This is the best pedicure in NY. I tried so many places before finding Nails on 54th St.. It was worth the wait. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 2/23/2013

This place is pretty awesome. Not only do they stock Chanel polish, but they have dishes of candy in the area where you dry your fingers and toes. Love it. \r more

The trick to getting into this place is calling ahead. While different than most salons, the wait is worth it. They spend more time on their clients making it more relaxing. Additionally, even with regular nail polish, my mani/pedis always last a good 2-3 weeks. Cant find any place better than here!\r more

Editorial review from Citysearch 2/23/2013

I have been going here for over 6 years and I have yet to have an service that is below OUTSTANDING.\r \r I could go on and on about how the music if the perfect volume and the decor flows so nicely and the chairs are so comfy and everything is so clean and the bathroom is beautiful, and the service is always perfect, waxing and nails, and they take such amazing care of you, and how they provide an awesome brunch setting on Saturdays...but I wont. I will just say again...\r more

Oh my goodness - this place is heavenly. I'm a firm believe that details can truly make or break an experience. And Nails on 54th St. has all the right details. Here's how my first mani/pedi at Nails on 54th St. went: first, I get to choose from a great (current) selection of magazines. Then I was treated to complimentary water and snacks. I settled down in a comfy recliner where I remained for the entirety of my visit (you're literally waited on hand and foot). Then they soaked my footsies in warm water mixed with flowers/herbs. Lastly, the warm lotion massage is so relaxing I could have fallen asleep. My nails came out fabulous and I left feeling calm & pampered as a princess. I will definitely be going back to Nails on 54th St.!\r more

Costly manicure! Overcharged and stuck with the bill! 6/21/2011

BEWARE! Get a receipt for your service and hold on to it. Better yet, go somewhere else. I went in for a $10 manicure special at lunchtime. I paid for the manicure with my credit card and left the tip in cash. My credit card was charged $43.12 two weeks later. I called several times and the manager wasn't helpful, he said to take it up with my bank. Since I did not have a receipt, my bank did not credit me the overcharge. For $43.12, I received a mediocre manicure and a lesson learned. Definitely not a special. I will warn all my friends in midtown not to go here.\r \r more

That was the worse experience I ever had!! From the moment we walked in - they did not honor their advertised prices - the place was nasty - and there was no effort to make my 10 year old daughter, her friend or myself feel comfortable. It was raining outside and I was not familiar with the neighborhood and didn't know of another salon or we would have left immediately. They pushed us to get treatments we didn't want, they rushed through our mani and pedi. After it was finished three women came up to me and confronted me about giving a bigger tip!!!! I would give this place ZERO STARS, and am certain that the owner is the only one writing in a four or five star review. An absolute waste of time and money and I'm mad at myself for not turning around and dealing with the cold wet weather outside that night!!!!!!!!! Follow the voice in your head and stay away from this TRAP!!!! They should change their website to read THE PIT!!!!! more

nice woork 1/27/2011

I am a regular customer of Nails on 54th. the nail Specialist is Anna. Shes always very tentative to my needs and the services that I choose. I am so so very surprise at the negative reviews that I have read, as I have been as customer for at least 5+ years. And believe me Service is very important to me. I have had Massages, Manicure and Pedicures, Eyebrow waxing and have never encountered any problems. If Anna is not available my services are provided by Gina she too is great. Keep up the Good work Anna and Gina if you read this review. I love you guys more

Great Nail Place 1/14/2011

I have been going to 54th Nail for over 13 years. Steve and his crew are awesome. Their work is perfect, the salon is clean and they are super friendly. And even better SOO reasonably priced for NYC. Rivka is my technician and is she is great. I always feel like a lady and pampered after I leave her. She also does great waxing and eyebrows. \r \r They offer a variety of options but you can add them or not as you want. more

STAY AWAY!!!! 11/4/2010

if it were possible to give no stars, that's what I would give. I got a flyer on the street, the price advertised seemed reasonable, so I decided to give it a try. The girl that was to do my nails did not greet me properly nor did she introduce herself. I found out her name (Alla) while she was having a loud conversation with another coworker in Russian. moving on....All I wanted was a mani/pedi, but she kept pushing every service possible (do I want a spa one? I need my eyebrows waxed. etc, etc). She was concentrated on pushing expensive packages or adding services rather than doing what I came to get done!!! After declining everything she was throwing at me, I gave in and said ok to a wax. That was a BIG mistake. She probably forgot to use deodorant, but I was suffocating while she waxed me. I'm only happy that took 3 minutes, because I was already ready to walk out. Of course I ended up paying more than I was planing on, and on the crappy service. Bottom line: stay away, they push services like crazy, and don't do a good job anyway. not to mention the B.O. P.S. all those 5 star reviews are probably by the owners/managers themselves, in which case this violates the citysearch terms of service. more

False advertising!!! \r So, they have a giant sandwich board on the corner that says $24 mani/pedi. My friends and I went on a Friday when our usual place was too busy. First of all, she spent a total of 5 minutes on my pedicure, and only put one coat of polish. When we got our bills, they charged us $30. They all acted like they didn't know what we were talking about, and another girl in the salon told me they had just raised their prices this week. I went to the (greasy and surly) manager, who pointed to a TINY handwritten sign by the cash register, that the special was only Mon-Wed. Despite the fact that the sandwich board was outside at that very moment. He was extremely rude and didn't seem to care when I told him we would be going across the street to the place on 55th from now on, so I suggest everyone do so. This place is NOT worth $30, or even $24 for that matter. And the fact that it is incorporated as ""Steve and his Ladies"" is really creepy. Pros: absolutely nothing Cons: overpriced, shoddy work, RUDE manager more

Manicures from Heaven 5/29/2010

It looked great! Definitely the best manicure I've ever had. A week later my nails have begun to chip a bit but I've never had a paint job last so long. I will most certainly return. (make sure not to get mixed up by a nail salon that goes by Nails on 54th which is on 2nd Avenue) more

mani/pedi 4/15/2010

It's great spot for a mani and pedi. After reading the mixed reviews and decided to give it a try anyway because it is close to my office. Everyone was friendly enough when I walked in. The prices are reasonable and they do a good job. plus, they don't make you wait too long and it's clean. I had a woman named Tanya, she was what i needed. i was very happy i went there it was worth it. more

This is for the location off 2nd ave. Service was DISGUSTINGLY incompetent and rude. The prices and services were completely off from what the website informed, fine. I had to tell my attendent to pay attention to my nails repeatedly (she kept looking sideways at everyone else)--I specifically used a pale color on my finger nails after my pedicure because I knew right away it was a jacked job. I BARELY FELT the pedicure (which lasted all of 5 minutes) She didn't bother with cuticles or a massage. At home later I saw my toenails were JAGGED, worse than I thought. The worst part is that my boyfriend spent money on a gift certificate...I had a GIFT CERTIFICATE and yet I STILL wanted to walk out on their rudeness and incompetence. It was supposed to be my relax day. Oh yeah, and while I was drying my nails, one of the attendants actually took my bag off the chair and SHOVED IT STRAIGHT AT MY FACE so that I put my hands up to grab it and she continued to push it against my still drying nails! I have money left on this gift card AND I AM NOT GOING BACK. DO NOT GO HERE. more

Sloppy, pushy, dirty 8/26/2009

Having just returned from a pedicure, I am very disappointed. The woman, who loudly yammered in Russian, kept trying to push, push push more expensive spa packages and additional services at me. By the time I got out of there, I think she had asked over 8 times! I understand the need from a salesmanship perspective, but I felt like I was at a used car lot! She did not understand the meaning of the word ""NO"". All the polishes were old, dried up, and gooey. I allowed it to dry 2 times in the machine, but sitting at home an hour later, they are still really wet and all the wet, heavy polish slipped into the sides of my toes- I had to fix it myself! The types of cheap products they used made my skin irritated. Also, I did not see them wash out the sink with bleach after the pedicure of the woman who was finishing up to my left, and the scrubbing brushes look old. I'm tempted to swallow some antibiotics now.... Lastly, she had no idea how to cut cuticles, and she cut too deep and caused a cut. When I asked her to stop- she insisted on doing it anyway and shooed me off! I had to ask her stop again! Also, I had picked a nice pink color for myself and she sneered at it and asked, ""you don't want red?"" It was insulting and i felt incredibly uncomfortable. Not going back again, all the other like-minded reviewers are right! Cons: sloppy, pushy, dirty more

If you want to have a nice mani/pedi - ask for Blanca 6/30/2009

If you want to have a nice manicure or pedicure - ask for Blanca. Her talent is priceless. Seriously! Once I came to the salon on 54th (btw Lex and Park) and I asked Steve, the owner, for the best nail-master he has. I was pleased with Blanca's work. Nothing to pick on! She did exactly how I asked: square-with-round-angled nails, buffed cuticles and accurately lacquered with a just picked color. Quietly and quickly she made my hands look like just those from posters. I will wait for her, I will come back the next day - but I won't trade her for anyone else. Would you? Pros: Her talent is priceless. Seriously! more

Pain Free Wax 6/20/2009

Riva is really great. When she does wax, it;s pain free. I literally ran away from a salon with the wax still on me because they didn't know what they were doing. I came to Riva and she waxed my legs, bikini, and hands in less than 30 minutes. I have been coming to her ever since, she really know what she is doing. She is a true professional. Pros: Riva more

TANIA is the best!!!! 12/19/2008

Very professional highly qualified 12/16/2008

I have had a brazilian bikini waxing at different places, and it has always been a no pain-no gain kind of experience. At Nails on 54th salon, my girl was so skilled, it was over before I knew it, and I am very happy with the results. Ask Tania!! She so sweet and very professional more
