BEST PIZZA I HAVE EVER HAD 6/29/2011

My husband and I wanted to enjoy some pizza after we got off work in the North Point mall area. Our pizza was PERFECT! Amber was a friendly and efficient server. The cook's name was Jason who made the delicious pie. (Yeah, it was so good we had to ask for his name!) We liked the small and quaint patio. Thank you for the delicious food and great experience! We look forward to visiting this Mellow Mushroom in the future. more

Horrible customer service 10/28/2010

The food is awesome so maybe think about doing take out. The servers are terrible. Our waitress Amber was extremely rude and gave us horrible service. Excellent food but not worth being disrespected more

AWESOME FOOD....HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!! 10/28/2010

I am not a person who would usually sit down and write a review. My family and I ate there every Friday night and would normally do pick up during the week. I have however, had to stop eating at my favorite neighborhood spot. Because of SEVERAL instances, I find the manager Amber RUDE and DIFFICULT! The restaurant itself is small and they have limited staff so my run-ins were quite constant and frequent. I do not understand how the owner of this place could put such a rude woman in charge of his business. 1) Was calling on a week night around 8:45 for a pick up and Amber answered the phone and hung up on me....I thought I lost reception so I called back same thing happened...called again and again I was hung up on. Finally I called back one last time and asked to speak to the manager she told me she was the manager and it was now 9pm and they were closed and hung up on me AGAIN! 2) Again, I said my family and I use to love going to Mellow for a family dinner on Friday's, On SEVERAL occasions when we unfortunately got Amber as our server she was spilled water over our table (excusable accidents happen) but never apologized or offered to bring us a rag to clean it up with. Neglected our table while she was flirting with the cooks in the back or to her friends at the front counter....came in from smoking cigarettes on the patio without washing her hands which is gross...she has also dropped a plate of food all over my wife ruining her silk blouse and looked like we unconvinced her when we asked for soda water (which she said she did not have) 3) Bottom line...you have to get your own refills and if you are lucky you can have ordered your food and received your drinks w/in 45 min. You still have another hour left before you get your food 4) I do have to say the food is EXCELLENT and we ALWAYS have a great experience I will not go back there until new management because it scares me that the owner would hire someone with no common sense or people skills to manage his restaurant. more

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE SERVICE 6/18/2010

Ask for a different waitress if you get Sonia as your waiter. She has no customer service skills and when she screws up she can't just own up to it and give an sympathic I'm sorry. Upon delivering the wrong order to our table after waiting almost 35 minutes, we kindly made her aware of her error and asked her to bring out the right order. She proceeded to yank the pizza from our table and took it back to the kitchen screamed "this one it going in the trash!" and tossed the tin tray onto the counter as hard as possible. We sat at the back of the restaurant right next to the kitchen. Upon addressing her behavior personally she started to argue and give a pathedic "I'm sorry" which she vocalized very sarcastically. We asked for the manager who bribed us with a $5.00 coupon and proceeded to tell us that Sonia is a "General Manager". Upon leaving the restaurant one of the waiters made the comment "I'll put your face into a pepporni pizza the next time". The wait staff sucks at this place. Beware! God forbid that you put in an order and have something completely different delivered to your table! We were having a great time talking and hanging out and now I'm back at work fuming about how we were treated and vow NEVER to go back to that location again!!!! Pros: The Pizza was fantastic Cons: The wait staff have horrible customerr service skills. more

Better than the average pizza 8/18/2008

Much better than the average pizza, we prefer the mellow mushroom any day. Better than Dominos and the like, it doesn't taste like a frozen pizza! more

It's Mellow Mushroom Always consistant 6/27/2007

This location is close to our home so we're pretty regular visitors. Most MM's are consistent with regards to the pies and other menu items. I don't know why anyone would buy Domino or Papa John's if a MM was in the neighborhood. Unless you're just that lazy. Pros: Consistent menu items. Cons: staff turnover seems high more

Editorial
  • The Scene
With satellite locations in big-time university towns like Chapel Hill and Athens, this popular Atlanta chain knows what makes a college pizzeria. Newer strip mall locations aside, staple fixtures include good music, servers in Jane's Addiction T-shirts and combat boots, funky painted cinder blocks and bumper sticker-covered beer coolers. Visit the Druid Hills location for the patio.

    The Food
A product of the '70s, this reliable pizzeria projects an unflappable Deadhead psychedelics-n'-health-food ethos. This amounts to lots of "shroom" references, "spring water dough" (enriched with vitamin E), plus tofu as a pizza topping and sprouts on all the hoagies. Pies are high quality and the crust--dense but crisp--is distinctive. Specialties, including the Gourmet White pie (sun-dried tomatoes, onions, feta and provolone cheeses) and the Mighty Meaty (hamburger, bacon, pepperoni, ham and sausage) are top-notch. Salads and sandwiches are college-food good, making a nice variation if you dine here often.
