Mendocino Farms 1/6/2011

My sister brought me here after hearing about it from her fiancee who works in downtown. This place can be hard to find, even for being in a food court it is in a corner by its lonesome! But no fear Mendocino for ever being alone! Lots of friends you have there in line Mendocino! The line is always long but never takes more than a few minutes to get through it! They have friendly people who will hand you menus while you wait in line, and use this waiting time to your advantage, there is soooo much to choose from you may have secretly wished you had 2 stomachs! Forgive me if I forget the names of the sandwiches we ordered. She got the pressed ciabatta and i got the citrus tuna which were both sooooo amazing!!! Their menu is great with cute little add-ons like the type of vinaigrette's and the type of breads (GET THE SOURDOUGH OMG) After you order you see them make the sandwiches and there is a deli you can grab samples from while waiting for you delicious-ness to be reasy! I was so happy to discover they have a location open on the West side in Marina Del Ray, a lot easier for me to use up all their sourdough bread. more

Editorial
  • This second Downtown L.A. outpost of chef/owners Mario Del Pero and Judy Han’s gourmet sandwich shop is a wild improvement over their cramped flagship store on Grand. Located at Citigroup Center, the airy room welcomes with pleasing architectural details from Poon Design--high ceilings, industrial motifs, marble counters, glass lamps, sleek booths and a long communal walnut table. There’s also a big patio with lots of sunny seats, packed with local execs catching a few moments away from the desk. Despite the lengthy lines, sit-down dining here is pleasant, and service is streamlined and fast. The menu remains identical to the original: a self-styled “eco-artisan sandwich concept” that puts fresh, organic and seasonal ingredients into dynamic creations like Kobe meatloaf, Kurobuta pork belly, duck confit, steak BLT, proscuitto and roast chicken, or the “drunken goat in Paris” composed of goat cheese, cranberry chutney, French brie, balsamic roasted onions, green apple and organic farmer's greens. Breads range from ciabatta to sourdough wheat and Curcama hazelnut; most are grilled panini style. Also look for homemade soups and organic salads.
