Smelly office prescribes expensive drugs-BEWARE!!! 7/7/2011

When I first took my son in the office smelled ""funny"" ...like a dirty gym sock which immediately made me question the cleanliness there. We waited a long time before taken back --almost an hour even though I called ahead to make sure the doctor was not running late as I work in a doctor's office and did not want to leave any sooner than I had to. Dr. Elena seemed nice and truely interested. She removed a wart from my son's hand. He later got a staph infection which swelled his entire hand and forearm!! Dr. Elena prescribed an antibiotic that was almost $200. I was so worried about my son's hand I paid the pharmacist so I could give it to my son. I asked her at his next appt to prescribe a generic as I am a single mom with limited income. The generic was LESS THAN $5.00 !!! WAY BIG Difference!!! I think they must be getting a kickback from these drug companies. I don't ever want to go back. I've seen Dr. Turner talk to his shirt pocket as well. I would not see these two doctors in this group if I were you...if you must go get a gas mask to wear. more

Doctors that don't even speak to you 12/30/2010

Do not use Mid-South Dermatology. This place is a racket. Seems like Dr. Turner has a goal of seeing 150 patients per hour. After a 1 hour wait, the doctor and nurse came in. They allowed me 12 seconds to explain my problem. Dr. Turner never spoke directly at me, he only spoke in to his shirt pocket where he had his voice recorder. He kept telling his shirt pocket my personal information and his brief thoughts about my problem. He told the nurse give her shot, do this, do that. Next thing I know I'm getting a shot and don't even know what the shot is or why I'm getting it or how it will help me. Doctor Turner then instructs the nurse to give me some other treatment and again never speaks to me or tells me what it is or why or how it will help. The entire exam/consultation took about 1.5 minutes. I was never given a chance to ask questions. Dr. Turner never even told me the diagnosis, I had to ask the nurse after he was gone. If you do ask a question Dr. Turner immediately starts speaking to his shirt pocket and telling his voice recorder what you asked and what he told you. Seems like his only goal is to see a million patients per minute and protect himself from lawsuits which is why he records his every move and every statement in to his shirt pocket microphone. The whole visit was like speed-medical practice. It was rediculous. I know Doctors are not always the most personable, charismatic people but this guy is rediculous. more

overcharges for poor lax care 10/24/2007

BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE OF THIS UN-SCRUPULOUS ""GET RICH QUCIK"" GROUP!!!! I strongly suggest that you do not see the Mid South dermatology group at 6570 Stage. They have appointsments readily available and there is a reason for this. You will most-likely be mis-lead about the fee, prescribed overly expensive medications , and the doctor that you will see is not really a Dr but a licensed Dr. assistant who will charge just as much as the real Dr. even though you were initially told that the fee is much cheaper to see the assistant. ( Why else would anyone see a dr assistant instead of the Dr. unless the fee was cheaper) I saw Elena Keserson who blessed me with a 3 minute seession of very lax, poor care and then I was over charged and told that my bill was higher becasue I was given samples. When I went to fill my prescription, I found that it was $248 when in fact there were other prescriptions that worked just as well at a fraction of the cost THAT COULD HAVE BEEN PRESCRIBED. I was so upset about the care I received that I am filing a report with the Tennessee Medical Board. VERY VERY POOR CARE IN MY OPINION!!! Cons: you will need to make several visits for simple problem as they only make money when you come more
