This was my first encounter with the chain of salons. While the front desk receptionist set up an appointment for me later the same day I walked in, my experience upon returning was not what I'd hoped for. With a new stylist, I've always had kind inquiry and positive if not warm interactions. The stylist with whom I was assigned said she had 16 years of experience, yet she made zero attempt to get to know me. While she did ask about my level of hair care and we did discuss my style opts, it was the coldest interaction I've ever had, in a stylist's chair. While a semi-good cut was given, my curls were straightened after I had asked for an easy-care style that would enhance my natural wave. If you're looking for a friendly stylist, perhaps another stylist or salon is what you need. more

I went to mitchell's in Preston Corners, and I throughly enjoyed my experience! I called to make my appointment, and the receptionist Lisa helped set me up with a stylist. Lisa listened to what I was looking for in a stylist and set me up with Kabita based on what I was looking for. The minute I walked in the door, I was immediately greeted and checked in by a very happy receptionist. The service I received was the best I've gotten at a hair salon in a very long time, and my haircut from Kabita was amazing! If you need a haircut, Mitchell's at Preston Corners is the place to go! Yesterday on April 8th I decided last minute that I wanted to get my hair cut. I didn't have an appoitment but was hoping that I could see someone right away. When I walked in Mitchell's at Preston Corners I was greeted by the receptionist at the front, I explained to her that I wanted a new look but wanted someone very confident because I have very curly hair and it can be hard to manage at times..She right away introduced me to the manager Kris, when I sat in her booth I really didn't know what I wanted but was so impressed with the time Kris took with me , she went over all my options and never rushed me or made me feel unsure about my decision...After the haircut needless to say I was SO IMPRESSED!!! I got a haircut I never knew I always wanted...I believe that by Kris taking the time to really listen to me and understand what I wanted she was able to give me the new look I wanted. I was so impressed with her I brought my 9 year old daughter back today, Madison hates getting her hair cut but after an hour in Kris's chair she was so happy and enjoyed the whole experience, We are both so happy with our new looks and that we were able to meet someone who really cares about making others feel better about themselves!!! So on wednesday (7/2), I went into Mitchell's hoping that the stylist I had gotten would be able to achieve the dream hair I had always wanted. I had been inspired by my friend who had recently done something crazy and cool to her hair. I walked up to the counter and told them my name and I had an appointment, they weren't too friendly, but they said she would be out in a minute. I saw her in the back still smoking cigarettes, even after my appointment time. I was already in a very happy and friendly mood and smiled at her, receiving a rude expressionless face in response. I told her I didn't want to take any length off and I wanted bangs that covered more of my face. I showed her a few pictures I brought in and said I liked those and she was STILL rude about that. I asked if I could add a little black underneath because I had that before and I liked it. I wanted to add a few strands/streaks of a dark red-ish or purple color. I wanted to keep the natural blonde hair on top. She was negative towards what I had wanted and gave me the ideas of putting black underneath, then a whole layer of purple, and then blonde on top. When she said blonde, I thought she meant the blonde I had so I was happy about that. She put the dye in with about 2/5 of the underneath black, then 2/5 dark purple, and then 1/5 blonde. I was curious as to why she was putting blonde dye in my hair considering I never agreed to that and I even specifically told her I did not like bright blonde hair that looks unnatural and yellow. I tried not to worry. After she put all the dye in my hair, I went to sit under the hair dryer. I had no idea what to expect at that point. After I was done, she allowed me to look in the mirror, my no longer light brown-ish blonde hair was BRIGHT BLONDE. Brittany bleached my hair without my permission. All her clothes smelled of smoke and it had been choking me. My whole body broke into a deep sweat, I tried to stay calm and figured it wouldn't look too bad. Do not go to Mitchell's Hair Styling on High House. Receptionist was rude, over priced for the service provided and revolving door of hairstylist. I agree not to get Ellay for hair color. She takes way too long and does not do a good job. Seems to only copy previous style and cut. Not innovative or helpful in making suggestions. They have lost my business. I had a terrible experience with color here, by the owner's SON, no less. I asked for my brown hair to be slightly deepened in color, and what I got was a head full of nearly black hair. I was freaking out, so of course he didn't charge me. They whole place seems really immature and the lack of experience is glaringly obvious. I mean, really--who sticks a level 4 color on someone's hair for 45 minutes and doesn't expect it to look ugly and dark??? (He didn't tell me the level of color until after I freaked out and asked him when I saw my 'black"" hair) Cons: lack of experience more

I will not be returning to Mitchell's Hair Styling at the Preston Corners location. The front desk clerk is rude and will talk to other customers and co-workers in the middle of your transaction. Do not get Ellyah for your hair unless you are looking for a trim. She followed the same cut I had and took off only a 1/8th of an inch to ""shape it up"" and then charged full price for wash/style/cut and conditioner. Very disappointing experience. I got the best hair cut of my life here. Then the stylist left. They rescheduled me with someone else. Before I could get to that appointment, SHE quit, so they rescheduled me again with someone else. It's getting old... Will go elsewhere. I tried several salons after moving to the area, before settling on Mitchell's at Preston Corners. It's a great salon. They even send coupons in the mail sometimes. The stylists are ranked & their pricing is according to their rank. If you have curly hair, ask for Cory!! more
