Definitely Authentic Dim Sum 1/8/2010

I have to say that Ming Dynasty is about as close to authentic Chinese food that you will find in Albuquerque.  Their dim sum is actually a nice surprise, but I do have to say that it is quite average. It does the job if you're looking for real dim sum.  Their shiu mai is a little dry for my taste.  I'm not sure if they use beef or pork or if they cook it too long but it is a little too dry, which I feel if they used the right ingredients or cooked it a bit different they could vastly improve the shiu mai.  This is a staple in dim sum and is one of the dishes that could make or break the overall dim sum experience and would have deserved another star. Other than that, the rest of the dim sum is quite good and if you are daring enough to try chicken feet, it is worth a try. I am not a fan of it so I don't order that dish. Another dish that is a must that I have not seen on the carts, but they do have is their beef noodle dish. If you don't know the name just ask for a page that has pictures of the dishes. It is basically a blanket of white noodle that just wraps around a piece of beef. It is excellent. The noodles are a bit soggy but nonetheless the flavor is definitely there. What makes the dish is this sweet soy sauce that they pour over it and I always try and soak up as much of that soy sauce as I can with every bite. Make sure that you order it and I think they special make it because I've been there a couple times and have not seen it on any dishes and have to ask for it every time. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, some do not speak english which just adds to the experience in my opinion. Pros: Best in town Cons: Average compared to other cities more

Try their dim sum - it's good 1/2/2008

We visited the Ming Dynasty on 12/30/07. Being recent transplants from the San Francisco Bay Area, we had easy access to good Chinese food. I was surprised that we would find dim sum here in Albuquerque, much less good dim sum. The selection was plentiful, much more than we could eat. We especially enjoyed the shu mai, the rice porridge and the eggplant with shrimp. Their egg tarts are the best, even better than the Bay Area. What was not as good is the potstickers. They make up for that with yummy barbequed pork buns. They only serve dim sum on weekends from 11:00AM to 2:00PM - on Fridays off the menu and Saturday and Sunday off the carts. But, if you want something not on the carts, they are quick to prepare it for you. Be sure to check out the Ming Dynasty. The quality of the food, reasonable prices and good service will bring you back for more. more

Wow 5/2/2005

I find three things amazing about the Ming Dynasty. First, the food is by far the best Chinese in New Mexico, and probably far beyond N.M. as well. Second the service is impeccable; warm, friendly and always timely. Third, this wonderful restaurant seems to be the best kept secret in Albuquerque. Given the pleasant atmosphere, the unmatched food and service, this place should be packed out every day they are open, but alas they are not. Give it a try! You'll be back again and again. Pros: service, food, affordable more
