The Absolute Worst 12/23/2010

I don't work for one of Michaels competitors. In fact, I'd never visited their store until my wife suggested that we go get two items framed. We opted for the pricey custom framing but felt it was worth it. Two weeks later we receive a call from Michaels. The framing mats we ordered were out of stock. It took them two weeks to tell us this after we placed the order. Three weeks later we received another call. Their was a problem with the frames we initially ordered, and we could continue to wait or just come in and get our money back. They had our material a total of five weeks. Screwed up our order twice. Then basically told us to come get our items. Once we got to the store, they ended up giving us an order that wasn't ours, and I noticed large handwritten notes on the order sheet ""FRAME OUT OF STOCK."" Only after I complained to several employees did the last one give a half-hearted apology. My wife and I went immediately to Aaron Brothers on Lake, around the corner from Michaels, placed an order and told that it would take about a week to finish everything. After explaining our Michaels mishap to the manager (Lynee), she said she would personally take care of our order. Lynee was also knowledgeable and extremely professional. If you've ever considered doing business with Michaels on Colorado in Pasadena, DON'T! You will save yourself many headaches and aggravation by driving past Michaels and going to Aaron Brothers, which is less than a mile away. I rated Michaels with one star, and only gave it that high of a rating because Citysearch doesn't allow negative stars. more

family friendly project supplies 11/9/2007

A great place to pick up supplies for school projects, party fun or to get ideas for fun family projects. I love going in this time of the year for something fun for the whole family to get involved in. more

Holy Cow - This Store ROCKS! 12/14/2005

I was blown away at the Michaels on Colorado! (I came from Orange County where ALL M's are awful.) This gem is two-story, loads of *extremely* well-stocked varietal inventory. Staff, if not all personable, at the least they are very knowledgeable. This store is 1) well lighted 2) CLEAN 3) well stocked. Parking is a nightmare. The busiest M's I've ever seen (out of dozens of M's in So. CA I've seen). Numerous OPEN checkouts, great sales, great coupons, great stuff! Yippee, I can't get enough... Pros: Well Stocked ALWAYS, Clean, Comfortable, Helpful Staff Cons: no online shopping, Parking Nightmare more

A craft menagerie! 10/4/2005

Michaels is a place that you can find anything for any art project you could possibly dream up! I recently started knitting again and they had all the basics for me at my fingertips. Needles, yarn and all! Plus if you want to learn they have a large selection of starter books that are pretty comprehensive! more

Handy to have nearby 8/1/2005

Michae's has saved my butt a number of times when I've been looking for something specific. The quality of the stuff they sell may not be the best, but there's usually a pretty good selection and decent prices. At this particular store, it seems they don't have enough registers open; I spend most of my time in the store waiting in line to check out. more

They have everything 6/16/2005

This is a really large Michael's. Even though the place is outdated as far as appearance it houses a numerous amount of art supplies. Plus has an upstairs area for all your picture hanging supplies and mounting. You can find just about any art supply you need here. more

A little small 4/15/2005

I like the chain in general, however, the main drawback of this place is that it's too big for the space it's in. I think this mainly contributes to the place in being a bit disorganized. I always have a hard time finding the things I need here. more

Michaels Arts and Crafts 4/14/2005

I've been to Michaels for various reasons over the past couple of years. Mostly, I've been for framing needs because their frames are reasonably priced and easy to find. I like Michaels because it has what I need for my arts and crafts purposes. Deals here can be great! more

Awesome goldmine of art supply 3/12/2005

This is the chain of all art stores, when you are looking to do any kind of project. You can find old lady bric-a-brac to cool stained glass window supplies. The fact that they have a 50 percent coupon makes it worth it just to come here for a single item. I would suggest to check out their candle making kits. Totally sweet that they frame posters and art with a reasonable price. I have to be pulled out of here evertime I come in to mosey around! more

Have everything 3/8/2005

I can find anything I need for any craft at Michaels. Plus it is the cheapest I have found! The only thing that I don't particularly like is the help. It seems like I can never find someone who can answer my questions. So go in there knowing what you want, not to find answers. Don't forget to look in the sunday paper for the weekly ad that always has a 40% off coupon for one item. Worth it! more

Michael's 2/24/2005

This Michael's has everything you need, but I don't really like the lay out and it can get very crowded. Parking is a nightmare on sale days, so stay clear ... They usually put all of their major sale items right outside which is really convenient. I don't like their upstairs at all (where they keep all the frames) - of course the quality of their merchandise is really good, but it's really quiet up there and rarely anyone around, so it's not the most inviting. Michael's in Burbank is much more fun! more

Editorial review from Insider Pages 12/31/2004

I generally really like Michaels but this location always seems to be really crowded. They have a great selection of just about anything you could want but I think that it is all just put in a building that is too small. Even with the tight spaces in the aisles, things are keep very neat and orderly so it is easy to find what you are looking for. They keep several registers open at a time so you don't usually have to stand in a long line to check out. more

Michaels is huge! Anything you need for arts & crafts can be found here. Scrapbooking, beads, all sorts of decorative papers, picture frames, you name it--it's here. This is a great place to go if you're the type who'd rather make a creative gift for someone as opposed to just buying something in the store. Their prices are really cheap too! more

Editorial review from Insider Pages 11/30/2004

This store is great when you're in the mood to be crafty and domestic. Michael's has one of the best selections of crafts materials, including scrapbooking items, picture frames, candles, yarn, fake flowers, glass, paints, stationary, etc. If I've got a crafting project, I usually come to Michael's. They've also got great seasonal items to decorate with. The items are well-priced, and Michael's often has coupons that get you 50% off one item. more

Editorial review from Insider Pages 11/24/2004

I LOVE this place. They have just about everything... arts, crafts, yarn, needlepoint, decorating, framing, scrapbooking. And the selection is awesome. The only thing they don't have is fabric and sewing supplies. They have an awesome selection of yarns and knitting supplies. The lines are often long, but it's the best craft place in Pasadena. more

...somewhere else.... 5/16/2002

If you have the option to go somewhere else, then do. This place is really cramped and kind of dis-organized. The staff is friendly, but no one there has a smile on their face so I'm not so sure they really enjoy what they're doing. Finding what you need is a bit confusing, and the two times I asked if they carried something I was told that they didn't, but ended up finding out that they actually did. more
