Best

Amazing sushi, always fresh! We've been ordering from them for almost 3 years and have never been disappointed yet! The restaurant itself is very cozy and has the usual quite zen ...

Worst

Food is quite good but gentleman handling takeout orders is rude and arrogant. Strange time for a restaurant to be treaing customers shabbily.

Fresh and Delicious Sushi! 12/16/2010

I've been to Misono three times (once for take out and twice for dining in). All three times I have been satisfied - and left full! The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. One of my favorites is the Dynamite Roll and I love the peanut chicken lettuce wraps. Misono is hands down my favorite sushi restaurant! more

Most likely the best sushi in the Newton/Brookline area 12/2/2010

Amazing sushi, always fresh! We've been ordering from them for almost 3 years and have never been disappointed yet! The restaurant itself is very cozy and has the usual quite zen sense decor. It is small, so there is almost always a wait. I'd say they've surpassed Fugakuyu at this point, those are our 2 fave sushi places. Oishi doesn't do it for us.... Good job guys, Misono rules! more

Excellent lunch special 2/11/2010

If you are looking for great lunch specials Misono is the place to eat. I tried their Miso Salmon and not only was the fish cooked perfectly but it wasn't a tiny piece that you'd normally expect for a lunch special. The salmon came on a nice bed of rice with a very tasty sauce drizzled over it all. I highly recommend trying Misono if you are looking for a good meal. Pros: Great price, Ton of food more

Great deal, good food 1/20/2010

If you want to eat a lot of fish for a reasonable price, Misono's sushi menu is the best I've found. There are other places that serve better-tasting sushi (to my tastes--I'm not a big fan of the excessive rice seasoning in their Don, and the fish-to-rice ratio of their nigiri is high in my mind). But you'll literally get 2-3 times as much fish at Misono as other restaurants, for the same price, and their menu has a variety of Don options and LOT of lunch specials. And our son loves the fish pond! Pros: a LOT of tasty sushi for the money more

FABULOUS SUSHI 7/31/2009

What a wonderful restaurant. I have been eating sushi at Misono every week for years and cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. I have tried Oishi twice because I heard it was the best sushi in town, and I have been so much more impressed with Misono. Their sushi is always delicious, so fresh and always consistent. And the manager / owner (?) is always so courteous and friendly, they really make you feel like they value your patronage and want to ensure you enjoy the dining experience. if you are looking for a smaller, quieter place for a delicious sushi meal, try Misono. I love it. Pros: Excellent sushi Cons: Outside of downtown Boston more

In Response to ""Cheating Phone Orders"" 6/25/2008

I am an absolute food snob and recently discovered Misono after moving close by. The first time I tried their restaurant, I made it an telephone order to go. I can honestly say I have NO idea where the other commenter got the idea that people get cheated on phone orders! I got wonderful service and I have ordered food by phone multiple times and I have NEVER had a problem. Not to mention the fact that the food is great, the people who serviced my over the phone and the people who I talked to inside the restaurant are fabulous! Misono has great prices, really good food, creative dishes, and great employees. I am so glad that they are in walking distance from me, so I can walk off some calories before having dinner, stuff myself until I can barely move, and then I can walk some of it off on the way home! :-) The only thing I would recommend is calling ahead of time because even though they close at 10 P.M. Monday through Thursday, sometimes they start closing down at 9:30 if it is very slow. I got caught trying to make an order at 9:40 P.M. one night and they said they had stopped taking orders at 9:30. Pros: Great food, relaxing ambience, very nice employees/owners Cons: Sometimes they start closing earlier than times indicated on take-out menu more

Hidden treasure...the BEST sushi!! 5/22/2008

I have been to many sushi restaurants and this is by far my favorite. I always order off the specials menu....the creative rolls are DELICIOUS....I highly reccomend the Lobster Explosion!! My husband and I try to get in at least once a week. We can bring our toddler and enjoy the great food and atmosphere. The staff is extremely friendly and accomodating. The hostess is great and has gone out of her way to heat up food for my toddler that I had brought from home. If we can not make it in then we will order take out....which is also EXCELLENT. By far the BEST Sushi place around. MMMM. Pros: The accomodating staff, the inventive specials menu, the superior quality of food. more

good food , bad service ...... 5/4/2008

The food was good but the service was mediocre. The girl that waited on my table was unfriendly and never smiled once. I decided to leave just over 10 % percent gratuity because I felt that was all she deserved for the service she provided. The service was not good enough for me to leave her more. After I walked out of the restaurant, she came chasing me down the street. She says that she deserved more tip and that I am requested to leave her more at least 15 % and that she only gets paid $ 2. + an hour. I could not believe the audacity she had to request from me how much I should leave for a tip. I believe you have to work for a good tip and she certainly did not. I hope the manager of this establishments reads this... more

great and consistant place 4/25/2008

I work in the area and always come in for lunch. There fish is always fresh and the staff is always great. I highly recomend this place. Pros: food more

Quality Sushi in West Roxbury 2/18/2008

This place is great. My wife and I have ordered from Misono for the past 3 years and have enjoyed it. The service is professional, polite, and efficient. The food is delicious and fresh. We have dined in and ordered take-out. Our favorites are the Makimono Trio, the Sushi Deluxe, and the Chirashi sushi. Of course the California roll is a winner too! Pros: Sushi quality Cons: None. This place is great! more

A Great Place to Eat 1/10/2008

My girlfriend and I eat here about twice a month and love it. Their sushi is always tasty and their service is good. What I like most about this place is its unpretentious atmosphere. I can go and be as casual or dressed up as I like and it still feels just right. The decor inside is very calm inviting. Pros: Parking, Atmosphere, Decor, Food, Value Cons: Running out of Mochi more

Hidden Treasure Found!! 8/21/2007

My wife and I have been to many sushi restaurants in Boston and have not found one where we would go twice. However, after eating at Misono (recomended from my boss), we have been there countless amount of times and EVERY time is just better than the last. I normally dont write reviews, but I just want Boston to know about this place that is just not well known. Pros: Sushi, service, atmosphere Cons: bathroom was small more

Delicious lunch Mondays-Saturdays 3/11/2007

The lunch at Misnono is great. Their take out bento was well prepared and was set beautifully. The bento I bought had salad with ginger dressing, a special weekly side, salmon terriyaki with broccoli, and shumai. The shumai was crisp on the outside and the salmon didn't taste fishy at all. The Korean barbecue is also good. This deserves two thumbs up Pros: Good lunch, nice aura Cons: Pricey, bad dinner, bad sushi more

Cheat on phone orders 2/16/2007

If you are placing an order over the phone, you are risking paying 3+ times more than expected. Cons: Cheating for phone orders more

Sushi as Art....and it tastes that good too. 4/7/2006

If you enjoy watching a true sushi artist, the sushi bar at Misono, where you can enjoy Oshino, the sushi chef, is the place to be. With the tilt of his head, he puts the final touches on your sushi-as-art. We have tried many Boston sushi restaurants and Misono is clearly the best for flavor and presentation. Try the Red Dragon Roll and the Spicy Scallop Trio. Oshinos Naruto is a thin-sliced cucumber roll with salmon, tuna, yellowtail, crabmeat, fish roe, avocado, and spicy mayo. An original. With Oshino as your sushi god, and Chayan as your server, you've been three times blessded. Pros: Reasonable, easy parking, pleasant more
