Mary Rocha saved my sanity! So about two months ago I decided I wanted my natural hair color back, and in order two this I used bleach(terrible idea I know),anyways I managed to get all the red out, but ended up with banana blonde, severely damaged hair. A few weeks after that I went into a salon to get the bad stuff cut, and to my dismay I ended up with what I have deemed a longish chunky mullet. It was horrible. I went and saw Mary and she was very understanding to my situation. She did corrective coloring (amazingly because my hair was so bad I thought it would be impossible to attach color), and brought my color back to a nice golden brown. She also attached extensions and my hair went from mullet, to long and lush. Its been almost three months and I have not lost a single one! They look great no one is the wiser. Michel's Hair and Colour Salon has recently been renovated and remodeled, there have also been changes in management and talent. It is a very clean and well maintained facility despite the previous rants. The staff is extremely friendly and it is a truly great atmosphere. They take pride in the amount of experience and talent in their salon. more

Mary has been doing my hair for about ten years, When I started with her I had very little grey,now my hair has tons of grey. She suggested a 10 minutue color by paul mitchell, I am a guy, so I really did not get into at first but after I thought about it, after someone called me hey grandpa, I said what the heck. Color looks natural with a little grey, noone can tell I colored my hair, but still i get compliments on how I look.. thanks Mary Rocha see you very soon!!! It was my first time cutting my hair with Mary.. I was referred to her by my cousin, who's hair always looks gorgeous. When i got to the salon I was immediately welcomed by a friendly staff . My session with Mary was great, not only did she describe how she was going to cut my hair but she was very informative about what type of style would suit my face.Needless to say, i loved the way my hair came out, the cut is easy to maintain and fits my face just right. She is a fantastic with color and I love the way she highlights my hair and I also enjoy our conversations with her, she is a doll. She is very attentive to my needs and does exactly what I want with my hair. Michael Demarse is a first class hairstylist. He was able to highlight and style my hair to perfection!!! He took his time and properly performed the service to my satisfaction. He is not to be confused with the owner, Michel. Michael Demarse is a great conversationalist. If you are a person that prefers no conversation during your hair care, let him know. He will honor your request. There is always free parking, great conversation, and a satisfied customer when you visit Mr. Demarse. I highly recommend Michael, as he always makes me look fabulous! His great 5 minute makeup kit is a big plus! Women always like to look fresh and this makeup kit is great to have for a traveling companion for quick touchups. Mr. Michael Demarse is the best hairstylist in houston! i had my hair really screwed up and a friend had told me to go see him! It was the best experience to be in his chair! he is very intellegent and funny! He made sure i was comfortable and that i didnt need anything!! we shared laughs after laughs!! He is a great funny and intellegent soul! In a matter of time,he was done with my hair and it looked so great! i felt so good to look good ya know! when you look good you tend to pick up those vibes and run with them!! since then i have had 2 photoshoots i used him for hair and makeup! The make up this man created is every womans dreams 5 minutes and you look right out of hollywood! I use it daily and love it! Its very simple to use and is good to my sensitive skin! i recommend him for all of his talents and hair and makeup is the gift he has been given! more

Michel's Hair Salon is probably the worst salon in Houston. The owner, Michel, is very unprofessional and has ruined me hair to the extent that he had burned and broken my hair. He spends all of his time talking about other people in a derrogative way, and if he doesn't like you he damages your hair. I have other friends who have had the same experience. He hires people that are inexperienced and unprofessional as well. I know several hairdressers that have left his employment because he is constantly complaining about them. He speaks badly about clients of his. Hardly anyone speaks english in his salon and it is very rude to be in his chair and have him speakling Arabic or Israeli. His salon is also very dirty. I dread having to use the ladies room when I went there. My advice for any prospective client is to stay away. There are plenty of really good salons that are clean, and do not degrade their clients or other hairdressers. The last two comments didn't even scratch the surface. I agree, the place is FILTHY! Not what you would expect in the upscale Galleria area. The owner, Michel, is in a class of his own to say the least. RUDE RUDE RUDE!! He complained about all of his customers. He BRAGGED about how he has INTENTIONALLY screwed up his clients hair and how he has overcharged them. He bragged that if he doesnt like the hairdressers, he gets rids of them. He said no one stays there long and laughed about it. How sad! He burned my hair because he used a peroxide that was too strong. He left me under the dryer and left. It wasn't until I got up and asked someone if I was ready to be rinsed. He was nowhere in sight. He, like his salon, is dirty and he smells . I can honestly say that I will NEVER go there again. I don't know how he does business, but don't expect him to stay in business long with the way he does business. BEWARE!!! STAY AWAY! Cons: FILTHY, RUDE!! more

I fully agree with last reviewer. Salon is dirty, employees are disinterested, bored and busy on their cell phones. This was my first time there on the recommendation of a friend of a friend. I too overlooked the decor and filth , waiting way past appt. time and rudeness thinking I was getting a really great haircutter. "Ramsey" was the haircutter. I explained the type of haircut I needed to work best with my hair. He then proceeded to cut what he wanted as if I had never spoken. When he was finished I told him I did not like it and could he cut it a little shorter and at least get the bangs up to my eyebrows as I couldn't see very well with them hanging half way down my nose. He cut again and refused to cut it any further saying He doesn't cut "Mullets" and that if I didn't like it he didn't care and not to come back. What a psyhco,egotistical, prima donna. Who does he think he is?! I am paying him for a Service, which means he's in the Service industry, which means you cater to the public. He said he would cut the best hair that he thought I should have! I left as quickly as I could and now will have to find someone to fix this mess. I don't know if the owner ever reads these reviews(I doubt it), but this guy has a TERRIBLE ATTITUDE towards clients. I also saw the poor woman that come out before me. She looked shell shocked poor thing. AVOID THIS PLACE. more

I have to say Michael DeMarse is the absolute worst hairstylist I have ever been to. The salon is filthy & has the worst atmosphere, but I thought I could overlook that for a few hours to get good hair. I couldn't have been any more wrong! I don't know where to start with Michael. He is the most uncomfortable & unprofessional man. He tells very sexually inappropriate jokes & doesn't get the hint when you are speechless. He wrote a book about hair & make-up that he constantly tries to sell you on. He has a horrendous line of make-up that looks like he makes in his garage that he wants you to buy. AND, on top of all of that, I left there & my mom said I needed to get my hair done!!! Needless to say I scheduled another appt that day to get the roots he so kindly missed. Save your money & sanity. This guy will leave you feeling very uncomfortable & ugly. more
