These guys were a company referred to me by my father who is a general contractor. They used to do good work for him. I contracted them for a heat pump to be added to my gas furnace. They were a little high on the quote but I thought because they used my perferred brand, American Standard/Trane, it would be a better fit with my furnace.
The first guys didn't do a very good job of sealing the coil to the furance so there was a lot of hot air going into the garage. Then the following day nobody showed up even though I was at home and took the day off of work. The called and said their was confusion and they would be back the next week. The next week, a subcontractor showed up who was the only competent person I worked with on the project. He had to go get lots of parts they had forgot to bring and it took him all day but he did finally finish. That night the Heat Pump didn't seem to be putting out much heat and in the morning he confirmed the blade had fallen off the motor inside the heat pump. It didn't do much damage but it did damage some of the internal parts. He did put it back together and it is working fairly well.
I called and let them know there were two items outstanding. The leaky seal on the coil and the damage to the heat pump. I had to take another day off work to be home and they came out and slapped some furnace tap over the leaky coil, which fixed it sort of but not entirely. They documented the problem on the heat pump and assured me it would be fixed.
3 weeks later and I haven't even received a call back or a reply to my emails asking for a status. Once I paid the bill in full they won't answer or return phone calls or emails. On top of this I don't know where my warranty on parts and labor stands, I guess there isn't one since I can't get a hold of them.
I have now engaged a lawyer to try and figure this out. It really didn't have to be hard but Mitchell Mechanical decided to make it hard. A simple call letting me know it would take some time would have sufficed.
