It's true that I was left to browse until I asked for help, but then, did the staff ever know their stuff. Two people helped me find multiple maps of my obscure (I thought) trip destination, and we compared them side-by-side for scale and style. Wonderful resource. more

Grea for maps 8/17/2005

This is actually my favorite store. I go here to waist time. They used to be in pioneer square a few years back but now near pikes place on 1st. They have anything and everything related to maps and topography. The service sucks though. I dont think they like to come out from behind the counter - but thats just a quirk in their business. If you ask them questions they know the answer, they just dont jump at your feet. But feel free to browse - they equally wont bother you for just looking even for an hour as i have waiting for my wife to shop elsewhere. more

Bookstore for Travelers 8/17/2005

Metsker is the place for everything geographic. The store has all kinds of maps, charts, atlases, globes - for everyone from armchair travelers to expedition planners. It also carries a wide selection of guidebooks. They have recently moved up the street from the old Pioneer Square location to between Pike and Pine. Great place to get all your reading needs.
