a little spotty, albeit our server was very nice. They did not offer us parmesan cheese, and at one point we saw a hostess push menus around on the floor with her shoes, and only then pick them up. Undoubtedly these menus will wind up on someone's table later on. Aside from that incident, the place was clean. The food was the highlight of the dining experience here. The pizza is among the best I've ever had, if not the best. The only real complaints we had were that the anchovies were too salty. The seared shrimp appetizer was also delicious, as was the tiramisu. The cheesecake was also quite pleasant. Overall, this place may not be fine dining at its best, but I will return for the pizza. Pros: Food Cons: Some service issues more

Best pizza in NY! 10/17/2006

This authentic Naples pizza is amazing! You can taste how fresh and cared for each of the ingredients are. They even ship special water from out of state! The pizzas are hand-made by pizzaiole, baked in one of three wood-burning pizza ovens. The cheese, basil and sauce blend perfectly. If you're not into pizza, there are over 10 Piccoli Piatti for sharing and my boyfriend loves the pasta options. Main courses consist of a variety fish, chicken, meats and other seafood. This really is a can't miss! I love going here after work. It's convenient and a total escape from my hectic day with it's relaxing, open atmosphere. In the summer they also have a great patio. And don't miss the gift shop! Pros: Great pizza! Fresh Ingredients! more

Nice Casual Dining 9/28/2006

Enjoyed several small plates and a pizza. Service was attentive but not overbearing. We sat outside it was beautiful evening, yes the view leaves a lot to be desired but it was better than being cooped up inside. Pros: pizzas, service Cons: inside could be noisy more

Decent service, decent food, disappointing porch 8/11/2006

We visited Naples 45 last night, as it was beautiful out and we read there was a porch there. Only thing is that the porch is out front and really just looks at a bunch of post office trucks that are parked there and another building. While the food was decent and the service was good, I wouldn't recommend it if you are looking for outdoor seating with any kind of ambience. I'd probably only visit again for a quick midtown lunch indoors. Pros: service, speciality pasta dishes Cons: disappointing for outdoor seating - more sidewalk-y than not more

Great Neapolitan pizza 5/10/2006

We had a wonderful meal at Naples 45 a month ago on a visit to NYC. Our son loves pizza and we have a certified Neapolitan pizzaria in our home city (Seattle), we liked this nearly as much - and the differences were more about personal preference than any reflection on either restaurant. Quality ingredients & preparation all around, and a very fair price for NYC. Would definitely go back again. Pros: Food quality, Good value, Nice atmosphere Cons: Can be crowded, Average service more

Imported Flour ... Excellent Pizza 2/27/2006

The pizza here is delicious. The combination of fresh tomato sauce, fresh mozz cheese, basil and the dough they make with imported flour, makes this is one of the better pizza's in NY. They have some great entrees here as well. Service is great, takeout is good too. Would recommend - perfect for those looking for a place close to grand central. Pros: PIZZA, PIZZA more

Best Pizza outside of Italy 2/26/2006

I've been to Naples 45 for dinner twice. I've had pizza both times and the caprese salad appetizer. Both are delicious, the cooks are friendly and are willing to take a moment and speak to you and shake your hand. The service is a bit slow, but harkens back to my years growing up in Napoli, Italy where things are not rushed and when you sit down for dinner the table is yours all night. Pros: Pizza, Pizza, Pizza more

Best Neopolitan Pizza outside Naples 2/17/2006

I just got back from eating at some of Naples' most famous pizzerias, and I gotta say, that this pizza is the closest I'll ever come to eating it in New York. The crust is pillow soft, a touch of salt, just perfectly charred on the bottom and edges, not too much cheese, vibrant tomato flavor....i want one now!!! I've been there with parties of 10, and parties of 2, and each time the service has been fantastic. more
