No help 3/23/2010

I made a trip down to find/visit my moms grave. It had been at least 15 years since I was there. I couldnt remember exactly where it was located, funny how things are different than what you remember. I went to the office, no one was there. So I went up to the funeral home office and asked for help. No one acted like they wanted to help and it wasn't like they were busy. They told me to go back down to the office, someone should be there. I tried to explain, I was just there and the office was locked. Their whole attitude was like "oh well". \r After standing there and waiting for someone to offer to help and not getting any. I just said, "thanks" and left.\r I admit I probably should have done some calling before coming down but being it was a Friday, and that they do keep office hours on Friday I just assumed I could get some help. \r Im planning another trip down, this time will call. Guess we will see what happens.... more

Memory Hill Garden Cemetery Tuscaloosa, Alabama 1/17/2006

The cemetery has gone down in quality since being taken over by a large company out of Houston, Texas. The staff is nice, but not very efficient in getting things done. Grass grows over many markers making them hard to locate. Many vases on the markers are missing and some markers are damaged. I was told by the staff that if the family of the deceased did not complain, then the missing or damaged markers would not be replaced. Upon occassion flowers or other momentos are stolen off graves. The landscaping needs lots of improvement, especially along Skyland Blvd. where hedges or a wroght iron fence should be installed. There is very little privacy when visiting graves because of the noisy highway right next to the cemetery. Some of the roads need repairing. The winter months could be used to locate and repair markers that are missing vases or are damaged or need to be reset because they are sinking into the ground. I strongly encourage anyone with loved ones buried in this cem more

Well Kept Cemetary 9/2/2005

Their funeral service and wakes are very respectable and acommodating to many. It is a very nice building and well kept. The cemetary itself is nicely manicured. There are cons. Recently, you are not allowed to have any small statues or momentos (such as , a cross, or a small knick-knack, or toy for a child, small holiday tree) on the grounds beside the plaques of your loved ones. They will be thrown out, as well as any blown down flowers--which have to be kept in the provided vase--by the groundskeepers. This is to provide a "clean" look. It is tolerable, but, something some may want to consider. PROS: nice grounds area CONS: strict policies more
