Long live video stores! 2/17/2009

What a pleasure to have this local neighborhood video store still going strong! Mr. Video has been open for over 20 years (yes, that's right Mr. Money who just moved to Brooklyn Heights and doesn't know their community history). Much respect just for that!\r What a pleasure walking into a store that actually treats you like you're a human being - they actually greet you when you walk in the door and say hi to you when you approach the counter. The customer service is excellent and very helpful.\r I personally love to browse video and record stores (sadly Brooklyn Heights is missing one of these since Soundtrack on Montague Street closed) and come across and discover titles that I would not normally have seen on the internet.\r A great collection of both new and old films and still rent VHS which is a major PLUS.\r Prices are completely reasonable - $4.25 for a new release is not bad at all. Silly if you are living in Brooklyn Heights and complaining about paying $4.25 for a film when most of these people are gladly walking into Starbucks and paying $4 for a cup of coffee! Last I checked, a film gives you two hours of entertainment, and you'll be lucky if they get your mocha docha latte right at the coffee shop.\r They have great rental plans where you can pre-pay for your films and they don't expire. By doing this you can pay as less as $2.50 a rental. Now that's a deal.\r Sure they still charge late fees - they are an old school video store, but it is a neighborhood store with most of the members living only a few blocks from the store. So to complain about fees is just people being lazy and if you're living in Brooklyn Heights, you really don't deserve to whine about much, especially late fees on a video.\r \r Mr. Video is a great store and I hope it is around for another 20 years. The neighborhood needs them, movie geeks like me need them, and Brooklyn needs them! Long live video stores! Pros: Great mix of old and new films, great customer service more
