My friend and I decided to go out to eat on saturday night, last minute. Wanting to try something new, we decided on Mimosa. It looks SO great, great ambiance, the food smelled great- we were so excited. Then we sat down...
Our appetizer took about 25 minutes to come out, we even had to ask someone to check on it. Even the ladies who sat down AFTER us had their appetizer before we did. We had the Mac and cheese, super oily but edible.
We continually had to ask for water and, I guess, they were shorthanded because our waiter and the maitre d were scrambling around all night, it was impossible for us or the table next to us to get their attention. After about 25 more minutes, our food came. We both ordered Sole and it was HORRIBLE. My mashed potatoes arrived with a thin film on the top- the kind that develops when food has been sitting out for a while- The plate was scorching hot but the food wasn't. The fish was rubbery...and really oily- I had to remove it from my mouth immediately. The lady next to us said that usually the food was great and in France, eating is a leisurely activity- I politely explained to her that this wasn't France and this food, was bad, French or not. We tried to send it back but after about 10 minutes of seeing no one, we decided to just leave money for the mac and cheese and leave- finally the maitre d found us, he asked what was wrong, barely stuck around to hear the answer and disappeared with our plates. On the plus side, he comped the entire "meal" and that was that. I'm sure it's not a bad place, but really, if you can't handle a busy restaurant, don't seat so many people.
Pros: Great ambiance
Cons: Bad sole, slow and unavailable service
