Comments: My wife brought our vehicle in for an Oil change and Safety Inspection. We were informed that the car failed inspection and required front struts and sway bar to a total cost of $990.22. As we had an issue in the past when this same Meineke shop recommended that we have new bushing put on the vehicle, which we were told were not required from another Auto Mechanic shop. We decided to have another Mechanic look at the vehicle’s struts. We were informed that the struts were fine, and the vehicle passed inspection. As this is the second instance that I am aware of, I find it highly suspect and unethical. ). It would seem that every time my wife brings the vehicle, they attempt to scare her into buying unneeded services. I was a loyal customer to this Meineke shop. I will no longer trust my vehicles to them. I also intend to bring this matter up with the Better Business Bureau, PA Consumer Advocate department as well as Motor Vehicle department (and a ny other organization that may regulate or post-consumer alerts). I find these actions to be criminal in nature, and at a minimum extremely poor business practices. As a nationally recognized organization, I would think that you would have better quality control over your franchised businesses.
