Horrible Experience with Food, Service and Wine Tasting 5/27/2010

I saw that they were having a wine tasting event from 12PM-2PM on May 22nd so I asked four of my foodie friends to go with me. My friends were quite excited to try out a new place and their wonderful online menu added more excitement. When we first got to the store, I loved the eclectic small deli shop feel of the place. You rarely see places like this in Atlanta we were psyched to find one. However, the place had a very limited amount of items in stock, and the wine tasting only consisted of 3 wines. The waitress who was supposed to pour the wines for the customers was not at her post either. The staff members ended up asking the customers to pour the drinks themselves. (Which I was fine with). After a few sips, the lady returned to pour the wines for us, but she seems very irritated or mad about something. We as customers were very put off by her attitude. So we moved away from the wine station and decided to get some food. Finding food that we wanted to eat was hard since the selection was very small and very expensive. (Average of $7.99 for a very small sandwich and a spoon full of pasta salad. As a reference, the sandwich was much smaller than a 6 inch sub at subway). The food was mediocre and did not taste any more special than what you would put together at home. The worst part of it all was that the wine tasting which was supposed to last until 2PM ended at 1PM instead. I asked a young waitress what had happened, and she just gave me an awkward smile and said ""we had some problems so we had to end it early."" I am not sure what the problem was, but we were quite ticked off that they ended the event so early. Several of us who were actually going to buy a few bottles were so put off my their attitude that we ended up leaving the place with nothing. The restaurant/shop seems like it has so much potential but did not meet its expectations. All five of us are big foodies and were so excited to find such a cute little place. However, we doubt that we will be returning after the bad attitude from the staff members, less than mediocre food, expensive menu, and slow service. Pros: The place resembles a deli you would find in NY Cons: Bad Staff Attitude,Poor Service, Expensive and Mediocre Food more

Small Take-Away Gem In Candler Park! 9/15/2009

This little Candler Park Deli/Cafe is just that, a gem. You can call in advance and order from the lunch menu, to pick-up. Customers can also call 48 hours in advance to place an order for Chef Samantha's fabulous smoked meats. Some of our favorite deli items are the buttermilk-dill salad, roasted corn and black bean salad, fried chicken, and homemade apple pie. Sometimes, we just sit at one of the small tables, and pretend we are on a picnic. Pros: Fresh Deli Case, Smoked Meats Also! more
