DON'T GO THERE 10/22/2011

I went to see Carlos because my silver hair was getting yellow in it. He said he could take care of it. He took care of it's yellower than it was in places that weren't yellow before. I don't know what he used on it, but after I got home into a better light, I realized that there was more yellow in my hair than before he worked on it. I went back the next day (unfortunately) and ask him to fix it. While he was working on my hair, he was saying things like ""Oh, yes, it is changing before my eyes."" He was right. It got even more yellow ! My hair is FRIED. It won't hold a curl, tangles to the point that I can't get a comb through it after shampooing, and it takes forever to blow dry, and my hair is falling out. He has ruined my hair. DON'T GO TO CARLOS....DON'T GO TO MOXIE. more

Awesome Style!!! I love this place. 6/30/2011

You know, I did research this place and was a little iffy at first. But sometimes, people just love to be critics, write crazy reviews. I'm just a simple guy who tells it as it is. Well, I was very impressed with Moxie. If you like a great ambience, talented designers and a great haircut in the end without paying a fortune, then this is the place. I'm coming back. And I'm a designer too. Thanks. more

BEWARE OF ZENA B. 4/24/2011

Do not let Zena B. near your hair... First of all she blow dries your hair out first, then cuts it!!!! I mean, I could have gone to Super Cuts and gotten the same treatment for $7. Then she proceeded to chop my hair up, which didn't really look too bad until I washed it. Then I was left with all this choppy haircut which doesn't have any style whatsoever. The final straw, you ask? She gave me baby pet peeve...I mean in what universe does a stylist do this? I told her I was growing my hair out, then she proceeded to give me baby bangs, which I can't do anything with...Many tears shed over this blunder, I almost had my bangs at the length I wanted and BOOM I trusted a stylist whom I told I want to grow my hair out. Needless to say I have been keeping a low profile and praying for my hair to grow before having to show up at work with this ridiculous cut! I wish I hadn't purchased this Groupon....This has been a horrible experience and don't wish Zena on my worst enemy. Supposedly, she worked at Vidal Sassoon, but I can only presume it was in a back room somewhere....Honestly, I could have done a better job and I'm not trained to cut hair! I have been searching for a good stylist since moving from NYC, 4 years ago ...I guess good luck with that, but if anyone knows of anyone who is reasonably priced, please let me know. more

Had great expectations...but wasn't impressed 12/28/2010

This was a very interesting experience. Overall, I loved the look, feel & ambiance of Moxie. The person at the registration desk and the girl who washed my hair were great. That’s where my good experience ended. 1 - As a person with naturally curly hair, I was actually looking forward to seeing Zena. I thought she would be more familiar with my hair type and that this would translate into a better blow-dry & cut. 2 - I found that there was a definite language gap between myself and Zena. I was pretty clear on what I wanted (about an inch or 2 taken off my layers to clean up my cut and a bang trim) and by the end of our time (the blow out took a long time), with her next appointment waiting, she seemed to get irritated and cut WAY too much off my top layer which is now as long as my bangs. 3. My appointment was 5 and the next appointment arrived around 6/615 which doesn't seem like it leaves a lot of time for a wash, blow out & cut. 4. - Post blow-dry, I was advised that there is an extra cost for flat ironing services. Which was pretty amazing to me. I’ve never experienced that at a salon. It would have been nice to know that up-front. I ultimately didn’t get charged for it as the stylist could see my frustration towards the end of our session. Soooo, after this appointment, I have mixed emotions about the salon. I’d love to give another stylist a try but it’s always awkward going back to a place after a poor experience. more

Emmanuel saved my hair 11/26/2010

After reviewing several options in regards to finding the right hair salon, I came across Moxie Hair Studio. I read everything online about the services and the hair care specialist. I had a good feeling as I read about the expertise of the stylists about hair color, cut and style. These fine people have an incredible resume and some have the incredible amount of 20 plus years of experience in their field of passion. May it be color or cuts etc. I found Emmanuel to be the right fit for my need because after I read other testimonials I came across a lady who had 10 different shades of blond and needed someone who is specializing in creating miracles. She was overjoyed with the result. I visit the salon, which is by the way state of the art. Incredible positive energy as well as top notch service. Emmanuel created a whole new look for me. My hair looked hideous. Twenty different shades of blond along with self created damage over the passed 8 months. He made me feel very comfortable and gave me his valued opinion. When I was done I couldn't believe my eyes. I felt absolutely beautiful being a brunette again, my natural hair color. I feel like I left many years behind and created a new me. All due to needed change but most of all by choosing the right person to bring this blessing and miracle about. I am so thankful I found Emmanuel who is my miracle creator. There will be no other who is going to touch my hair but him. I will always cherish this experience and with each passing day looking in the mirror I'm being reminded how fortunate I am to have found Moxie Studio and Emmanuel. I would highly recommend the salon and of course my hair miracle worker Emmanuel. Sincerely, Manuela, Henderson NV more

Very Friendly and Affordable 11/12/2010

My first experience at Moxie was simply amazing. Everyone was great and my color came out better than I expected, especially for the price. I received 6 complements the first day! Thank you, thank you. more

Such a find! 11/10/2010

After extensive online research, I decided to drive by Moxie Hair Studios and noticed not only how busy they were, but also how gorgeous it was inside. So, I went inside to look at the product and left with a cut and color that was out of this world. Staff was truly professional and friendly. Prices are very good for the standards that Moxie stands for. I love Moxie! more

Best Brazilian Keratin Treatment 10/29/2010

I was pleased from the moment my hair was done! Anyone that has gotten the BKT before knows that your hair will be a little weighed down, with some flyaways. But the blowout was great, my hair looked great from the beginning. I had to wait the requisited 72 hours before I washed my hair (and the last 24 hours was the hardest), but I will say with all honesty that my hair was still looking okay between the 48 and 72 hour timeline. And my hair didn't have that ""chemical"" smell tha tI have grown accustomed to durning my previous two treatments at another salon. I washed my hair on Sunday afternoon and it looked great... a much better outcome than my previous two treatments. I'm very happy and highly recommend Moxie! more

Fabulous! 10/25/2010

A friend who recently moved to town highly recommended Moxie Salon. I’ve lived in Summerlin for 6 years and never had chance to try Moxie as I was comfortable with my stylist. I can’t see myself going anywhere else, Moxie is a godsend. Best service, great prices, super friendly stylists and staff. I had a wonderful experience and fun time there, too. more

Emmanuel is Amazing !! My hair never looked better! 10/25/2010

The First time I went to Moxie my hair was 20 shades of blond. Emmanuel has it to a beautiful color and I have never had so many complements in my 51 years of life nor, has my hair ever looked this good. I came from Houston and had a great stylist there but could never find someone even close to my stylist there until 9 months ago when I happen to find Moxie and better yet, Emmanuel. He is amazing with color and makes it look effortless. Of course the French accent never hurts and I love the atmosphere. I would recommend Emmanuel to anyone who needs their hair corrected and to stay looking the same. He spent a lot of time with me the first two appointments because it was so bad. Now it's in (nice glass of wine and a computer while I wait on the color) and out. His cuts are surpurb as well and his up dos are amazing and creative. It took me 9 years in Vegas, but I finally found the perfect stylist. Thank you soooo much!! I can't say enough you will just have to see for youself. D.D. more

Individual and Caring service 10/22/2010

I can’t thank Moxie enough for how you have changed and improved my life. My hair is no longer a problem that I think about every day and agonize over every time I go out in public. My only regret is that I didn't come to Moxie salon earlier, instead of stressing about my hair and trying other salons in the area. I guess I had to go through a journey before I was ready for Moxie, but the prices are really reasonable and I’m never going anywhere else. I cannot describe how much it improved my life and attitude. more

Don't ever go to Carlos 10/13/2010

I just moved to Vegas from LA and went to Moxie Hair Studios because I thought they had an impressive website. But it was a whole nother story when I walked in. They gave me Carlos, he sat me in his chair with beads of sweat falling from his for head (I mean that's nasty, a big fat gross man sweating all over you while you're trying to have an experience). He asked me how I liked my hair, I told him I just wanted a trim. Then when he started cutting my hair, he turned me away from the mirror and chopped all my hair off.. I was very pissed off to say the lest. Moxie should fire Carlos because he doesn't know what he's doing, he doesn't listen to his clients and he THINKS he knows it all. I think not! Go back to beauty school and start all over again. Horrible place to go. I don't recommend it at all.... more

HAPPY AGAIN 10/12/2010

I went back to Carlos today for my base beautiful and shiny!!!!\r Thank God I didn't pay any attention to those few negative reviews...I have NEVER had better hair day's! As with anything...there are always some sour grapes in the bunch!\r Thanks Carlos for once again making my hair beautiful!!!! more

A friend of mine referred me to the ""Master Stylist"" Emmanuel, at Moxie. While I have complete trust in my friends taste and advice I decided to go. Well ... Let's just say that the reviews on this site are probably written entirely by him to give his EGO a boost. He lacks any amount of people skills whatsoever!! And the language barrier is pure B**SH** .... RUDE, ARROGANT AND MEAN IS A UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE, IS DOESN'T MATTER WHERE YOUR FROM! Let's get down to the reason for my review. I came for a hair cut from the ""Master Stylist"". I told him how I wanted my hair cut and hoping and anticipating for the best, he left it looking uneven and too full on one side, when I wanted to comment on what he was doing he would simply roll his eyes back and shrug his shoulders as if he didn't give a damn! Needless to say, I left disappointed. It was a horrible experience to say the least! I decided to call and ask if I can have a redo with someone else. I told the receptionist that I was afraid to go back to him because I feared he would retaliate and cause more damage just to be spiteful. As soon as I walked in he slivered over to me and I was so uncomfortable, he sat me in the chair and began this uncontrollable argument with me basically telling me how wrong I was! Wait a minute, aren't I the customer?? Isn't he suppose to grin and bare it, especially in this servicing field? I was placed in another uncomfortable situation, I was afraid, intimidated and treated like the bad guy. He was extremely rude, and inconsiderate of my feelings. Finally, I was seen by the Director of the salon, Fausto came to my rescue and with a smile on his face he quickly fixed the damage caused by Emmanuel, too bad he can't fix the emotional damage that he caused me!! I'm not sure if I will ever come back to Moxie. Something must be wrong when a client is fearful to go back to a salon, not so much for a bad haircut but for the vile presence an employee can bring in an atmosphere! I'd be hard pressed if I was the only person that has been treated like this by him! HE does it without any semblance of humanity whatsoever. In a nutshell ... go to Fausto if you want to be treated with respect! He is a true professional and a class act! If you like being treated like garbage then you're going to the right person. more

Hit or Miss 10/11/2010

I first found Moxie on Citysearch and called to set up an appointment to get my hair blown out. I have naturally curly hair that I wear straight. I can't blow out my own hair the way I like it so I need to find someplace that I like for my twice-weekly, or more, appointments.\r \r I called and they set me up with Carlos after first telling me they were going to put me with someone else. He did a great job on my blowout and I returned again and again.\r \r I needed my hair colored and they set me up with Emmanuelle. He was DIVINE. His color was right on and his blowouts were good, although they didn't hold as long as I would have liked. He also has this very sweet personality and a great French accent. Those are just bonuses; his color was fabulous!\r \r I went back in to see Carlos because I was attending a black-tie event and needed my hair done especially for this. I was told he had an hour and a half to work on it so I felt comfortable as that was about when I had to leave to get ready. You have to know this if you want to see Carlos (which I really don't recommend): he would much rather do your hair HIS way than the way you like it. He turns you away from the mirror so you can't critique it as he's doing it. He didn't like the way I wore my hair and tried to convince me to do it a different way. I had to correct him more than once about it. Anyway, the day of the event he blows my hair out and starts doing these chunky curls around my face, which I liked. He told me he was going to leave them like that when I asked because he knew I'd be running my fingers through them and loosening them up anyway. I liked that so I left it that way. At the end of the styling I could tell he was getting anxious because he had clients waiting. You should also know they book back-to-back so you will not get great treatment when that happens and rush jobs look terrible, obviously. So, at the end he starts brushing through my curls that he said he was going to leave and taking all the curl out of my hair. I was now being rushed by my date to the event, rushed by Carlos because he had other clients and my hair was being ruined before my eyes. I asked him what he was doing and why he was brushing my hair. He had forgotten what he'd said about the curls. I didn't get upset, but I was in a hurry and needed him to fix the problem. He stopped what he was doing and went outside in the back. After 10 minutes of waiting I finally went and found him and told him never mind, I had to go. I had no idea he was even upset. He didn't address anything, he just ran off to the back and left me alone after telling me he's done hair for more important people than me and he knows how to fix problems. SO unprofessional. I gave him a good tip, as usual (although not deserved) and left. I wasn't rude, I didn't say anything about how bad I felt my hair looked (for $140 with tip) or anything. \r \r I had an appointment set up for a few days later. They called and told me that they needed to set me up with a different stylist because Carlos, the hiring manager and head of stylists, lost his cool over a bad hair style and couldn't work with me. If you like overly sensitive stylists who think they know what's right for you and would like for you to be quiet and let them do it, then this is the salon for you. Granted, Emmanuelle was fantastic, but I just couldn't justify paying $80 (with tip) for a blowout from him.\r \r This salon is nice, but you have to generally wait past your appointment time to have your hair done because their scheduling is so bad. Also, for some reason, this salon (located in Vegas, not NYC -- where I moved from -- or anything close) can make you feel like you're being looked down upon. I spend too much money on my hair to not feel appreciated for it.\r \r Pros: Emmanuelle and his amazing color\r \r Cons: Always have to wait, people there, for some bizarre reason, always look down on you, temper-tantrum throwing know-it-all stylists (Carlos) more
