I have been living at Middle Village Apartments for over 7 years and things just get worse and worse at this apartment complex. The problem is that the Landlord/Superindentant appears to not be interested in doing any repairs and comes up with any excuse not to do things and will play any game in order to avoid doing repairs. Yes the apartment complex was built in 1939 (think about that 1939 so it is over 70 years old) so there are of course things that will go wrong with it but the Landlord/Superintendant uses this sometimes as an excuse not to repair things when they can. Several years ago they instituted a new plan because apparently people were complaining to the city about this problem. The plan was to have people submit a repair form detailing what needed to be done instead of calling the super/landlord so that things could be done ins an orderly way and that they could be documented and acted upon. Do you know what they did? They simply ignored the repair forms. I know of one person who submitted a repair form 5 times and they ignored her and she was an elderly lady of over 80 years old on her own. Can you imagine that? YOu can call up the main number at Middle Village Apartments for the business office but all you will get is a auotmatic recording outgoing message with absolutely no identification as to who you have called. They do this to give you the impression you may have called somebody else and they do this so that they remain anonymous and possibly feel that they don't have to call you. You use to be able to call the Landlord at his office in another part of the state but that has been discontinued also. And when the Landlord shows up for some unexpected reason he literally ignores you. I asked him a question about the grounds and he came up with a non-answer. However he will try to do things to the apartment to get a rent increase. For example, he installed a security door/buzzer system that increased the rent but hasn't worked in years and either the buzzers don't work and/or the front door doesn't close!! People who live in this apartment complex are paying for a single bedroom apartment in the area of $900 or more but it is NOT WORTH IT by any means. Things will go wrong and they will do everything in their power not to fix it, mostly by ignoring your request even if you apply for the repair several times. Oh, on the repair form itself it states that you are not allowed to approach the superintendant on the grounds and you are told to call the office ONLY in the event of an emergency. And if you call and they think it is not an emergency they sometimes yell at you. And they will sometimes say it is your fault that something happened with the apartment after you have approached them. You have a lease that when you sign you are responsible for almost everything. People also break just about every thing you are not supposed to do. For example, no one is allowed to have a dog and they do. The lease says that you are supposed to have only two adults and one child and many, many people have more people than this. The garages are run down and break often yet you are charged separate rent for that and this does not get repaired and you have your car locked in that!! The grounds have improved in the upkeep but it was not always that way but apparently someone called and had to complain to the town. One years there was a big snowstorm and one person told me that they had to call the police and the mayor in order to get the snow removed!! Two people told me that one person robbed the apartments twice and still lives there!! And the person who told me had their apartment robbed and was injured physically. Do not rent an apartment at Middle Village Apartments!!!!! Just walk around the apartment, look around and talk to people and you will see that all I have said is true. If not, then they are afraid to tell you or they are happy with what they have as they have 5 people in their apartment!!!
