WOW now thats what I call Thai Food! 3/24/2009

If you are really into great Thai food and a comfortable setting then definitely check this place out. Ask Paul the owner for his recommendations! So authentic, so delish! Pros: Authentic delicious Thai Food Cons: Not open 24 hours more

Good food, no frills 11/30/2006

I don't know why everyone is dumping on Natalee Thai, because it's a great place that has good food in a fun atmosphere... That being said, Melanee Thai is much more no-frills and has good food for much cheaper. Pros: Good food, cheaper prices Cons: Dumpy exterior, down-scale interior more

Great Neighborhood Spot 10/29/2006

I live a few blocks away from Melanee Thai and eat there quite often. Good for take out or dining in. The place is cheap and the decor is no frills, but they've put forth a great effort to create a nice atmosphere. They're happy to make substitutions. Yellow curry with shrimp, broccoli, potatos, and onions is my favorite. Make sure to get extra brown rice--it's much better than the white. Pros: Great prices, huge menu more

THE BEST RED SHRIMP CURRY AROUND 8/18/2006

I AGREE WITH THE OTHER PERSON, NATALIE THAI IS TERRIBLE, PARKING AWEFUL AND SERVICE AWEFUL. WE USED TO GO TO TUK TUK, BUT THAT HAS GONE DOWN THE TUBES AS WELL. MELANIES SERVICE AND FOOD ARE CONSISTENT. ALWAYS GOOD. LARGE PORTIONS AND INEXPENIVE. THE WAITERS ARE AWESOME. PARKING IS EASY. FREE 2 HOUR PARKING UP THE STREET. THE SHRIMP CURRY IS AWESOME. EVERYTHING WE HAVE TRIED HERE IS GREAT. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!!!!!!!!!1 Pros: EVERYTHING Cons: NOT OPEN DURING THE DAY ON SATURDAY & SUNDAY more

Forget Natalee Thai, Melanee is where it's at! 7/25/2006

Natalee Thai is awful and overpriced. Try Melanee Thai on Pico instead. It's cozy and even romantic. The decor is a bit ""thrown together"", but they seem to have done a nice job on what was probably a very limited budget. The food is outstanding. Substituions are no problem. The veggies are very fresh and they love to give you tons of meat, seafood, whatever it is you've ordered. The yellow curry is fantastic with shrimp, and then broccoli instead of carrots. Make sure to order the brown rice with your curry, it's far better than the white rice. I can't say enough good things about this place. Good prices, huge menu and hearty portions suitable for leftovers. Give it a try, you'll be glad you did. Pros: great for large groups, big booths, open late more

huge portions, no wait 5/1/2006

I just had the hugest, most delicious plate of gralicky spicy basil noodles at Melanee- it was my first time here after usually getting take out from east wind or natalee- both on venice. I refuse to wait to sit at natalee's. I dont want to wait ofr 45 minutes to have trendy pad thai! Melanees was a welcome respite from the lines and silly menu names. My friend and I walked right in and were the only ones there for 90 percent of our meal. I had some good veggie potstickers but the noodles were HUGE and DELIOUS and the tofu was perfectly fried. I will definitely go back again even if the ambience is a tiny bit shabby. Loved it!!! Pros: no wait, huge portions, westside Cons: too empty?, ambience isnt fab, slightly pricey more

Yummy Thai food in a Great Atmosphere 4/15/2006

My fiance and I have walked by this place quite a few times. We finally tried it out. The food was excellent (she had the yellow curry w/ shrimp, I had the panang curry). As the other reviewers mentioned, the brown rice was great! Atmosphere is cozy and relaxed. Nothing fancy but who cares. Great food, great price. Nice hidden spot! Pros: Delicious, Nice ambience, Inexpensive more

Great Place! 3/7/2006

The food is fabulous here. I love it! If I lived in the area I would go here every night for dinner. The Yellow curry is great with shrimp. The Duck is great also. I love the brown and wild rice combination. FABO!! Pros: Food, Ambiance, Thai Ice Tea more

I love this place! 1/5/2006

The best Thai delivery I've had!!!! I order from here at least once a week. You won't be disappointed. more

Secret Little Gem on Pico 9/17/2005

This restaurant has been a great savior in last minute dinner decisions - whether you feel like take-out or dining in. The restaurant has comfy booths with a mellow atmosphere (gentle lighting and chill-out music). The food is tasty: especially the yellow chicken curry and the bangkok noodles. And who can resist a cold glass of Thai Ice Tea? Pros: Casual, Great Thai Food, Friendly Service more
