If you’ve got the time and are craving a definitive day spa experience, don’t drive to Birmingham.Tuscaloosa has its very own day spa, and it’s huge.Nancy Taylor's spahas been in the day-spa business in Tuscaloosa for seven years. and They just moved into a 5,000-square-foot building last year so that they could offer nearly every luxurious spa treatment under the sun. But you won’t find a hair salon there. the spa boasts separate areas for men and women, three spacious massage rooms, three facial rooms, a steam room and separate showers.
Clients are given the white-robe treatment as soon as they walk in the door. After being spirited off to a quiet seating area, one for men and one for women, guests can enjoy comfy chairs and tea as they wait for their session with either Taylor or one of the other two estheticians on staff.
An hour-long European facial, or deep pore-cleansing facial, will include extractions as well as a therapeutic massage of the head, face, ears, shoulders, arms and hands.
The facial starts with Taylor taking a peek at your skin under a lighted magnifying glass and asking a few questions to determine the condition of the skin and what products should be used.
An unscented cleanser is smoothed on to remove any surface dirt and oil. Taylor then uses an exfoliating scrub with man-made beads, designed to slough off dead skin cells without tearing the skin.
