average dining experience prompt service 10/30/2008

Average dining experience. Food was okay but service is prompt and attentive. Our waiter was great he seems a little bit rush but prompt. I thought my food was kind of bland. The portions are just right not too small or too much. I do recommend their creme brulee. Nice atmosphere but was not really blown away. Pros: prompt service Cons: none i can think of more

HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!!! 8/27/2008

Unfortuanteyl ate at this restaurant during a summer vacation in July. Service was horrible, worst I have ever seen. Waiter took over 15 minutes to come over and get our drink order as he was too busy pampering the table of 5 next to our table of 4. Our waiter also seemed a bit on edge and disinterested in everything. We never received bread and each course took longer and longer to get to us. I notice our appetizers sitting in the pickup window for a good 10 minutes. The food was so-so, I thought my 4 shirmp and rice entree for $28 was a bit of a rip off especially considering the shirmp were overcooked. I would never reccommend this restaurant to anyone - worst dining experience I have ever had. Pros: Good Location Cons: Service, Price for what you get more

Good seafood just a little pricey 1/2/2008

The service was okay. Our waiter seemed like he was too busy with a larger group and was not very interested in serving our table of 2. The food was great. The seafood was fresh and well worth the price. But the highlight of the meal was definitely dessert. We had cheesecake that was to die for. Pros: Fresh seafood and cheesecake Cons: service more

really good seafood, just kinda expensive 12/26/2007

I had their clams and shrimp cocktail. My sister had a white fish (I forgot which one). Both cooked very well. very fresh. Clams were GREAT. However, for $9 you only get four pieces of Shrimp. They are very long and fresh, but for $9 you don't get a lot. I'd go back because the food is good, but it's a bit on the pricey side for me. more

Very good pasta and excellent service...:-) 7/6/2007

I had gone to Mcormicks with a friend of mine on a saturday afternoon without any reservations...it was quite busy and we were seated by the bar till we could get a table...the bartender was very helpful and offered us some excellent choice of wine...soon enough we were seated...the cuisine was a lot of pasta and seafood and hence thats wht i ordered....they make it just right to ur liking ...as in my friend likes her pasta not with a lot of cheese and i love mined filled with it...in short they really do cater to ur needs however busy they are...i loved d food and the service...the decor is very family style and even though it was completely packed...we still had our own little privacy ....enjoyed it a lot....would recommend it to everyone...:-)... more

Not all it's cracked up to be! 5/12/2007

We went there on a Friday evening. We ordered crab dip appetizer, and found it over-bearingly salty. The waitress was nice and offered us a different appetizer, so we selected the crab cake. It was still a little salty, but better.\r \r For the entree, I ordered sauteed salmon, which was very good. Unfortunately it came with a big load of pasta that was really really greasy. My girlfriend ordered the seafood newberger, which is supposed to be one of their classic dishes. It was Ok, but not worth twenty bucks. The desserts, a brownie sundae and upside-down apple pie were both good.\r \r Overall, the food quality was a little disappointing. The service and atmosphere was good, though we had to wait a long time to get the check. I would not recommend this place to a friend, since it wasn't really worth the price and time we spent. Pros: atmosphere, dessert Cons: salty appetizer, creamy food more

fresh seafood and attentive service 2/23/2007

came here for a business dinner and started out with drinks in the bar. the waitress was nice but kind of aloof and we had to flag her down for the check (about 10 minutes after we finished our drinks, you'd think she'd be all over us getting another round?). experience was much better in the restaurant. our server was knowledgeable and polite and had worked at several other locations around the country. delcious and reasonably priced seafood with TONS of selections. the fish is flown in fresh daily and they change their menu at least once a day to reflect what they have fresh on hand. it's a little pricey for me to come back often (entrees $20-$40), but I would definitely consider it for a very special occassion. Pros: service, food quality and options Cons: our waitress in the bar more

Great Seafood 11/13/2006

McCormick and Schmicks has great Seafood flown in everyday. The menu is different daily based on the selection of fish. One classic entree is the Brie and Crab stuffed Salmon which is an excellent choice. In addition to seafood, they also have a happy hour menu with burgers and more for all under $5.00 each. Great place for a date! Pros: Fresh Seafood, Excellent Service, Two locations in Chicago more

Good French Frys 6/26/2006

The best thing they have are the frys. Not too thrilled with the fish. The cod is ok, but needs more seasoning more

Perennial Favorite 11/24/2005

Mc Cormick & Schmick is an outstanding restaurant! My wife uses them as her sole source for business entertaining. By the way, If you ever need to entertain in Milwaukee, we just posted a review about Third Street Pier - Very much like M&S only more genuine. Pros: Fresh Fish, Michigan Ave more

Pleasantly surprised 11/30/2003

After walking around trying to find a lunch place open on thanksgiving, we happened on this place. My wife had read about it and wanted to try it, plus it was OPEN! We had appetizers and oysters in the bar, and everything was good. In fact, it ranged from pretty good (the seared tuna, kind of a wimpy portion and flavor) to excellent (the oysters and the fried callamari). With the good bread they brought, it made a good light lunch. Service in the bar was pretty good, and it was clean and not overly smokey like some bars get. more

Great Restaurant! 8/16/2003

My husband and I went to this restaurant for a special dinner. I have been there previously and the food and service is always impeccable. Our waiter couldn't have been more attentive. The food was perfectly prepared and presented. Pros: Great presentation, Excellent wait staff more

Bruce 8/11/2003

I have been to the one in Phonex and was very pleased with that restaurant; good food, good service and good ambiance. So when it came to my friend's birthday I thought this was the place to take him in Chicago. But I was worng. Our food took over one hour to arrive after the appetizer was served. The portion of food is extremly small and it tasted like its been done in a hurry. We could never get hold of our waiter. I actually had to CHASE after him to get the check, which I've never had to do in any restaurants. It is a shame that this particular restaurant couldn't live up to the name of the chain. more

Better than rated... 2/17/2003

After reading previous reviews I was a little hesitant to go here but was in the neighborhood. My seafood newburg was excellent and my wife's shrimp scampi was done perfectly. Coconut shrimp was a great appetizer. Server wasn't the best and they did not have the wine we wanted in-stock but overall the food made it a great night. Pros: Flavor, Bar Cons: Server more

best seafood chain 8/8/2002

This chain serves great seafood at every location. I have never been disappointed. more

Nice dinner at the bar 6/8/2002

Came in here with a friend one night. We ordered a drink in the bar, then stayed for dinner. The bartender was great -- turned on baseball on one TV and hockey on another, as we asked. Food is a tad pricey, but the seafood is fresh. Oysters on the half-shell were impeccable. Pros: Fresh seafood Cons: Parking is tough more
