It's very hard to find discounts these days on electronics. Seems like all the places charge exactly the same. I don't order online anymore because if the product breaks down you have to deal directly with the manufacturer, which means sending it back and going weeks without it as they service it. So I'm willing to pay a little more to shop in person. But Best Buy also has terrible customer service. So I stopped into Micro Center, only to find their prices even higher than Best Buy...much higher. I've since read that their customer service is terrible too. If you live in the Chicago area, perhaps your only good option is to make your own computer. more

I Came I Saw I Left 3/26/2011

Speaking of Macintosh Systems, I went to Micro Center, fully intending on buying one. I wanted a top of the line model. I did purchase one. But not at Micro Center, simply because they had far and away the highest price compared to EVERY competitor. I wound up ordering one online for almost thousand less, yes...a thousand less! more

You Gotta Be Kidding 2/26/2011

My last Micro Center shopping experience was honestly my worst ever. How does a place like this survive? Do they hypnotize people? Is it something in the water? I wanted to check and see if they had the computer I wanted. But nobody ever answered the phone after about 10 tries. So like a fool I drove there anyway, based on reviews saying their prices and deals were good. I should have read the bad reviews too. They are above the suggested retail prices on almost every computer they sell. The same with their other electronics. The cashiers were very rude when I asked for directions around the store and I was never able to find a salesperson. I wanted to ask one if those prices were marked wrong by mistake. I later called their customer service to find out, but they actually came out and said "We don't want to talk to you." I don't feel right even giving them 1 star. So I'll say -1 is what they really deserve. more

Chicagoans Are Not Too Bright 2/15/2011

I went to Micro Center for the first time a few days ago. It will definitely be my last. How have they survived over the years? This is mind boggling to me. There wasn't a thing I liked about this place. I was in a bad mood to start with because the traffic in their area is horrible. And I went there at 2 in the afternoon. When I walked in, I asked on of the cashiers where the computers were and was told "Can't you see I'm busy?" I finally found the computer section and couldn't believe how high their prices were. What few salesman they had were busy with other customers, who actually seemed interested in making purchases. In a city where Rahm Emanuel will likely become mayor, I shouldn't be surprised. I bet anywhere else in the country people would be smart enough to stay away. Micro Center is a must to avoid. more

Terrible Prices 2/7/2011

Micro Center does not have competitive prices anymore. I'm amazed they're still getting any business at all. Shop and compare folks. Everybody can do better now. I had also called on the phone numerous times to ask some questions, but nobody ever picked up the phone. more

Their prices are too high, their salespeople are dishonest, their customer service is terrible and they never answer the phone. It wasn't always this bad. But it is now. Stay away! more

Best to Worst 2/3/2011

Based on reviews I read here, I went to Micro Center expecting great prices and deals. It was just the opposite. Their prices on computers were almost DOUBLE what I've seen at other retailers. As for making deals, no such thing anymore here. After browsing around for nearly an hour no salespeople ever approached me. See you later. more

I'm sorry but I feel like review places like Judysbook and others are being misleading because they are still relying heavily on very old reviews. This is 2011 and Micro Center no longer has the best prices or deals. On the contrary their prices are very high and they no longer make deals. Pay their high prices or go somewhere else. I'll do the latter. more

Micro Center Living in the Past 1/31/2011

Athletes in the twilight of their careers can talk about what they once were and wistfully but proudly look back upon their glory days. Unfortunately I think Micro Center is doing the same. However, there's a difference here: Unlike great athletes winding down with their careers, consumers still think they're getting Micro Center in their prime. People still think the prices are the best and the salespeople are serving their best interests. That is NOT the case now. So, in the past if we waited a long time for somebody to answer the phone, for a salesperson to serve us, for a cashier to ring us up or for anything resembling customer service, well perhaps doing business with the best was worth all of this. But this is the present, and it's simply not worth doing business with Micro Center any longer. Order your products online and save yourself a lot of money and grief. more

Computer nerds, check it out 1/7/2011

Good: I like the ocassional sales they have on PC components like processors and hard drives. I also like the ability to order online and then pick it up in-store. The employees are also pretty helpful when looking for hard to find items. Parking is pretty easy to find.. Bad: The store looks a little old, I guess, and the area isn't exactly high class, but I feel safe.. more

Service Center WOES 5/4/2010

Good: The retail store has an Awsome selection of Computer gear and Accessories. Bad: The Service Center SUCKS BIG TIME,I recently took My Gaming Machine there for Diagnostics I was 2 busy with other things in My life at the time to do it My self. Anyway I paid 70.00 USD to have a Tech repot that goes like this Poss MOBO, i powerd SYS and I got Pretty lights THE BAD KIND? WTH? is that? Well i got the time in the next week to get 2 my SYStem and found SHORTED led display on the tower Bad MOBO and a Bad POWER SUPPLY Now I would really like to know What I paid 70.00 DOLLARS for ? Thier Diag. Improvements: Iwould like to C real Dianostics Done for the Customer. more

computer repair 5/25/2006

If your computer need repairs or upgrades (hardware or software), this is a great computer store to bring it to. It is very much like Best Buy, but I think the service here is better. I have never bought anything from here, but the two times I have brought in my computer for repairs, I have always gotten great service. They always know what to do and have the problem solved as soon as possible. Their rates were pretty reasonable too and my computer worked like new once I got it back. more

Micro center 4/8/2006

Micro Center has a great selection for all your electronic needs. The service staff is very helpful and friendly even if you are unsure about what your needs really are in a product. They have really great competative prices and lots of mail in rebate specials too. I especially like the way that they have their rebate center set up. You can just put in your item's upc code and print out the copies. So Simple! more

Computer Store 3/2/2006

My husband loves to shop at this store. He says that Micro center has the best deals in the area on computers and computer parts and software. A few months back, he got us a computer from here for about 400 dollars. It came fully equiped with a printer and a flat panel moniter. Its a great computer and they definitely have some steals here. Stop in if you are lookign for anything computer related, you might get a bargain. more

Nice pricing 2/19/2006

This is a great place to go if you need a computer, computer accessories, or any sort of electronics. They have a huge selection and what is best about this place is that everything is priced recently. I have really gotten some great deals from here. The people that work here are great too. They know their stuff and are always willing to give input and their input is always honest. You don't get any gimmicks here. I always go here before any of the bigger chain stores when I need to make a purchase. more

Great service and selection 1/13/2006

This is truly a computer superstore. They have all you need to build your own computer, upgrade your computer, software, media and a nice clearance/returns section, too. No hassle with returns, good hours (open till 9-10 p.m.) If you're into Apple computers, they have a whole room full of them and people who can help you out with compatibility issues, as well. They have some really good sales, too. more

Competitive prices 8/25/2005

This store offers great prices on electronics. Especially the brands they like to carry. If you are not too brand picky, then this is a good place to find deals on plasmas, notebook computers and other electronics. They have a very wide selection which covers everything imagineable for your computer. They have a huge software selection too along with a wide selection of cameras etc. I highly recommend going through their weekly ads. The weekly ad lists their best deals and you can see the weekly ad on their website too. They are very good with their return policy. I had to return a wireless card which didn't work with my computer and they easily took it back. more

Knowledgable staff, good prices 8/3/2005

I come here looking for bargains, and usually find them. The staff are very friendly in helping you get the right item for your system, or whatever you need, and they seem to get some of the best prices in the area on most electronics, if you shop around. They send you sales papers in the mail, too, if you ask. This is a good way to find out what's the bargains if you are looking for a specific item. more

This is a great place to get really great deals on computers and computer products. Some of their deals are unbelievable and a lot cheaper than Best Buy and such. They have a well stocked store with lots of deals and steals. Their customer service is a bit slow and you may spend a bit of time waiting in line, but I guess thats the trade-off for the cheaper prices! more

good prices 7/10/2005

Skip out on Best Buy and go here! They have much cheaper prices and a better selection. I have always found great deals here. However, their customer service is not always the best. Sometimes you may have to wait in a long checkout line. But the prices are well worth this wait. Try it out for yourself! more
