December 17 Dinner 12/26/2010

approximately two weeks prior to 12'17 I made dinner reservations for 12. At the time I requested that we have Brandon as our server and was told that would be no problem. Someone from Mitchells called on 12/16 to confirm our reservation at which time I again mentioned Brandon and was assured he would serve us. When we got to the restaurant we were initially told he couldn't serve us, then we were told he couldn't, and he didn't. We've been coming to Mitchell's since you opened at the Waterfront and Brandon has waited on us almost exclusively since he started woking there. There are a lot of places I could go to have dinner but I chose Mitchells and one of the primary reasons is Brandon. He is an excellent waiter and someone who makes the dining experience pleasurable It was not the same without him. This situation was handled poorly and was disappointing. Thank you. more

Never had a bad experience 5/28/2009

Not just ok for the$$$$$$$ 10/14/2008

My fiance decided to eat there for her birthday Tues night nice crowd good atmosphere good service . what i was dissapointed about was the only thing that counts... THE FOOD!!!. Our appetizers Ahi tuna and Spinach crab dip came out fast , but we both agreed tuna tasted fishy for what it is . We eat it everywhere raw and we couldnt finish the 5 pieces. Crab dip was ok but for $14 you hate to see canned crab meat. Chowder we ordered def wasn't homemade pretty much tasted like eat n parks potatoe soup. these I can all live with , but my meal is what I'm most disatisfied with. I ordered the Cr ab cake and gulf shrimp combo... Came out cold didn't say anything.. 3 shrimp (med) not large, and 1 crabcake size of a golf ball for $24... Crazy! i ate it but just shocked I love a nice place but c'mon $24 I know it is alot classier then redlobster or ktetzlers or even roland's but They all give you so much more for the money!!! I didn't listen to the reviews I read and I wish I would have. Your stomache should be the judge of a place not the name of the place... Monteray Bay is worth the prce of admission ,but homestead Mitchell's is not. ! Redlobster here I come more

Cold food, big prices 7/5/2008

My sister and I took our father here for Father's Day. Boy, were we disappointed. Our waitress was terrible and left us waiting around forever for everything. Our food sat on a counter for about 20 minutes before she finally decided to bring it to us. It was cold. My sister got the wrong food and the waitress tried to blame her. The waitress left at one point and NEVER CAME BACK....I mean, TOTALLY ignored us, walked past our table about 5 times. Finally, we had to flag down another waitress who finished our service. We ended up giving her the tip. We asked why our waitress never came back and she tried to tell us the restaurant was full and they were understaffed.....that was a lie because there were about 20 EMPTY tables by my count. I will never go back. I have gotten better service at McDonalds. Pros: We didn't have a wait Cons: Cold food, rude waitress, sat around waiting to be waited on more

Mitchell's Fish Market at the Waterfront 2/14/2008

My boyfriend and I went to Mitchell's Fish Market at the Waterfront on Valentine's Day and both had scrumptious meals. I had my regular choice of the Cedar Plank Salmon and he had the trio. We topped it off with the berrie cobbler which was recommended by our server (Dionne) who was right on target. The cobbler was the BEST we have ever had. It was a perfect night. Thanks Mitchell's! more

Extremely Overrated!! 12/27/2007

Waitresses have attitude, Food over done and dry -- for what you get in terms of quality, prices way out of line. Keep in mind, I've given this place 3 tries. When they found out i write Food reviews for a Pgh newspaper, they tried changing their tune. Too late. Pros: None! Cons: Do i really need to list them? more

Great seafood, great customer service, atmosphere was great, prices fair. 8/8/2006

My date and I went for early dinner and were very happy with our choices. I had broilled scallops and she had the rainbow trout incrusted with pecans. The vegtables were done just right. We thought the clam chouder was excellent. Pros: Atmosphere, food, service. more

I don't know why there are complaints here!!! I go all the time. The food is always excellent, the service terrific. The waitstaff will go out of their way to accomodate a customer. And the price, well, its a seafood restaurant, not a burger joint!! I expect to pay a little more for well prepared, fresh seafood and its worth it. I've been to my share of seafood places around the country, Mitchell's is a good value. Pros: Service, Great Food, Patio Dining more

Pittsburgh's Worst-Waterfront 7/11/2005

No atmosphere....not to mention the small portions and HUGE price! Tasteless food and service!!!! Pros: Spacious more

Horrible Service & Small Portions 3/5/2005

What a disappointment! I took my sisters & a friend here after a day of shopping & a movie. We were all in the mood for seafood so naturally we went to the only seafood restaurant at Waterfront. The service was THE worst I have had. It took forever to get waited on & then we were totally ignored until she came over with a check. I will never go back there and tell people of my experience I had. Cons: small portions, waitstaff more

#1 For Fresh Seafood 3/2/2004

I have been to other seafood restaurants and I realized that if you want FRESH, GOOD seafood you need to travel to the Waterfront and enjoy the taste of Mitchell's Fish Market. Always fresh never frozen!! Pros: Great parking, View of the river, Great service more

Little fish....big bill 8/15/2002

Do you want to spend 45$ on a 5oz piece of meat, a 2oz piece of lobster, and 3 green beans? Yeah, i thought not. Service is horrible. Food is tasty, but after 2 of us spending $100....we went for a pizza because we were still hungry. Awful. Cons: small portions, expensive, bad service more

delicious 8/5/2002

The food was out of this world. Appetizers were outstanding as we tried 3 different ones. The Salmon quesadillas were to die for. Plenty of good food for the price. If you go home hungry or disappointed shame on you. more
